Manchester United vs. Reading

Nani has been left out of the Portugal squad, so I'm assuming we won't be seeing him against Reading.

I'd try and freshen things up

DDG - Smalling - Vidic - Evans - Buttner - Kagawa - Giggs - Carrick - Young - Rooney - Welbeck

Lindegard - Rafael - Rio - Anderson - Valencia - RVP - Hernandez

i'd hope to get this game sown up and get Anderson and Hernandez on for Carrick and Rooney

RVP has looked jaded but maybe he needs a goal

They did almost draw with us at home just a month ago in the Cup. Just saying we shouldn't take them too lightly.

BUT.

It's a great fixture to have at a crucial point in the season. Get in, get out with 3 points and then calm the f*ck down, and get ready to rope in the title. It's been a relatively poor 10 days, but this represents the best chance for the team to get back to business.

Almost draw with us? Were you watching the game? It was a complaceny high stroll, where we could have lifted the level at any stage.

Reading at home is a perfect game to ease the slight fears of the Real and Chelsea games.
They're in terrible form, managerless, and should have been battered by Villa the other week.

I could potentially see the diamond out again for this with Rooney behind two strikers.

I can't see it, not at this stage with Young in and around, Valencia seemingly fit enough to play, Welbeck, Kagawa etc etc. Don't think an injury to Nani forces us to change our tactics against a managerless side (not that you were suggesting that).

I think we'll see something like:

De Gea, Smalling, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Anderson, Valencia, Rooney, Young, RVP.

Think Kagawa will get a start, especially after the hatrick.

Game at home against a weak team where we'll have a lot of the ball sounds his style of game.

I hope to see Ashley Young on the right wing, Valencia's place is on the bench

I simply can't understand what has happened to Valencia. He was so dangerous last year. Always beat a man several times a game, always got several excellent crosses in a game. It's as if he's seen the writing and is getting ready to move on to a lesser team. I hope he can regain his confidence.

No Valencia starting would indeed be a massive boost. I'd prefer Rooney/Welbeck/Kagawa/Welbeck on the wings to him right now.

Do you think Fergie will have in mind that the likes of RvP, Carrick, Evra will play two games for their national teams and maybe feel they will be in danger of burn out if they play today? I'm certain Giggs will play as he was rested last week and have a two weeks rest after this one. Vidic also.

I don't know, it's a mystery what's happened to him.His game was simple yet so effective last season but now he just doesn't try the things he was successful at (crossing the ball and running at defenders)

Kagawa and Young on the wings, RVP and Rooney up top. The rest picks itself.

I can see Valencia starting. Probably the only game we can afford to play him to help him get his form back.

I hope we don't get complacent today, these are the kind of games where you get stung.

If Valencia starts, it's a massive disservice to some of the other squad members. To think you can be so shite and still get a start is just ridiculous. Let him sort out his mind over this international break.

But I wouldn't be surprised if he got the nod today. If he fecks up again, he needs a very very lengthy spell on the bench. We need to get back in gear not carry players who arent performing at the necessary levels.

I completely agree with this. It's an insult in a way to players that clearly deserve to start over him.

you know what's funny?
We've been saying that about Valencia for months now, and yet he's most likely still Fergie's #1 choice for a winger.

love the guy and his attitude, but he has been complete and utter shit lately, there's no reason why he should be getting the nod ahead of other wingers, heck I'd even be willing to start Welbeck every time on the right ahead of Valencia, he might not score (again), but he puts in a hell of a shift everytime he steps on the pitch, and has lately outshone a lot of other United players.

Strongest fecking team now please, play this like a cup final. Chance to go 15 points clear with a two week break coming up.

Do it.

Team talk written for Fergie now.

Rip Reading a new one, and get a 15point lead on the board asap.

OK beat reading, and even the most superstitious of fans won't deny that title number 20 is not in the bag.

If that City result doesn't lift the lads, I don't know what will. Lets get back on track!

Win this game with most appropriate team possible and then SAF start rotating so he can get the best team fresh and fit for FA cup replay.

We've had a rough few games but what more motivation can our players need now? Chance to hammer a nail in the coffin and go 15 clear. Come on United!

If City losing isn't enough motivation for United to absolutely destroy Reading, I don't know what else will motivate them..

That being said, 1-0, 2-1 or 3-2 would do just nicely!

I'll take a shit performance as long as we get 3 points. We've not had any easy games against Reading this season so 3 points anyway is good.

De Gea

Vidic

Carrick

Valencia
Young
Anderson
Cleverley

Welbeck

12-0 United
