Perhaps a little harsh on Berbatov. He hasnt done much of note, but he's not been invisible either. He's been involved plenty of times, but backward passes, through balls that arent in front of players and offside headers dont get you very far. He's been fairly active, just not particularly good.
Agreed that Anderson and perhaps Fletcher have done quite well. We've had no quality from the wings though, again. We're crying out for Nani right now.
With 2 in midfield against 3 of City we're getting raped. There's always on of their central midfielders free, mostly De Jong who has played a great first half.
I'd still leave the subs until 60 minute mark, see if we cant turn it round with the current line-up (which I wasn't complaining about pre-match). Maybe a Fergie hair-dryer is all that's needed.
Oh and Owen to come off the bench, score the winner and become a legend

I think we need to push on more and attack in greater number - Valencia I think might help with this. We need to be less worried about conceding again and be bolder in our attacks, which look half-hearted and slightly unconvincing to me at the moment; unlike last week. So what if we score again and so do they? We need to have faith in our players up front to get the ball into the net. In games like these it's not the clean sheets that matter to me; it's the result. Three points.
Tevez was offside for that last chance I thought. Ran out of ideas again, Rooney trying too much, Berbs not in the game. Anderson not playing himself. No width.
How much creativity can Fletcher and Anderson show if the support from the flanks is almost non existent? Park and Giggs need to step up. 2 Players can't feed the strikers all the time. How many crosses have been played by us? Not many.

I agree. The two in the middle are fine. They've getting nothing out of anyone beside or ahead of them apart from Rooney. Park and Giggs are offering nothing. Richards is too strong for Giggs at his age.
Which only goes to show that comments like these, charley, are quite premature.
When you play deep like Berbatov its on you to create things. If he's not doing it, get Rooney back there... The problem is we may not have anyone to lead the line for him to play that position. Owen isnt a Ruud or Heskey, or even a Saha to be his foil. Macheda and Welbeck could be in the future, but in the here and now arent ready to be relied on in such a big game.
Boothy has a lot to answer for at half time.

Fletch and Anderson are up against 3 central midfield players. When Park, Berba and Giggs go missing, they can't be any more effective
But how would they step up Giggs? Giggs is always going to drift into the middle and that isn't helping and Park is never going to be an attacking force. I think we need to think about changing things up a little especially Park.
We need to have Nani on, and maybe Owen too in the 2nd half.
With the form Carricks in I'll take my chances with Giggs.

We keep getting battered in midfield from day one. There's no creativity, consistency nor drive in 90% of our matches. It's worrying, especially since we have around month or so to sort it out before going to Anfield and SB. As couple of posters said we need young Paul Scholes.
A goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and no more dodgy goalkeeping please.

there will be no panic buys. Our squad is good enough , just too many individual mistakes and players in temporary bad form.
