Manchester United vs. Middlesbrough

would love the 3 pts, however we get them.
those feckers turned us over 3-1 iirc at about this time of year in the treble season.
course after that we stayed unbeaten for the rest of the season.:D

Well they have against Arsenal since Southgate took over, but not before then. Their performance against Chelsea in October was disgraceful.

They've played well against each of the top four since Southgate took over.

Pretty sure they've beaten Chelsea under Southgate and they deserved to beat Liverpool this season, they were the better team on the day.

Clubs will always raise their games against United, we're the biggest team in the country and the Champions of England, Europe and the world. We need to accept that and stop complaining.

Well said, if we were all Boro fans we would be wanting our team to raise our game against the English, European and World Champions

bet365 has us 1/5 favs and odds of boro winning are 18/1

i dont think we'll lose , but 18/1 is way too low

When me and a friend tried to figure out all the teams we had played this season we had to list the whole table to be able to see the teams (it is not as easy as it sounds) and we got to the point where we had 19 teams, but which team was missing??? It took probably 5 minutes before we came up with the last one, and it was Boro... Goes to show what a pointless team they are. Anyway I believe we're gonna have to put on a quite decent performance to break them down. I would have liked to see Nani but there's no way he will play... I suspect it will be this team.
------------VDS
Neville - Vida - Evans - O'shea
Ronaldo - Scholes - Fletcher - Park
--------Rooney - Tevez

Bench: Berbs, Rafael, Anderson, Nani, Kusz, Welbeck, Carrick

I think we need an early goal for a confidence boost, but I reckon we'll take this one quite comfertably. 'Boro haven't won for a while, we haven't lost for a while, they don't look like scoring, we don't look like conceding... I know it's never that simple in football, but taking everything into account, even knowing 'Boro will raise their game, I think we'll win by at least two goals.

----------------- van der Sar ----------------
Rafael ------ Evans ------- Vidic ------ O'Shea
------- Carrick ------------ Scholes ----------
Park --------------------------------- Ronaldo
------------------------ Rooney --------------
--------------- Berbatov ---------------------

Subs: Kuszczak; Neville; Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Nani; Tévez.

I'd like to think this is finally another game where we start a spurt of goals, winning maybe 3 or 4-0 tonight. It's hard to see at the moment, but as long as we start on the front foot and create some early chances (and more importantly take one early) we'll go on and rattle them. I hope we keep another clean sheet, too.

Neville, Nani and Giggs/Anderson/Tévez will probably all play a part in this game at some point.

I both hate and love late kick offs at the same time... Means I don't have to wake up, but when I wake up this ealry I have to wait four hours ._.

Head to Head

These clubs are meeting for the second time this season at Old Trafford. The first was on 23 September when United won a third round Carling Cup tie 3-1 with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Nani.

The Teessiders have proved awkward opponents for United over the years. They've not failed to take points off United in each of the last seven seasons, and have only returned from Old Trafford without any points in one of the last five league visits.

Home and away
League (inc PL): Man United 49 wins, Middlesbrough 29, Draws 22
Prem: Man United 14 wins, Middlesbrough 5, Draws 7

at Man United only
League (inc PL): Man United 29 wins, Middlesbrough 11, Draws 10
Prem: Man United 6 wins, Middlesbrough 3, Draws 4

Not a bad record against us at all.

Obvious statement alert...but this is a critical match for us. With Chelsea seeming to falter, it is imperative that we keep the pressure on Liverpool. If we win our games in hand we will only be a point behind them. I'm not trying to sound like a scouser here by harping on about having games in hand - but from their perspective they need to be reminded / persuaded that their points cushion is not concrete.

A good performance and win tonight will help achieve this.

I'm really looking forward to this game.

- VDS -

- Rafael - Evans - Vidic - O'Shea -

- Ronaldo - Carrick - Anderson - Nani -

- Rooney - Berbatov -

If we get an early goal I can see it settling us down and maybe we can go on and win comfortably. Boro have looked very poor of late so we should take full advantage of that.

Can't wait but its shit its on that horse shit channel called Setanta

Yeah Sir Alex is a bit of a spastic, I wish we had someone else to pick the team for him because he never makes it attacking enough.

We're such a boring team. Sir Alex is such a boring manager.

Grow up.....oh yeah, sorry.

Its not against the law to be unhappy with some of his lineups is it??

It's not against the law, it is stupid to complain about a line-up before the team has even played though.

It might lack creativity, then again it might put on a great performance and lead us to a 3-0 win.

Could do.

Could do.

Exactly, so to say a team with Carrick, Ronaldo, Park, Berbatov and Tevez lacks creativity is a bit odd, because there is a good chance that team would beat Middlesborough but you make it seem as if it's a bad team.

I'd take Nani over Park. We just don't really need him in games where the winger doesn't have to track back all the time.

To be fair I think I understand what he was 'trying' to say.

For me (and him I think?) Park's and Fletcher's strengths aren't in breaking teams down which is what most of our games are about at home. Their strengths are invaluable in certain games but for me I don't think this one is a game for them. Nani and Anderson are much more likely to create something in my opinion.

If he didn't mean this, then I'm sorry - he's a spastic ;)
