Didn't both Smalling and Rooney fire off two shots on goal from decent positions in the box? I know that Smalling did it at least...
My mind's gone blank. All I remember from my past is Valencia smashing crosses into defenders.

"We'll win this."

Where does the optimism come from? We have one tactic, knock it wide and play for corners, and it's shite.

Watch it with that kind of observation, you'll be called a Liverpool fan on a windup on here.

Cleverley should be closer to Carrick, offering him a chance to link up and then maybe he could start making his pointless forward runs. Why is he running away from the ball ?

Januzaj isn't playing great sure but he's a 18 year old lad who is inexperienced, this will happen.

Our team is just way too reliant on space behind defences. Once they sit deep we are screwed.

What position is Rooney playing?

As far as I remember he wasn't on the pitch for the first 15 minutes, then he started playing behind Cleverley, then he took over from Danny. Or something?

Why are people complaining about Valencia? He was our best player in the first half in my opinion.

You might as well be optimistic till its over. Plenty of time for the usual depression if needed afterwards. :(

You lot are hilarious. We're behind at HT so lets just resort to slating the standard scaepgoats rather than looking at the so-called stars of the team to be creating more. All I've seen at HT on here and twitter is about Valencia which is laughable, as if every time we play a match everyone forgets who he is and judges him on attributes that he's never had and blames him despite his complete isolation and minimal targets in the box. Won't be long before it's Cleverley's fault as well.

If we turn it around like we've done so many times before, most of you should be embarrassed.

We are fecking dreadful. You now realise we have more problems than we think. We are shit in midfield, wingplay and even defence.

Frankly I'm amazed we're 6th - clearly with all our issues Moyes is doing wonders to save us from relegation.

Wise up.

Have more than 0 successful crosses out of 12 walsh mate. I know what you mean but still, it's sad to watch. He's escaped his man atleast two times today and still couldn't cross it for shit.

Only Welbeck in the box nearly every time. Maybe the 5 foot 6 Januzaj at the back post marked buy giants.

I know what we should do...We should hit the ball out to Valencia and hope one of his crosses are accurate...No team would ever suss that out....feck me!!

Yep, there's a massive gap when Carrick is picking the ball of the defenders and its by biggest criticism of Clev. He just doesn't seem to know where to position himself in an open game. A tight game where he's clearly told to stay deep then he's fine, but any sort of freedom and he ends up on the wing half the time.

think I'd fancy a swap around of Welbeck to the left, Rooney up top and Januzaj in the hole, Fletcher on for Cleverley

I remember when he used to put decent crosses in. One of the main reasons Rooney scored so many headed goals back in the 09/10 season.

I know those rumours about Reus for 40 million are hilarious BS but if we could get a player like that in january for 40 million quid then you'd have to snap of the hand of the buyer as poor old Tony V just can't be relied on consistently anymore and if our only tactic is to get it out to Tony V then we are screwed...Valencia is not the only one in the team needing replacing though

I like the way you think, maybe we could aim for the first man so we can get a lucky deflection

In a fantasy world where Reus would be signed, I'd bet you anything that Valencia would still start for the club.

Valencia usually has 1 man to aim for and nobody overlapping. I'm not sure what you want him to do.

He needs to be aware that there aren't numbers entering the box each time he attempts crosses. He needs to include more to his game than just push forward and cross aimlessly into the box. Be a bit more like Adnan or Nani (i.e. use other foot, penetrate the box, etc.) and not just a one-trick pony.
