Manchester United vs Real Madrid

What I never understand about the officials UEFA chooses for these games is that they always appear to be strong enough to give bizarre decisions but never strong enough to give correct ones.

bbc seem to think something's brewing, as there's been no word 45mins on.

Probably a good thing Fergie doesn't speak though. Although no one would blame him for using words like cheat.

Bet that ref gets pulled from the cup now. Which won't help us. at all.

No Rooney. What the feck?

On balance in that tie we were second best in Munich which ultimately did us.The Rafael second yellow was a consequence of a stupid first down to inexperience, so the two do not really comapre favourably as were good value in Madrid and were the better team here tonight.

Don't accept that at all. We were 3-0 up to Bayern! And then Rooney went off injured, and them Rafael got sent off.

Only then did they get back in the game.
And they only won the first leg late on.

Tonight's only saving grace is that it's only the 2nd round.

But now watch Barcelona go out, and Madrid stroll to the title.

Getting well annoyed at some chelsea supporting mates of mine who are trying to say we were playing like them. Completely different. Chelsea were all about defend and hope for the best, they didn't even defend well as they conceded so many chances. We had a tactical plan that was working very well in both games and were a clear threat on the counter before the ref screwed us.

About to watch the highlights on ITV.

Why am I doing this to myself? :(

Strolling right past a great Bayern side... A dortmund side that's already proven to be their equal, if not better, in the groups or a very good Juve side? Also assuming Barca can't put 2-3 past AC.

Calm yourself.

Didn't one of their players go in high on Evra and only get a yellow? If the ref is being ultra picky about dangerous play, then their keeper should've walked for punching Vidic in the face. What a joke tonight was.

We played the perfect game up until he red card. Ronaldo was nullified. I felt surprisingly comfortable, then the ref ruined the game.

Just got back from the game, fecking devo'd we was robbed tonight.

The worst referee I have seen for many a year.

Cakir recent red cards:

Tonight: Nani

Dec 2012: Cahill (Chelsea) vs Corninthians
Fifa club world cup final

Sept 2012: Gerrard (England) vs Ukraina
FIFA World Cup Qualifier

Apr 2012: Terry (Chelsea) vs Barcelona
UCL Semi

March 2011: Balotelli (Man City) vs Dynamo Kiev
Europa League round of 16

Anyone see a pattern?

Whoah!

Same. I can't bring myself to stand up from the sofa. I don't want to watch this again.

I havent got up from the seat I sat in four hours ago. Still shocked and I have missed two classes and have another one in half hour.

I feel really dumb. I should have expected as much. Once United went up 1-0 Real were in big trouble and then the ref came to their rescue. It happened when United lost Bayern in 2010. They were not going to beat United 11 v 11 and wee all know about the two yellows Rafael got. The one in the first half should have been a foul on Van Bommel and a yellow to him if yellows were being doled out.

Whereas United deserved to lose to Barcelona in the final a year earlier, Barcelona got away with four hand balls in their box vs Chelsea in SF second leg that year. I'm sure many will remember the sending off of RVP when he was playing for Arsenal v Barcelona for something that was extremely minor in kicking the ball just after the whistle went.

I just see the pattern of the Spanish and German clubs getting a lot of the refs major decisions. I would like for someone who disagrees with this to show me when Real Madrid or Barcelona have been jobbed like this in the last 50 or so years. I'm sure I'll be waiting for eternity because it just doesn't exist.

So feck off Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich you fascist bastards! It's no coincidence that UEFA and FIFA is controlled by a bunch of NAZIs.

The Ref was 100% bribed. Real Madrid have been getting all the decisions their way in Spain and in Europe since they landed their first Euro cup a long time ago and probably even before that. Porto were banned from the champions league a few seasons ago for offering referees money and also prostitutes the nights leading up to a game to influence their decisions.

To suggest Italian and Spanish teams are not doing the same is comical.....
Italian teams have obviously been low key with influencing referees ever since Juventus were dumped down a couple of divisions for bribing referees in Seria A but you can be sure that they will be up to their old tricks again once the spot light is on them less again.
What is 200,000 pound paid into a Swiss bank account for a referee from Real Madrid if they know that they will make 10 million quid upwards if the progress to the next round!!

Agreed.

someone posted that he has a patern of giving reds against English teams. Lets not forget how popular English teams are in the Far East...and the huge betting that goes on there.

I think he was bribed but not by Real...but by these betting syndicates from the Far East.

I think it was just a shit decision.

Yeah, agreed. Just the type that makes a decision for the sake of making a big decision.

Just has the desire to show that he has balls and wants to be centre of attention with his smug face.

Well, that's that for Keane. I will no longer remember him with even the slightest bit of fondness - he sounds almost happy about the red card. cnut of the highest order.

Yup. My least favourite ex-United player. He is a sour cnut of the highest order.

Bump... The ref killed the match by giving Nani an undeserved red card. The ABUs are happy, of course, cos' they hate to see Manchester United winning trophies. We, as Manchester United fans, are not cry babies, we know that our team was in a very good condition to go for the treble. It's been really hard but we lick our wounds and move on. Sir Alex Ferguson should be thanked for not having given his opinion on that day. As for Nani, for once I felt really sorry for him, I hate his antics, but the foul was a yellow card at most. The ref made a serious mistake that will surely hinder his own career. I hope UEFA have enough balls to come out and admit it.

That won't happen in a million years. And UEFA have already backed the ref over the decision.

A few people called it at the time, but now we know why Fergie reacted just like he did...He knew that was his last chance of number 3.

Hurts just that little bit more now. Knowing he was robbed of his final chance.

I don't buy that. He reacted like that because it was an atrocious decision in a game we were comfortable in.
