Manchester United vs. Swansea City

It's actually a scenario we have never seen before, if Newcastle don't get anything off City, with 2nd secure we are in a position where less than 7 goals and we concede the league.

I still have a feeling Fergie would play the percentage game and go for a safe win with the hope QPR have to play out of their skins to survive though.

I really don't think we can rely on QPR.

In addition, Newcastle are in a similar position to us in that goal difference will most probably be the difference for them, unless both Spurs & them can overtake Arse. They have to keep winning & hope Arse or Spurs trip up, they've also got to go to Everton for their last game.

This is going to go to the wire for 4th & 3rd.

Although I'm almost always a wait & see kinda guy, I'm not confident that Shitty will slip up.

That's as desperate as when some were hoping Wigan would get something at Chelsea 2 seasons ago. They got 7 goals stuffed past them IIRC.

Rooney
Welbeck

3-0 with Rooney getting 2 goals and Nani the third.

Do you read news mate? Both Evans and Welbeck are confirmed to be out of this game.

I figure we need at least 8 or 9 if we're going to start dreaming about GD. Six could still leave us needing to better City by 3 goals when they face relegation fodder QPR.

possibly. 6 or 7 certainly wouldnt suprise me. if we really needed another 4 at sunderland i could see that too.

I worry that against Sunderland, if we set out to win 5-0, it'll end up 5-3 or something.

That would all work only if City win both their games by one goal.

So basically, we're all living in a dreamland.

11-0 is a scoreline that would give us a decent shot at winning it on GD if City win by one goal. We'll be better by two goals and that'd be a reasonable advantage before playing Sunderland while they play QPR at home.

I think we hold the Premier league record for the largest winning margin, 9-0 against Ipswich in 1995.

I think Swansea are far better than that though.

I doubt we we would end up better than a 2, max 3 goal advantage. Their biggest defeat this season was 4-0 by Shitty in August.

I just don't know why when QPR had a player sent off we only manged 2-0 score against them,,,,we should have won it 5-0,,,,,we played with conserve energy approach though we didnt have a Midweek game in Europe to think about,,,,same can be said on the Fulham game scrapping a 1-0 home win !!very disappointing.:mad::mad:

You gotta admire the optimism...

you're not kidding - we are getting beat at Wigan and drawing 4-4 at home to Everton and people are talking about 7-0+ vs Swansea and 5-0 at Sunderland. Laughable. We need to conserve energy for next season y'know.

I'd really like to get into Fergie's head because he must've been pissed off at some of these lethargic "efforts", for the want of a better word. My guess is there was no hairdryer but maybe there'll be changes over the summer.

I see Mancini has got a reaction out of both Rodgers and MO'N regarding his comments.Mind games eh? He'sdrawn attention to it if nothing else. Not optimistic.

All we need is a two point conversion with our touchdown and a single field goal, I can see that happening.

Hopefully we'll go into the game off the back of Newcastle at least taking a point from City then it's back in our hands, as all this goal difference catch up stuff is pie in the sky.

Shame Welbeck is out, I guess Hernandez will have to play up top.

I'm not worried about playing Chicharito, I think he really should have gotten a few more games anyway.

If City drop points against Newcastle and we don't beat Swansea, we don't deserve to win the title and can have no complaints.

I know what you mean.
Swansea are a good side. At OT, I'd expect a win, but we might leave ourselves too open if we go for goals.
A sensible 2 goal win would do nicely.
We fecked up the league, lets not drop any more points.

If Newcastle do the business we don't our 10-0 wins. A 1-0 would do.

The timing of the games is in our favour. If city screw up we don't need to take any risks. If city win I expect all out attack from united. Exciting.

i have a bad feeling about this game. Really, United-Swansea 1:2

I've seen a sentance very similar to this in each matchday thread for the last 2 months or so.

Gimps.

Swans have been poor the last wee while and to be honest are playing for nothing but pride. For all thier pretty possession at home against us we never really gave them a chance and I expect the same at OT.

I do not see us scoring a heap though so I will go 2-0.

Strange weekend in that our game's significance is almost completely dependent on City's game.

Wait, people were being serious with there 7/8/9-0 predictions?

I'm sure we'll score as many as we can, since Wolves scored 4 against them away, I can imagine us doing better at home. But I wouldn't bet money on it.

It's in Newcastle's hands to determine if this match is a virtual dead rubber or a title winning one.
