Manchester United vs. Queens Park Rangers

A bit of a strange team selection, yes, but I still think we will win this comfortably.

Interested to see how this will work out.

This is going to be one of those occasions where pre match moaning isn't as prophetic as it was claimed to be after the Norwich game.

Looks like a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Fletcher should add some energy to midfield but I would've preferred Cleverley/Anderson alongside him instead of Scholes. I also would have liked DDG starting.

When playing the managerless bottom team, that's not going to be a great feat.

There has to be some serious underlying reason for this, because on the face of it, it seems bonkers. Even if they're abysmal in training, today would've been the perfect game to give our young midfielders form fitness & confidence.

We'll probably win with a couple of goals.

But I'll assure you that it will be boring, slow football, and we'll be overrun on numerous occasions in midfield.

I don't mind this line-up actually. Carrick and Valencia needed to be dropped and I think Fletcher will at least add some urgency and drive to our midfield. Rooney too, delighted he's back.

Would have liked to have seen Cleverley or Anderson start ahead of Scholes but I expect they will both come off the bench. And Scholes should get more time and space than he does in away games so it doesn't fill me with the horror I had for the other games lately.

In fairness it's an eleven that really should be beating QPR at home, comfortably too. If they don't it's the players that should be looking at themselves, and not Ferguson.

100% agreed.

Can't wait to see Fletcher play in the PL again! Unless he plays, we won't know if he can get back to the player he was.

Big game for Welbeck and young. Both need morale boosting performances.

Team easily good enough to thrash QPR and I hope they carry some of the emotion from yesterday's celebration into this game.

Anyone know if The King, Ruud and the like have stayed back to watch the game? Would be great to see many ex players all watching game together.

no natural width on the bench today but we weren't getting much form the wide areas lately anyways.

Agreed, although the keeper selection will hopefully be but a footnote come 5 o'clock.

If it is indeed something like 4-2-3-1 it could finally mean that the penny has begun its descent for Fergie, we shall see.

I'm quite pleased to see Fletcher given gametime myself. We need him back to fitness and QPR home is the right game for that.

Scholes is the wrong partner is we look at form, I would have preferred Clev or Ando BUT Fletcher is going to be a lot more comfortable and familiar with Scholes.

Last weekend was ridiculous but I'm not overly fussed about this week's midfield.

Good to see Fletcher start. This isn't the starting XI I was expecting, but it's still far more than good enough to bring victory home to mama.

Scholes & Fletcher in a midfield 2!
Smalling dropped for Evans!
Welbeck on the left!
Young on the right!
Lindeguard in goal!

At least SAF knows how good Rafa we at least we have RVP and Rooney up front.

We've all said we should still win, doesn't change the fact that its another shite selection. Why in the world won't sir Alex play our two best midfielders this season together, or consistently? Scholes, who has been pretty poor, has probably played the most outside of Carrick, who has been awful. I mean what do they need to do to start together? Like someone said, he might want them ready for later this season, but that makes no sense because they'd have hardly played, and won't be ready at all when it's time for them.

What good will it do to play welbeck on the left again? Has he had one decent game there, ever? What about rotating de gea? He's a keeper ffs, they don't get tired, they don't need to be rested every few weeks.
I really don't see why we don't play our best players when they are all fit in their proper positions.

SAF will say he utilising his squad, there is a long season ahead, saving for the bigger matches ahead, this should be a relatively easy home win etc etc etc

tbf, De Matteo played all his best players every game and now they are tired & shit, so there may be some point in these selections.

I would be interested in knpwing what are Ando and Clev being punished for when Carrick and Giggs start against West Ham on Wednesday.

Lets see then. Dont understand why Clevs and / or Anderson are not starting more games but definately a good attacking trio

Eh? He has played that formation countless times, Rooney always drops behind the leading striker. There's nothing out of the ordinary about this team at all, bar maybe Young switching to the right.

 The size of that kid next to Evra.

Big question for me is when are we actually going to have some consistency with our midfield selections? As of yet, we have nothing to build from but rely on individual quality to pull us through. That's just not good enough.
