I'd start with Giggs in centre maybe, you need to really attack this side.

Really confident about this. 5-0 United.

we must try and rack up our goal differences in this match before playing everton and liverpool.

Still plenty to play for. There's a chance we might snatch the third CL spot

Yep, thats what Id go for too. And Id instruct them to come out storming with maximum tempo and win it in the first 20 minutes.

I m going to this game. My first ever United game. FINALLY! I really can't wait for Saturday.

I hope we stop being "cautious" and "gamble" with Rafael.

Whatever we do, we must not play Scholesy in a 4-4-2, Fletcher is not Keane and cannot cover for a 35 year old Scholes, no matter how good he is...

really? i remember my first game, my friend looked at me and was like, dude are you ok? i was stunned when i entered the pitch, dream come true! enjoy it mate! where you sitting?

In Sultan's seats, don't really know whereabouts they are but he said they were good!

I cannot wait.

Players who I think should definitely start.

I know Evans was iffy against Fulham but I don't think he should be dropped. The entire back 4 was pretty bad in that game because they were totally exposed and often outnumbered.

It has nothing to do with his performance against Fulham. Evans has played many games already this season + he plays 2 games for NI next week + Rio is still out for some weeks = I would give him a litte break.

Fair fecks I suppose. I'd still rather he played if i'm being honest though.

Unless Northern Ireland have a friendly planned Evans plays one game

hmm international week ...

Got to have a look at this:

PORTUGAL - Nani
3rd Cyprus (h)
7th Norway (a)

ENGLAND - Rooney, Carrick, Brown [oh wait ] ... Scholes?
3rd Bulgaria (h)

Checked to see if Mexico, Brazil, South Korea and Ecuador have friendlies or qualifiers... so far I've found ...

BRAZIL Rafael da Silva

A decent "non-called up" team might be:

Van der Sar, G. Neville, Brown, Smalling, Evra, Obertan, Cleverley, Scholes, Giggs, Owen, Berbatov

probably lacking a defensive midfielder here, a fit Anderson perhaps to replace Cleverley in there.

^^ Looking above, it does hint at a good possibility of Giggs and Nani on the wings...

My guess:

Van der Sar, Rafael, J. Evans, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Carrick, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov

Bench: Kuszczak, Brown, O'Shea, Scholes, Gibson, Valencia, Hernandez

I think the fact we have van der Sar, Brown, Rafael(?), Evra(?), Scholes, Giggs, and Berbatov not playing internationals could point to them starting. I wouldn't mind seeing Brown start at Right Back if fit, but I'd like to see Rafael as well. It's definitely a good idea to drop O'Shea for this game as it's at home and we need to give Rafael a chance. O'Shea wasn't great against Jonas or well, anyone on the Fulham team. Vidic and Evans probably have to start still, that is the first choice pairing and shouldn't be messed with until we try to gel Ferdinand back into the starting line up. Although, to be honest, it makes more sense to do this after the internationals rather than before..

van der Sar
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Valencia Fletcher Scholes Giggs
Berbatov Rooney
--
Kuszczak; O'Shea, Smalling; Carrick, Nani; Hernandez, Owen

Why leave out Scholes when he's been our best player and is going to get a two week break anyway? I think Giggs has needed a start.. Just not sure if we should leave out Valencia or Nani. Carrick is probably worth a game, but I think Fletcher should still start due to the insurance he gives our defence. The rest picks itself, I guess.

Just hope we win, but I'd like a wide margin victory obviously.

I do think Scholes looked exhausted after the Fulham game.

United shouldn't need him to beat West Ham, in other games that might not be necessary.

I'm sure the internationals will play in Fergie's squad management:

  1. Carrick will probably start against West Ham, (maybe sentimental reasons), he does need a game, England will probably not need him.
  2. Valencia, Hernandez and Park have long journeys midweek that'll play a factor.
  3. Perhaps the same could be said about O'Shea and Gibson, who are in Yerevan midweek too, though you'd think Andorra at home may be a more relaxed affair
  4. Rafael doesn't have a game, but he is still on international duty.
  5. Vidic has two games, but Slovenia and the Faroes will be focused on holding their own here.
  6. Nani and the Evans's have only one game to play.
  7. Kuszczak may not even play at all.

It's West Ham, they could play Rafael alongside Scholes and it would still probably work.

And Chelsea
Apart from the period during the substitution, I don't think they were on the same pitch at the same time in that one. :nono:
