Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

I mean.. I know we're at home vs Wigan but Giggs and Scholes on the pitch at the same time? Really? Is that necessary?

Yeah Im not a fan of that midfield today. Puzzling selections from Fergie.

Not really suprising though, it doesn't seem to matter how flat our performances are when we make multiple changes and/or play Giggs and Scholes together, Ferguson keeps doing it. He must see other reasons from these games that cause the flat performances.

It'll be embarrassing playing a 3 man midfield at home and Welbeck out side vs Wigan at OT.

Can't supporters like you just stay in your cave?

Can posters like you just wind your neck in and let people have their own opinion?

The last time we started Giggs in midfield and Hernandez isolated up front against Wigan, not only did we lose 1-0, we were completely out played by them.

CONFIRMED MUFC XI:

Lindegaard

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic
Buttner

Nani
Carrick
Scholes
Giggs

Welbeck
Hernandez

SUBS: de Gea, Evans, Powell, Cleverley, Kagawa, Valencia, van Persie.
I'm hesitant to question SAF in matters psychological, but his mini-freezing out of De Gea is puzzling, to say the least.

17-11 to United. 14 from Lindegaard, with the rest coming from three Buttner bicycle kicks, from the half-way line.

Lets see how the game goes first before writing of the team.

I doubt anyone is writing off the team, we still have enough to win the game however the selection from past experience seems to inticate a workman like scrappy win is what were in for. That lineup hardly inspires to the effect Ferguson wnated at the start of the season when he said we wouldn't lose the title on goal difference again

More embarrassing that people somehow think a 433 is defensive. Giggs was great out wide at the beginning of last year and you can guarantee he'll be galloping up that left wing even if he starts from a central position.

I scored a bicycle kick from the halfway line once, Keeper was out of his line a lot and the pitch wasn't that big.

I think this game would've been a good opportunity to let Cleverley have a go at the Kagawa role. My lineup would have been:

De Gea

Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra (but no problem with giving Buttner a look)

Carrick - Scholes

Cleverley

Valencia - Nani

Chicharito (I think he's overdue, so it's good to see him in the actual lineup.)

Plus it's Ryan Giggs. Giggs and the word 'embarrassing' should never be used in the same sentence (same goes for Scholes.)

Probably saving him for Galatasaray. I find Giggs and Scholes being on the pitch at the same time more worrying.

No van Persie is just perfect... with him being captain and all in my fantasy team....

I hope Giggs shows a bit more energy than he did at the olympics, he did some good stuff but at times he looked to me that he had lost a lot of energy and effetively became another striker rather than the 3rd midfield he was meant to be. Depending on how much Wigan look to press us we'll probably need him to drop back. I don't think bringing in scholes/Hernandez/Buttner is an issue, I expected those, but Giggs as well just seems that one player too much, would have saved him for the CL personally. If we can get an early goal than I think it should be fine, but if we let them build confidence through a slow start it could be tough.

My theory is that he thought the mix up with Vidic was because he lost concentration. SAF has mentioned before with one or two of his mistakes that he lost focus.

Could be Sir Alex showing him that he needs to be switched on 100% of the time because there is quality competition for his place.

Not lindegaard again?

His distribution and kicking was absolutely woeful against the Saints.

His distribution is really bad.

Its a given that his distribution isnt as good as De Gea's but I'm not even talking about that. I mean once or twice he might have done better on some goals too, not as many as De Gea but still

Giggs and Scholes again starting. Well at least its at home but I'm a bit concerned.

Will be interesting to see our tempo but I reckon the opposition being Wigan at home should help. But both starting together does worry me at times.

Which ones?

Lindegaard hasnt been perfect either

Tbf if Fergie was sticking with dropping players after mistakes than most the back 4 should have been dropped as they've all had issues. I thought Lindegaard would start this one, Fergie said De Gea would be back after a few weeks. Hope he doesn't just bring him back in for the Liverpool game, dunno what this will have done to his confidence. Whoever starts in midweek should play at liverpool imo.

I reckon you're right, but I think a one-game sit-down would have been punishment enough. Again though, Fergie has proven to be a master of this kind of thing, so hopefully DDG will come through this with a renewed drive and focus.

Getting caught shagging you brothers wife isn't at all...ahem...embarrassing is it?

Why the feck is Lindegaard ahead of De Gea? I was not happy the way Fergie rotated those two last year and if it keeps up again this year I will be gutted, does not work out well at all.

All things aside I want revenge on these motherfeckers but that lineup does not look like we may get that, could be an edgy afternoon.

Aside from the handful of games in the second half of last season that were most certainly embarrassing.
