Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Anyone else hoping Smalling plays in the centre and not at full-back?

I too prefer him there. His athleticism makes him a better right back than Evans or Jones, and he's played quite well in his first two matches there. It's a stop gap solution, I feel, rather than a long term switch to the flank.

what's happening with myp2p? It says page not found. Did Comcast block it? Anyone else having problems with it?

Either SAF is clueless about this players or he is a liar. He was asked about Chicho on Friday and he said, "He should be back in a couple of weeks"!

seem like cleverly has overtake carrick position in the team.

I had a sneeky feeling fergies wouldnt start Berba and stick with Welbeck. The simple reason is SAF wants to give time to the new formation and tactics to work.

De Gea 20

Smalling 21
Jones 19
Evans 23
Evra 30

Nani 24
Cleverley 22
Anderson 23
Young 26

Rooney 25
Welbeck 20

Average 23

Got to love it!
Thats going to be the theme for the season, everyone talking about our team's average ages. More importantly is that only Jones, Cleverley, Young and Welbeck havent experienced winning anything at the top level (Welbeck may have been involved in title winning years, but not like he is right now).

Delighted again for Cleverley and Welbeck. It's got to feel great when the manager shows so much faith in you.

My only concern we have no holding midfielder - who is going to pick up Van der vaart?

Gary Neville is a surprisingly good pundit, even if he has an annoying voice.

Was reading the RAWK thread on him and, to be fair, most were complimentary. the consensus was "hate him as a player, but at least he talks sense and has legitimate insights".

Which is all you want from a pundit.

I think SAF will play the youngsters till they fail and we get beaten at some point. Then the oldies will take it from there

Think Nev is trying to make "get your rewards" his equivalent of "stay on your feet".....

Counted 4 in the last segment...

Jonny Evans :nervous:

He seems very fit this season so far. For the few times I have seen him this season, his display has made me less nervous about him.
What I worry though is his constant complaining he does to keepers, especially keepers who are not well establish. He will blame all his uncertainty on De Gea. Watch and see. I hope they will be nice to De Gea for some time before the haranguing.

Fergie has balls and real belief in these youngsters. I'm fully with him. They've earned a run in the side to show what they are capable of. Besides Spurs play open, attacking football and that should suit the players we've picked tonight. There's still enough experience on the bench to give us options if things go sour.

Good luck to them.

23 years and 6 months - average age.

With Fabio instead of Evra - it would be 22 years and 7 months...

It's a positive formation should be an open game - I think SAF without his first team defence will have thought might as well go on the offensive rather than strengthen the middle with ball winners to help the defence out.

It certainly is a vote of confidence in the young players - is there a better manager for developing youth?

Hmmm, interesting to see SAF counting on the young lads to do the job. Especially against Spurs! Huge bollocks that man.

Rather see Carrick for Cleverley and Berbatov/Hernandez for Welbeck to inject some experience. Our back four + goalie are inexperienced enough.

Agree with this. I think it's better to start the season with youngsters to get them some experience than to rely on them exclusively during the later stages.
