All Smith has to do now, is to keep up with the pace of Rooney and Ronaldo, be where he should be at crucial points and show a bit of fighting spirit.

Heart doesn't make you excellent, if you put me on the pitch in United's shirt I would look just as ambitious as Smith, so would any United fan around.
'heart' and ability are two different things. you should know that by now. if not, you're a lost cause, and it's pointless having further discussions.
he did brilliantly for us up front when he first joined...is very harsh to think he hasn't done much for us when he stepped up and played as a DMC for us last season...
...you can't just write him off after he plays out of position and is injured for a year, I hope he makes you eat your words when he is back to his best and played up front...

perhaps i should clarify: i was distinctly underwhelmed when we signed him, so i never rated him from the beginning. fair dues to the lad for being hardworking and all that, but there are certain qualities you need to get away from elite defenders if you are a striker, and i don't think he has them.
but like i said, i hope he proves me wrong today. i was fairly impressed by him in his cameo role on Saturday tbh...

Well, I've never been that critical over Smith.
I just think that he isn't good enough to win games for us, and against Rome we need as much players with such ability as possible. He's done fine for us as a back-up striker, I want him to remain with us and give his best but he's more of a striker who should be brought on in less important games to avoid the risk of first team players getting injured. Not a player that can replace first teamers without a significant difference.
- well, I think he does and he did really well at Leeds too when he was so young...and to be totally honest, I'd rather a player that gives 110% and slightly less ability than a player with lot's of ability and less heart...mind you, I think Smith has lot's of ability...anyways, sit tight, let's wait and watch...
