Manchester United vs. Reading

Yeah, Scholesy could be back and Powell should be on the bench atleast.

I really want to see Januzaj on the bench tbh.

Lindegaard

Smalling--Evans--Vidic---Buttner
---Powell--Scholes--Anerson
---Nani----Hernandez--Young

This is not my predicted line up, this is my sought after line up :)

The FA Cup games are crucial because of the massive league lead for games that have more importance in the do or die sense.

Would love it, but would imagine SAF would wait until next CC cup rather than FA, hope I am wrong though :)

Yeah, can't see it happening.

Their would be a stronger lineup than most are predicting for this game.

Lindegaard

Smalling
Jones
Vidic
Buttner

Valencia
Cleverley
Scholes
Young

Welbeck
Hernandez

Team should be...

GK: Lindegaard

RB: Rafael
CB: Smalling
CB: Vidic
LB: Buttner

RM: Nani
CM: Anderson
CM: Cleverley
LM: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: Hernandez

Subs: De Gea, Evans, Scholes, Giggs, Valencia, Welbeck, RVP

I see no reason why we should go OTT on resting players, FA Cup is still massively important to us this season and we dont want a replay

The real question is not whether the game is important to us or not. Whoever we put out, they will be capable of beating them so why not rest the more important players. This game is best for the use of the rotation system so younger players have opportunity to shine. :)

You really start to appreciate the strength of our squad here. We have players like Anderson, Cleverley, Hernandez, Young, Nani, Smalling, Vidic and Valencia who did not start last night and could easily start and win comfortably in this match.

Lindegaard

Smalling
Jones
Vidic
Evra or Buttner

Valencia
Cleverley
Anderson
Nani

Kagawa

Hernandez

Carrick, Evra, Rafael, Rooney, RVP all rested.

Kagawa, Nani and Valencia all play. Probably with Welbeck but most like Danny will be on the bench and Hernandez will start. Hope Powell also makes the bench.

Expect a middle three of Anderson-Cleverley and possibly Jones but if Scholes is fit - then Scholes.

We should be looking to go all the way in the Cup.

I hope we have at least one youngster on the bench, just in case we get the chance to give them some game time. Most likely Powell.

Lingard

Smalling
Vidic
Evans
Buttner

Powell
Clev
Anderson

Welbeck
Chicharito
Nani

I don't see the squad being changed quite as much as that. Not with the game being 5 days after the Madrid game. Fergie will not want to drop a single point, so will try and keep some form of consistency in the starting line up, rather than 9 changes.

This doesn't make sense to me.Buttner is a LB and also played when Evra hasn't and yert you put Evans in your formation

Well like I said Buttner may well start, the reason I put Evans at left back is because I feel he needs games rather than rest at the moment.

It's a cup match.

It's the FA Cup innit?

He does your right, and if we can get Lindegaard up top for the last 15 mins as our Striker, I think that will give him a real confidence boost.
Penis.

I think Welbeck should start. He might really kick on after the Madrid game.

I'm sure SAF has in mind who will play in the CL second leg and then he'll work backwards as to who plays in what match. Obviously he wants to win all three matches with the Madrid contest being the most vital and league contest the least crucial at this point. So I don't expect him to put out a soft team v Reading. My thought is Rooney gets the start in the FA Cup, but will be on the bench v QPR and RVP is on the bench for the FA Cup and will start v QPR. Chicharito to start in the FA Cup. Evra rest in the FA Cup, but I think SAF will want most of the back four to play Madrid to play v QPR.

Hoping and expecting a very strong side. There's 5 days "rest" either side of the game.

For some reason I thought the game was on Saturday and was going to miss it - work from home on Monday so hopefully watch it if it's on.

Prediction of line up:

Lindegaard
Smalling, Evans, Vidic, Buttner
Nani, Anderson, Cleverely, Young
Welbeck, Chicharito

Last time they killed us on corners/crosses - so expect the back line that will be more more adept at handling that.

Welbeck needs a game finally as a striker - hopefully this will be it.

I'd say play a half-strong line up for this one, and then play the other half against QPR.

Rooney and Hernandez will play.
Cleverley and Carrick will play.
Vidic and Smalling will play.
Lindegaard will play.

rooneys forms still a bit off so i'd play him. See no gain from resting DDG and Rafas young enough to play every game. hopefully scholes is fit too.

i'd go

DDG
Rafa
Smalling
Vidic
Buttman
Cleverley
Ando
Scholes
Nani
Chico
Rooney

could be a good game this, reading will certainly be going for it and we're scoring plenty of late.

I think Sir Alex should rest a few players for this tie, should be very winnable.

de Gea

Jones Evans Smalling Büttner

Nani Cleverley Ando Young

Welbeck Hernandez

A pretty strong team!

Haha what the feck are you on about? Evans has played left back before on a number of occasions, your acting like it's something that will never happen. You make an excellent point though, great contribution.

No doubt Buttner will start, that will be the obvious choice I only put Evans at left back because I think he's one of a few defenders that will benefit from playing rather than being rested. Jesus...imagine the uproar if something totally unrealistic like Valencia playing right back would have been in my team id have never heard the end of it.

I think we can put out a very strong and respectful team to deal with Reading without risking too many starters for QPR:

Lindegaard
Rafael---Smalling---Vidic---Buttner
Nani---Cleverley---Anderson---Young
Kagawa
Hernandez

Only really Buttner is anything like a risk there; rotating keepers seems a bit unnecessary but Lindegaard could still do with a game. If Young isn't ready to start, then the traditional Valencia-Nani combo should get a go.

de Gea
Rafael Smalling Vidic Buttner
Cleverley Anderson
Valencia Kagawa Nani
Hernandez
--
Lindegaard; Evans; Scholes, Powell, Young; van Persie, Welbeck

It'll be unlike us to play one striker against a team who are likely to finish in the bottom six at Old Trafford, but I can see all of Rooney, van Persie, and Welbeck getting a little break. More-so Rooney and van Persie.

Kagawa's place could go to Powell or Scholes (or even Young) which I'd be happy with. While Lindegaard could replace de Gea and Jones replace Rafael, both of which I'd be fine with as well. Should have plenty of fire power on the bench, I'm not worried about this game at all but I can see QPR being a tough scrap for the points and Real Madrid is obviously going to be difficult, but we've got a good result at their ground so I don't doubt our chances to win the next three games at all.

Lindegaard

Valencia Vidic Smalling Buttner

Nani Cleverley Anderson Young

Wellbeck Hernandez

Hang on, let's not go too weak!?
Why rest too many players for this one, as it's QPR a week away, and THEN Real Madrid return

That said,a 5th round home game against a bottom 3 team is a top draw. Am sure Fergie will pick the right team.

Yep. Not to mention a 12 point lead as well. No need to gamble too much for this one.

We have QPR away, Norwich at home and then the 2nd leg vs Madrid. I still hope we rest enough players for the Reading game. It's the least important of our next 4 games imo and one in which we really can afford to rest players.
