Saha and Ronaldo to return

Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha will be back for the Reds on Wednesday as United resume Premiership duties against Watford at Old Trafford.

Both players missed the FA Cup victory over Portsmouth on Saturday, but Sir Alex Ferguson expects to have both players back in his team for the midweek match. Ronaldo was given a week’s holiday and travelled to Dubai for a rest, while Saha was injured.

"We gave Cristiano a week's holiday," Sir told MUTV. "He played in the third place play-off in the World Cup on 8 July and the boy's not had [much of] a break since.

"There were one or two signs of tiredness in his game last week so we gave him a week's holiday. He went to Dubai, he had a good rest, is back and he'll play on Wednesday against Watford.

"Louis got a wee kick in the back of the knee. It's nothing serious, just bruising, but it was too late for today so we just left him. He'll be ok for Wednesday."

The boss also revealed that he had intended to rest Wayne Rooney against Portsmouth and Watford. BUt after coming off the bench to score twice and rescue the tie, he looks like playing on Wednesday.

“For the last week we've had this plan to rest him today and on Wednesday," said Sir Alex. "But he was in such sparkling form today that it makes it difficult to leave him out. We'll give it some thought."

Can't end up 4-0. You have to compensate at least one goal to the competition if Kidney is playing in the middle.

I like that team, but I would change Rooney and Larsson and put Park on the bench instead of Giggs.

We've got 3 matches in 9 days! Not healthy to play 90' of all three. We don't need Giggs for sure, and if we had Owen, I would rest Scholes as well.

I really hate to say it, but matches like this one, I wish would could have Owen-Mikel in the middle and rest Carrick and Scholes for Spurs.

If it came down to it, would you rather lose an important player for the rest of the year or drop points to Watford?
 
We have a habit of scoring 3 goals recently at OT against sides like this, so that's what i'm going with.

Giggs, Ronaldo, and a Scholesy header to finish off :)

To be honest, even if they have a full strength side, if we play to our potential then we will win.

Personally I would rest Scholes, Evra (agree he looks tired), Giggs and also Nev, who I reckon deserves a break.

Agreed, after the Arsenal match we need to do all we can to secure victory, and let's not forget that Watford wasn't the cake walk some thought it would be, earlier in the season.

Now that being said, i can see Fergie starting Giggs and Scholes on the bench, giving them a rest.

And tactically, Saha for Larsson, with our original strike pairing taking to the field once again [which i would advocate].

What team do you support?

Evans is at Sunderland on loan, also Bale and Hargreaves don't play for us!
 
I understand the logic of resting Evra but this is one of those games where I'd want to see him play. I think we'll dominate possession and have them pinned back most the game. What he offers going forward would be very handy to break them down and I doubt we'll be on the defence that often.

Again, three games in 9 days! Maybe this is why we need Bale, Gabby doesn't suit the style we will play vs. Watford, and Evra needs to be rested for Lennon. Tough call.

If either of them picks up a yellow during this game, they will miss the Charlton game, NOT the Spurs game. Suspension by accumulation of cards come into effect 7 days after the last card.
 
I hope Rooney doesn't have to play against Watford, and then if he scores against Tottenham hopefully he'll take his shirt off and get carded. Not that I want to see his hairy chest, but I'd rather have him be suspended for the game against Fulham then for the game at Anfield the following week.

im going for our first clean sheet since Villa away, nice and positive for me eh? :D

0-0 (remember hopeless Sunderland last year)

and the stand in keeper will have the game of his fecking life, 22 shots on goal 15 on target and the cnut will save absoulutely everything with every part of his body including one off his dick, two cleared of the line from shittu and two goals wrongly disallowed for offide.

:lol: Just had a funny thought, if Rooney actually manges NOT to get booked.. even when he's trying to be... could he just take his shirt off at some random point in the match :lol: i know .. sorry its that time of day. How soon does a red card come into play? Is that also 7 day delay? Just wondering ... don't expect it :nono:
