Sir Alex: "For the sake of Harry Redknapp’s health, I hope we can avoid a controversial goal [like last season]

De Gea
Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra
Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Young
Berbatov, Rooney

Bench: Giggs, Park, Lindegaard, Fabio, Cleverley, Welbeck, Owen

Friedel could start tonight

Love that goal, we hardly knew anything about him and then he comes up with that.

as there are so many defensive injuries, i believe Carrick will start this match

Arry live on SSN does this guy ever stop.

"Well, the chairman tried to sign Neo_Mufc but unfortunately the Caf already 'ad him."

Random.

Berba then.

Seems right Sol, though I personally prefer Fabio to Smalling on the right-back. Nani and the twins always put on a good show, but on the night I think Fergie might feel more comfortable with Smalling to contain IncrediBale.

Edit: Damn, just read Pogue's note on Welbeck. I guess my prediction of his first goal this season is out the window then!

Anyone think Fergie will spring a surprise and Rio will play?

I'm still getting the feeling that Giggs or Cleverley will start over Welbeck or Berbatov. But I don't really mind, I'd be happy with any of the four starting as long as Carrick & Anderson are the deeper CM's.

And that goal gave us some points... we had a really shit start of the season in 2007.
Reading (H) 0-0
Portsmouth (A) 1-1
City (A) 0-1

We beat Tottenham 1-0 at home, thanks to Nani's strike, and went on to win the next 8 matches in a row before being held at the Emirates 2-2.

Looks ok though though i'd rather start Smalling-Evans in the center of defence and Fabio on the right.

Jones looks like a terrific prospect but he's just 19 and only just started playing for us. Quite a baptism by fire for him to start such a big game.

This is going by what Fergie said. He said Smalling, Jones and Evans will play.
