Manchester United vs. Newcastle United

any chance for rooney hernandez start or would it be rooney and berba

I would think Hernandez and Berbatov would be more likely than a Rooney and Hernandez strike force due to Rooney being clearly off the pace at the moment.

I just hope Scholesy can score a couple more goals in the two games against Newcastle this year. He said he loved scoring against Newcastle and that they were his favorite team to score against.

I don't think it is going to be a walk in the park as most people see it. First game of the season never is.

Whats the deal with Patrice Evra?

How come he's not in anyones' predictions? Is he injured? Why didn't he play at all in pre season or in the Charity Shield game?

WHAT THE feck IS GOING ON?

Thanks.

Fergie said they did some maths and found out he's averaged 55 games each season for the past 5 years, so they gave him an extra weeks rest. He is back in training but won't be match-fit in time for the first game or two.

5-1 against Fulham IIRC the start season we wrestled our title back from Chelshit.

Starting in a similar fashion would work quite well for me.

Amazing how many people are dropping Rooney already  Muppets.

Does Wayne really look ready to start? I didn't watch the England game and with him you can't ever count him out but, perhaps it is better he comes on as a sub either as an exercise to get him match fitness or as a spark because we are fumbling.

Then again after being booed off - he might have a point to prove.

Either way - Monday just can't get here fast enough.

Rooney looked fine yesterday. Some good buildup play, some creativity, and scored a nice goal that was offside. Plus, once he hears his name being sung by the OT crowd you know he'll be up for it. He just wants to be loved.

I love United Newcastle games, I dunno what it is about them. I think its because I can't stand their fans. Anyways Hernandez will come off the bench and score to justify me putting him in my Fantasy team.

ABSENCES & CONSIDERATIONS
1. Hargreaves, Ferdinand and Anderson out for Man Utd, Obertan you can only assume is out also
2. Ritchie De Laet and Paul Pogba are apparently suspended for this
TheFA.com - Suspension Lists
3. Evra is getting his extended rest and Gary Neville lacks match fitness apparently
4. Long haul flights for Hernandez (in Mexico), Rafael (in the USA) and Park (in Korea), the extra day will make a massive difference, but Park I believe is unlikely to be involved as his friendly was later and he probably has to travel more.
5. Vidic, O'Shea, Park, Evans, Gibson, Fletcher, Rooney and Hernandez played, Brown and Rafael called up.

My guess would be:

Van der Sar; Brown, J. Evans, Vidic, O'Shea; Valencia, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani; Rooney, Berbatov

Subs: Kuszczak, Rafael, Smalling, Carrick, Scholes, Hernandez, Owen

with Amos, Fabio, Neville, Gibson, Cleverley, Park and Macheda as backup.

Saving Scholes for Fulham.

Why wouldn't Scholes start this one? I think Nani looks like his fitness level is not quite there yet. Therefore I say Giggs on the left instead of Nani, Scholes in the middle.
Also, how did Rooney look midweek? He hasn't had a full preseason. I would even consider Owen-Berba. Both rested and looked sharp. My only concern is how would Rooney take it

It's on TSN2 in Canada, fellow Canucks. It looks like Setanta won't have it all their own way this season. I had to subscribe, but I dropped GolTV and Fox Sportsworld, which are both basically shite - Ray Hudson! - so I'm breaking even, given I already have the fifteen fecking dollar Setanta. Oh well, anything to avoid the shite web streams I've been watching this preseason.

You're no Canadian.

I know Monday kick off is good for the squad but its bloody annoying for me. I want to see United this weekend dammit. How much more am I suppose to wait.

funny how threads often linger 1 post from the end of a page....
