Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

No Scholes starting.

#MUFC XI - VDS, Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Carrick, Park, Hernandez, Berbatov

#MUFC Subs TK, Brown, Smalling, Scholes, O'Shea, Obertan, Bebe

#THFC XI - Gomes, Hutton, Gallas, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Modric, Bale, Jenas, Lennon, Van der Vaart, Keane

#THFC Subs - Cudicini, Pavlyuchenko, Sandro, Bassong, Kranjcar, Palacios, Crouch

Corrected, Bale starts.

Carrick starting over Scholes? Maybe to counter the VDV threat, but Carrick will need to be on top form to provide the type of service to Berbarito that Scholes would. Other than that, a good team.

bale rested for the inter match .. will come on to terrorize us in the second half :(

van der Sar

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic

Spurs seem to be resting a few for Tuesday which is good, Happy with that side but a little bare on the bench maybe.

wtf, how has Park got selected?

Good news. Do you have the full spurs team?

Spurs team is wrong...

Don't think that Spurs team I tweeted is right. No Huddlestone, Bale DOES play. Fail. #THFC

Don't understand why we're leaving Scholes on the bench when we don't have to.

He's the best fit player we have and this is arguably our toughest fixture so far this season.

Are Carrick and Fletcher somehow going to carry each other?

Let's hope Park is better this evening than he was against Wolves (minus the goal).

1648: BREAKING TEAM NEWS
Michael Carrick is in the Man Utd side ahead of Paul Scholes, while Robbie Keane, Gareth Bale and Jermaine Jenas start for Tottenham

We have Park in there to keep it tight. I reckon we'll go for a 3 man midfield with Park playing on the right against Bale. Good team selection IMO.

Carrick is better defensively than Scholes.

I seriously don't understand.

We've got a feck load of injuries to key players. We don't have the luxury of being to just leave our only fit and in form midfielder on the bench, against a Champions League side, simply because Ferguson feels like it.

No other team would do this, and when we do it it almost always goes wrong.

Looks like 4-4-2 to me

If it's 4-3-3 it's going to be incredibly lopsided.

and if it's 4-3-3 that makes it even weirder leaving your best CM on the bench

Surely United can carve up the Spurs midfield of Jenas and Modric - should be plenty of space available. Scholes would be ideal for this with his passing and possession.

feck, Clattenberg is the ref.

Maybe playing against his old team will Carrick the boast he needs. Surprised Keane starts for Spurs, but not that surprised that Bale starts as well

perhaps SAF has seen something in training that you have not?

Their midfield can really be got at today. I'm stunned Redknapp has preferred Jenas over Palacios or Sandro. He made a whopping mistake last time we played them when he moved Bale to left back, is that one going to be as important?

Noodles, to be fair, you're a right fanny at times.

Just think that Spurs have gone a bit too attack minded. Jenas and VDV and Modric might leave lots of open spaces.
