Manchester United Vs Olympic Lyon

fecking hell!!

Rooney on his own up front at home? Are we trying to play for a 0-0 or a scrappy 1-0?? Are we paying too much respect to Lyon? :nervous:

Anyways, these days Fergies squad selection always has me shitting bricks prior to kick off and yet we have been getting decent results. Lets hope the trend continues.

Come on United!!

C'Mon man, we got carrick and anderson in there as well, and ron and nani on the wings, I think we got enough offensive strenght today.

something like that

Just been watching Benzema's interview on ITV4

He reckons our back 4 are "slow" twat

He is really becoming a bit of a twat, he was played on the left of a 4-3-3 in the weekend and he did a Chimbonda when subbed off, then moaned to the press about it.

It's not a bad team, but I'm amazed.

No Tevez or Scholes. Giggs not on the bench. If this backfires, Fergie will get the flak.

Let's hope the players out there are up to it.

FFS, John Giles giving out about Nani.

"Yeah Graeme but why did he pick Nani?"

feck off old man, have you not seen him lately?

And now Souness and Dunphy giving out about Carrick. Does Dunphy not remember the last time he had bad words to say about Carrick?

I agree, but Giggs was a doubt before hand.
So i imagine it's injury that has kept him out.

Giggs is injured, and that team is more than good enough to see out the likes of Lyon.

Im assuming Giggs isnt fit, else he would definately be on the bench at least.

Very strong side though. I think Nani and Ronaldo can tear their defense apart in the first half.

I wonder whether we'll ever name the same centre midfielders two games in a row again

where is noodlehair's customary pre match line up rant?

Its been a pretty good omen for us this season. Come on noodle, get your finger out.

Yesssss i got the line-up right.

This is our best line-up to play oppostion such as Lyon.

Flecther and Carrick are perfect pairing to stop any over ambition lyon might show.

Can Nani step it up a gear into the cl? Can Ronaldo shut all the anti united fans?

Starting to feel very optimistic, its about time we send out our signal to europe again

Come-on united.

First of all, I never said it wasn't.

But I'm not having that argument. "More than good enough". Why take chances? It's a champions league knockout game. If you want to put out a team that's "good enough" to beat the opposition, do it against Derby at the weekend.

All I'm saying is Fergie has taken a chance. If it works he once again proves his genius, if it fails, he would have to take a lot of responsibility for it.

Great team.

Hargreaves-Scholes from the start on saturday fresh, and today Anderson, Carrick and Fletcher will hopefully do the job.

Lyon's main threat will be Juninio's freekicks, even 60 yards out.

Funny that there was a point in time where we were complaining about our lack of strikers due to injuries, suspensions etc. Now that we have them all back, we don't want to use them.

Still a good lineup though.

Don't give me that memory now.
One of the worst nights of my relatively short life...

I knew as soon as they got it it was going in. When the free kick was given I walked straight out the room and up to bed. Seconds later I heard a lot of swearing. One of the most depressing moments ever.

Now let's go shit all over Lyon!

Very good team and very good bench. We need to dominate the midfield in this game and really give it to Lyon. Its imperative that we get the first goal tonight. Cmon you reds, dont give them a chance!

I see what your saying, but i wouldn't say Fergie's taking chances. All of the players in that starting line-up have been in fine form. Alot of people are looking at it like, playing Fletcher may be a bit risky for this type of game. But he hasn't necessarily played bad when he's got his chances. Infact he's taken them very well when called upon.

And when i meant "good enough" i meant that on paper we still look a hell of a lot stronger than Lyon. The attacking talent there is vast. Its there for the taking.

Not convinced Fletcher instead of Scholes is the way to go but I think if we play our usual high tempo, attacking game we'll have too much for Lyon.

Fletcher to score from a Nani cross? Maybe.

Should be able to dominate midfield, I hope.
