Manchester United vs West Ham United

Even if it means we have to go with Wooton, we have to protect our CBs if there's any doubt about their fitness. But this...

De Gea
Jones Smalling Evans Buttner
Fletcher Anderson
Valencia --- Rooney --- Nani
Hernandez

...looks very strong.

He's on loan. Nice line-up though. Might be better suited to West Ham, actually. Less finesse than a team featuring Cleverley and Carrick, but a bit more grit and muscle.

Tom Thorpe is available from the reserves, he's the captain and quite a good center back himself, though he often plays in midfield. I wouldn't mind seeing him play if we indeed need to protect our CBs.

Or perhaps Val to RB and Giggs on the left?

We've all seen the team suffer from discontinuity when we make a large number of changes and/or bring injured players back into the starting line-up.

Cheech and Val have been playing regularly and I'm not worried about them coming into the team. But if we're already looking at rotating 4 of our back 5, that is enough to cause some disruption. If we bring in Scholes as well as Nani and Anderson from injury, I would expect there to be some issues with team cohesion.

I'd guess Rooney starts, but Nani and Anderson come off the bench. Perhaps Cleverley will get the nod, being young and able to recover better than Carrick, to partner Scholes.

It seems a good game to start Giggs on the wing, and while Scholes and Giggs together may not be optimal, we'll have plenty of quality and speed all around them.

He's been pretty good in defense this year, him and Wootton are well ahead of the rest when you compare goals allowed per game at center back.

I believe Jones and Smalling will be cb pairing tomorrow, with Buttner on LB. It will be interesting to see who will play on right back position.

I believe Jones and Smalling will be cb pairing tomorrow,

I hope so, particularly in the case of Jones. He needs to play some game in the position for which he was purchased and the Cup is his best opportunity right now.

Is anything actually wrong with Nick Powell?

I'd have hoped he would play more so far this season and he's going to get even less opportunities now... Maybe he can sneak a sub appearance here.

We could potentially be putting out an XI that would've been one of our best in the two previous seasons (a line up without our two new signings) in the FA cup. Nice to be in a position to do that.

Getting quite excited about this.

My prediction is that Welbeck & Chico as well as Giggs will start, I can see Rooney & Nani coming on together for the last 25 mins. Hopefully they be ready for a full 90 mins against Spurs at the weekend

From what I've read sir Alex has mentioned Hernandez and Valencia as well as Rooney and Nani. Then claims few changes will be made.

I can't see Rio starting 2 games in 4 days. I reckon he'll probably go for...

De Gea

Valencia... Smalling... Jones... Buttner

Nani... Scholes...Anderson... Giggs

Rooney

Hernandez

Either that or he'll start one of Giggs/Scholes in the middle and Welbeck out wide.

According to the Telegraph:

Provisional squad: Lindegaard, De Gea, Amos, Smalling, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evans, Buttner, Evra, Cleverley, Giggs, Fletcher, Anderson, Scholes, Carrick, Kagawa, Nani, Hernandez, Rooney, Welbeck, Van Persie.

Basically the strongest squad we could put out minus Rafael AND Jones? Oh, Valencia and Young is missing too.

Those squads are never correct so Jones and Rafael will of course be there.

Saf

"we want to try and have a go at this fa cup," ferguson told mutv.

"we haven't had a run for a long time, two or three years, and we have had some bad draws.

"we're at home tonight and we have got to take advantage of that.

"if we get through, we have got another home tie so there's a big incentive for the club to make sure we get through."

Tom Thorpe. Jeeze, talk about the forgotten man.

He's deservedly one of our most praised u21 players this season after looking the bee's knees in midfield as well as defense. Having turned 20 just 3 days ago there's nothing forgotten about him.

These are the players available:

de Gea, Lindegaard, Amos
Rafael, Evra, Jones, Ferdinand, Smalling, Vidic, Buttner
Valencia, Anderson, Giggs, Carrick, Nani, Scholes, Cleverley, Fletcher, Kagawa
Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, van Persie

Young and Evans are the only definite absentees. I imagine rests will be handed to Evra, Ferdinand, Carrick and van Persie but other than that will be largely full strength.

Jones must be injured again. There's no reason not to have him on the subs' bench, at least.

Is it also the norm to have three keepers in the squad?

Jones just came on against Liverpool. It's just a dumb mistake by the speculators.

He was restin up for 3 weeks in December and has played 3 games in 15 days on his return. He's also 22 and fit as feck. No way does he need a break

Yeah, that's true. But considering that he had 3 billion injuries in past years I think that we should be a little more careful with him.

Judging by the lack of posts in here it seems I'm not the only one who isn't particularly arsed about this match.

I'm looking forward to this! Mostly to see Ando and Nani back in action.

Would anyone be kind enough to check the box to see what time the program starts, as you can't check in Ireland.
