Manchester United Vs Manchester City.

Stop being so worried about Evans you monkeys, he's been great so far this season and will be great again today.

Beginning to shit bricks now... We managed to get back and win the Shield because Clev contributed to a very good quick pass and move approach... I don't know if that will work with Fletch.

and you are nervous about Evans in the lineup. Show some faith

Umm I'm fine with Evans playing he's been pretty good this season. Vidic is probably "punished" because he took a stupid red in CL if he isn't injured.

He seems to have dropped back into a holding mid a lot more since they got Nasri. With Nasri not playing I agree that Yaya will be more of a threat coming forward than the thug de jong.

Yeah, but City have lost a great deal of defensive nous as a result.

Vida didn't look that sharp in midweek(leaving the debatable red card aside) - Maybe Fergie felt his lack of sharpness would be shown up by City, and thought it better to rest him.

This is only match number 9 of 38 after all.

Absolutely - but recent experience has proven that experience counts in derby games. Remember the Giggs pass to Owen for the last minute goal...

I'm slightly worried about lack of experience and naivety in our front 6 today - no Giggs, no Owen and no Scholes of course. That's a lot of experience to lose in a game like this.

I think a lot rests on Rooney and Fletcher - they both need to step up and take responsibility today.

Experience is vital, but not at the expense of quality. hernandez is the better option than owen.

We were always going to miss the experience of scholesy and giggs in these fixtures but i think we still have enough leaders on the pitch. Fletch will need to have a very good game though, thats for sure.

I feel strangely relaxed about this match. I'm guessing this is only me though...

Have faith.

Your not the only one, this is just another derby game, like my first ever visit to OT in 76. It will mean loads for the fans for us to win, but only 3 points for the team.

This team with the exception of Fletcher, who is still trying to find his form since his return is fine. Nice looking bench as well, it could be better, but this team will do a job.

It's worrying that there are no CMs on the bench. Giggs would have been very useful coming on late in a game like this or if we were trying to protect a lead, Carrick.

Though I suppose we could use Park or even Jones there in a pinch.

Fletcher?
I can only guess that Fletcher is in the team based on his former performances in big games (which were usually quite good) and his experience. I trust Fergie, though I'd really want to know why Carrick couldn't even make the bench?! Surely he must carry a knock or something?

Fletcher has got better with each game he's played this season. Definitely a player in good form. Our best CM against the dippers. Helps that he'll have had a bit more time to recover from tonsilitis/international duty.

How on earth does Fletcher manage to get into our starting lineup for every PL match? Carrick in one match was better than Fletcher in any match this season. Good team other than that.

Carrick got only two (substitute) appearances in the league this season.

Fletcher got four, all starts.

Premier League specialist!

Very very strange if he's deemed not good enough for the bench after being MOTM mid-week. Has to be a knock or something.

He tends to show up in the big matches!

I don't think that's a good enough reason to continue to pick him when Carrick's playing better football. Carrick deserves to start imo...unless he's injured.

Carrick should be starting. A Fletcher/Anderson midfield pairing worries me. What's absolutely baffling is having no CM on the bench if things aren't working in the middle of the pitch. I can only assume Carrick is injured.

Pleased for Jonny. He has been undropable this season.

Don't know why people are worried he's class.

It's not that simple, man.

Form > name.

He's club captain and been the best defender in the world over the past three or four seasons. I hear what you're saying, but I'd take a slightly rusty Vidic over Evans any day. There's no denying Evans has been in good form this year though.

Would Keane have been rested or deliberately left out for this game when he was club captain in the same manner? I don't think so.

Not just that, I feel Welbeck probably has a better all round game than Hernandez, which isn't a slight on Hernandez.

Sky are a fecking sham, being at QPR today not at Old Trafford, just to save a few quid on petrol or something.
