Manchester United vs. West Bromwich Albion

A bit too choppy for me, but you can't expect to hit high notes every night out on the town. If we keep the clean sheet I'll be very happy and we can forget about this one and move on.

Give Tony a rest, shift Welbeck out left and bring a goal threat. Done and done. Rest of the team look solid, with potentially the exception of Smalling not really looking like a RB.

Yeah Hernandez for Valencia could be good, feel Valencia could do with a rest plus would like to see how someone with better link up would do on the right with Kagawa and clev to play off.

That Smalling/Long incident was never a foul. Long goes out of his way and actually ignores the ball to get in front of Smalling and even when he does, he flops himself down. Never a penalty.

Welbeck is the new Carrick. People who only judge players by goals and assists won't appreciate what he does. His movement, touch and short passing are excellent.

I did not think it was a pen, was a clumsy tackle but not worthy of a pen.
I didnt even think it was much of a tackle.
It was more a sliding block in anticipation of Long cutting in.
Long didnt go for the ball, cut inside and ran into a sliding Smalling.

you can laugh all you want, but he needs to impress in these kind of games against a shit West Brom side. If he doesn't he won't get a sniff for a long time, and it will affect his development, which could see him leave. :)

Oh shit, I thought the Nasri red card was a joke! Come on you canaries!

Carrick again has been great.Early in the first half, Long was about to outpace Vidic in a 1v1 duel but Carrick came back to superbly help his captain.

I agree. However a few goals would help, seeing as he is a striker.

I'd say it's a good sign that he's able to come in to the side after little football, show an excellent work rate and maturity in his play, just what you want from a young striker being brought in. He might not be a great goal scorer yet but certainly looks a good footballer.

The only problem with that is Welbeck is a striker. It's his job to be scoring goals.

Welbeck doing great at closing down, but right now it's all workrate and no end product. That's a problem, with Hernandez already ahead of him as 3rd choice right now, and delivering on a more consistent basis. 1 goal so far this season for Welbeck, and it's not enough.

I like Welbz, but the problem you get is, if you have a striker that does not contribute goals or assists then he will get no games when we have players that offer both.

Blimey give it a rest chap. He's barely started up front all season, so it's hardly surprising he's not on top form just yet.

He has an under performing Valencia on one side, and a guy who has been out for months behind him! And no Rooney or VP to help out!

I think he's a good footballer too, a very good one, but a top class striker is judged on goals and assists. He has 1 in 20 which is really not good enough. He's not playing enough games, and that might be an explanation, but again he must impress against these kind of teams.

how many starts has he had actually up front?

Not many.

Welbecks goal output has improved a lot for the national team but he's not really had the chance to improve in the same way for us because he's been shunted to the wing. It'll get better but I think we should be happy with his performance so far considering he's not played a lot of football through the middle for us.

Welbz hattrick in the second half. You heard it here first.

And in the run in, when we need to win games, you will be happy to drop RvP, Roo or Cheech to give a striker who does not score game time? I already said I like him, he just needs to contribute more in the way of goals, it is what a striker is there to do.

He's had few chances to shoot today let alone score.

It's a problem if as a team we're not scoring. If Welbeck is helping to facilitate good attacks whilst not always getting the assist then I don't see the issue. Needs to improve his finishing sure, but he's still young and like I said as long as he's still contributing to the attack I don't see why it'd be such a big issue.

He difference between them is that Carrick has always been excellent in doing what he's supposed to do. I think everyone can agree that welbeck needs to seriously improve his finishing.
