Manchester United vs Newcastle United

HT:Started well but then Newcastle came back into the game and showed why they have been hard to break down

Wasteful again from us in the final third. Passing is a bit off there. We can build on this though.

Reminds me of the discussion on BBC Radio Manchester's Red Wednesday show this week: results v our historic good football.

Results today and for the rest of the season please.

Half time. We're playing fairly well but a few individuals need to wake up. Rooney, Giggs and Young have been poor. Hernandez has messed up a couple of chances but at least he's getting into those positions. Carrick and Nani have been good and I'd like to see Nani getting more of the ball on the right running at their left back.

We need to stop giving the ball away in stupid places and be a bit more clinical in the final third, other than that we've been ok.

WTF@ Obertan???

How come you didn't do shit like that for us?

Because he wasn't up against such an inept LB as Patrice Evra every week. We should be very concerned with how lazy and sloppy Evra has become.

Oh and playing nani on the left and young on the right is ridiculous imo. both look half the players they actually are.

Confident we'll come out of this game with a couple of goals, it's a nice open game and it'll just take a few players (Young, Rooney in particular) to step up.

HT. 0-0

That was alright, I guess. But being alright won't win us this game.

We've been a bit lethargic with our attacking so far. We're creating decent opportunities but the final ball is lacking and Hernandez in particular isn't sharp today. We should be ahead in this match already. I'm sure Fergie will tell the players to up the tempo before we let this drift away. Get more of the ball to Nani, Rooney, Young and Giggs.

Fairly poor half from us, has to be said. We need to get the ball down and actually try and play, been way too many long passes forward and we're letting the game be way too end to end. Also need Rooney to firstly switch on and then get himself in the hole and help bring people into the game. At least it's been pretty comfortable, just need to take it up a few gears and we'll get a goal.

im not sure what it is but we try these passes when there's an open red shirt nearby.

case in point: Rio punts up the ball while he was Giggs showing for him who could have switched fields more effectively.

the funny thing is, the problem is only with us. you cant really credit newcastle too much because we've just given the ball up due to our own carelessness. they've been pressuring well not well enough to where I'd say it's really given us trouble. we just let ourselves get sloppy.

This is the problem we have sometimes. We start getting in the mood with our passing then we act as if it will come off like we're Barcelona or something and just get sloppy. It's really annoying.

Some positives is that our attack is looking better. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this but for the first 15 minutes or so, Hernandez was taking players on which was a delight to see. Sign of things to come. Our attack was very good in this period but for whatever reason, we just let up.

Roll on a better second half.

Why dont we ever just put our foot on the ball and pass it around. Why does it always have to go forward even when we only have one person up front. Just pass it around, tire out the opposition and pick the times to attack. Its not that hard to do.

Some really spoiled feckers in this thread this is the EPL not La liga every game is a battle we are not going to steam roll every team we are doing alright we are playing against a team who are currently flying high.

Decent chances ffor Chich and Giggsy to have put us ahead and a great block from Vidic off Obertans goal line cross. All in all it was a pretty even half.

Evra is again the biggest concern for me. His positioning is woeful, and his willingness to try to close down a cross is non-existent.

It's getting to time he was no longer automatic first choice. His poor form has been going on for far too long now.

My quote feature isn't working but anyway @Kraftwerker, Hernandez hasn't been that poor. I think it's more accurate to say he's unlucky. He's kept a few moves alive. Think you're being selective. Carrick has been okay at best. Not sure how you're ignoring his errant passes.

Carrick has again been magnificent.

Just not clicking up front.

very open match...credit to Newcastle for what they contributed.

Magnificent is well over the top. He's been very good for sure but he isn't as if he's pissing all over their midfield.

But yeah Carrick's been good. Nani's been good but I can't figure out his role. He's spending too much time in deep areas tucking in rather than by the touchline running at fullbacks. Young and Rooney need to step up. Both have looked lethargic and poor.

Chicha has been very sharp I thought even with the missed chances, he's been heavily involved. Think Rooney has looked far more out of it, getting knocked off the ball or giving it away.

Lets hope we just get a little more careful with the ball. I don't want us to become too patient and become overly slow in our attacks just not try knock through the killer ball every time. Get Nani more on the ball - he'll make things happen.

What? He's been one of our best players!

The only really decent ball Obertan put in was due to Evra being fecked after winning a ball and dribbling it 40 yards and then the move breaking down leaving him to leg it another 70 yards to get back in.

I really enjoyed that half (despite us not being 12 up by half time, obviously).

Proper game of football.

Carrick has been good but we're just missing a little spark from the middle I feel, its a little too pedestrian in there at times.

Get the wingers back on the right sides and start stretching them a bit. Hernandez has been unlucky in the first half, hopefully he gets a few chances in the second half aswell, I'd put money on him putting one away.

Overall enjoyable half of football, we started off brilliantly, then Newcastle came back into it. Come out flying in the second half and I think we'll have too much for them.

And we haven't been poor. We've been wasteful in the final third and a few key players are having poor games. Our overal play as a team has been pretty good.

Lads it's 0-0 isn't it? We're not losing 2 or 3-0. Have some bloody faith for God's Sake.

I echo that. I think we will score soon. Not sure why our passing has gotten sloppy. What do you think?

People saying we've been poor clearly didn't watch Stoke-Blackburn today.
