Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

harry didnt look to impressed with them surrounding the ref again

On replay, Clattenburg clearly made a "What the F*** are you doing" at Gomes

Mark Clattenberg is a very good official but he got that terribly wrong but hell its been some time since we had some luck go our way.

Everyone who plays football at any level is told to play to the whistle, END OF! Gomes is a tool!

Justice in the end but spastic decision not awarding a free kick after Nani held the ball. It was either Penalty or FK, never resumed play... Ridiculous.

You're forgetting the part where advantage can be played. Gomes had the ball in his hands and the ability to get the losing team on the front foot - something he's been doing since the beginning of the game leading to their counterattacks. It was to Spurs advantage that the ball remained live... That was until Gomes put the ball on the floor, let Nani stand over it, watched Nani look at the ref for confirmation that he can kick it and consequently put the ball in the back of the net.

I don't think it was in the spirit of the game.... but since it went our way, I'll take it. United were already ahead with hardly any time left so it probably wouldn't have changed the outcome except for goal differential. If one goal higher GD makes a difference in standings at the end of the season I'll be very surprised.

Nani really needs to stop diving. He is embarrassing himself out there sometimes and because of his reputation, even times when he is actually fouled are not been given.

Should it not have been pulled back to the initial incident though??

I'm playing devils advocate

Talk about being biased. It was in the last five minutes and Tottenham had everything to play for. Wow if it was United in this situation, you would have been ranting on even if there was only one minute left in the game. They had almost 5-7 minutes left.

When advantage is played and the team then lose the ball right away the ref always calls it back and gives a free kick.

Saw the summary now, the goal was good. No doubt - Gomes fecked up.

How odd. Finally we're able to defend again!

Well done Nani, another great game today. Special mention to Rafa and Park who both played very well. Carrick getting some form back too.

Hard luck for Spurs who generally played very well and gave us a tough game tbh.

BBC:

EmRa on 606:l "Nani handles the ball as he goes down, and holds on to it. Gomes therefore has every right to assume it's a free kick, so he puts the ball down to take it. As the free kick wasn't given, Nani is allowed to nip in and score there, but it's a horrendous decision not to give the free-kick for handball

Yeah retard and it's even more horrendous not to have given the penalty!

Not when the goalkeeper has the ball in his hands, puts the ball on the ground and 5 seconds later an opposing player kicks the ball into the goal.

Spurs didnt lose the ball, they gave it away.

both defence and midfield was tops today.

Fergie is not going to have any more stupid points thrown away.

Can I say Simon Beck should be taken outback and shot? He is a joke of linesman. Wasn't he the mofaka that let Drogba score from 2-3 yards offside against us and today was calling us offside when we weren't? Idiot caved to Spurs and caused even more controversy.

Thanks goodness for the win - kick on from here.

Ok the penalty was not given. But what the heck was the linesman doing? thinking of his kiddie porn collection?

Nani handled the ball. The Spurs players were rightly upset about that. But in the end you have to play to the whistle.

utter joke officiating all round.

he obviously also cannot see when the ball goes over the line. totally a joke.

HAHAHA, Gomes, the gift that keeps giving. And Kaboul has the cheek to to argue, he should have been sent off. Always play to the fecking whistle, first rule of football. You don't let a striker shoot just because you think he's offside, you bloody make sure you save the ball first and think later.

Apparently so

wont be surprised Beck is demoted to the Conference which is where he belongs.

If this was the same linesman who didn't see Drogba's offside then I hope he never officiates a United game ever again.

There were a couple of marginal decisions in the game (Hernandez offside which looked level to me and a ball which went out for a goal-kick but he let Spurs play on) and he gave Spurs the benefit of the doubt each time. If it were down to him, there's no way that "goal" would have stood.

For the record, I wish the goal hadn't been given. I thought we were in control for much of the match and always looked as likely to score a second as Spurs were to score their first.
