Carling Cup
Wednesday (30.11)
Old Trafford

I´m sorry very Ruud that there are no lineups yet. :)

Saha should start up front with Rossi. Bardsley and Pique in defence. Richardson in midfield.

Not worth risking injuries for. Are West Brom likely to come with a full strength side?

---------Howard------------
Bards. Gary Pique Richardson
-------Smith Fletcher-------
Ronaldo-----------------Park
--------Saha Rossi---------

Not official line up!!!

Thankyou.

They are actually sending it over here which is unusual since it the CC. I'm looking forward to watching some of the youngsters give W.B.A a beating

Gary should get the 90 minutes. I'd expect Saha(who could well start against Everton with Ruud being suspended) and Rossi to play up front. Richardson in midfield and Howard in goal. The likes of Eckersley and Martin may also get starts. Bardsley and Pique will also probably play.

I suggest whoever starts a match thread should also include whether it's showing in this country. Make sense!? In this case, no TV coverage, I gather?!

Doesnt carling cup make up for the suspension? What if it was a Fa cup game against West Brom? Then wud ruud be suspended for that one?

Are you so lazy to find it out alone at your own ?

Just heard on Sky on Sunday after he was booked that Ruud will miss the Everton game on December 11. I think it could be do with the fact you must wait 7 days for a suspension picked up for bookings, i think it would be enforced straight away for a sending off.

5 yellows means a 1 match ban the ban takes effect 7 days after the last match, so if we were playing portsmouth on sunday ruud would be banned

rossi, blake or saha can play, or giggs may be back

Dont be so daft!!! You miss the point! Alot in here come to the match day thread for convenience. Are you so lazy not to find it out and put it up as well to make it more complete and useful too? I hope you see some senses in it. But if you dont, forget about replying. It's not about laziness on our part.

--------------Howard-----------
Bardsley---Wes-----Gaz------Pique

-----------Jones----Smith---------

Park--------------------------Richardson

-----------Saha------Rossi-------------

Rossi (2), Richardson (1), Saha (1), Ellington (1), Inamoto (1)
4 - 2 :D

Hopefully, Bardsley, Neville, Pique, Eckersley, Brown are playing but i don't know how i want to pick 4 and fit these players in defence. CBs - Brown and Pique, LB - Eckersley, RB - Nev? but then how about Bardsley, we can't have him out of the side, can we? And it's better to play Neville in his RB position rather than CB since i don't think he will feature as a CB in near future. If Bardsley play as a CB together with Brown then Pique will miss out.

And hopefully Martin, R Jones, Park, Ronaldo are playing, like all 4 but i don't know how to fit these players in midfield. 3 attacking midfielders/wingers! I seriously wish Martin will play LW. Do Smith and/or Fletcher need a rest? I would like Scholes in the side as well with his passings then again, i wish he's rested.

Lastly, Rossi and Saha as our two forwards. I suppose Rossi will stay upfront while saha plays deeper?

Then we have Richardson definitely playing though i'd like him on the bench and i can't fit him in midfield or defence among those players i wish to see on the pitch tonight :D.
Right, did i miss out on any players?

Edit: Oh right, keeper. Howard. Steele on the bench?

United's former youth team coach runs the rule over the club's current crop of young players...

Carling Cup Chance
I’m glad the manager is going to give the young players another chance to show what they can do in Wednesday night’s Carling Cup clash against West Brom. He’s always been true to his word in terms of giving youngsters an opportunity in the senior team and maintained that if a player is good enough, he’ll give them a chance.

The current crop of young players have really impressed me and there’s no question that this is the best group we’ve had at the club since Beckham and Co. broke into the first team. They’ve still got an awful lot to do if they’re to reach the heights of those players from the Class of ’92, but in Giuseppe Rossi I believe the club have a player who can match what those lads achieved.

Rossi’s The One
I’ve not had the opportunity of working with Giuseppe, but I’ve watched him very closely since he came to the club both in training and during matches and, for me, he’s the most outstanding young player I’ve seen at United since Beckham, Scholes, Giggs, Butt and the Nevilles broke into the side.

I can see a lot of Paul Scholes in him, not just in his play on the pitch but off it as well. He’s a similar type of lad by the fact that he’s quiet and unassuming, yet totally focused on becoming a Manchester United player. I always have a chat with him whenever I see him and aside from technical ability, he seems fully prepared to sacrifice things off the pitch in order to become a top player at this club. That’s just as important as technical ability and if he doesn’t make it, I’ll pack things in altogether!

"I believe Rossi has the ability to match what the lads from the Class of '92 achieved."

A Youthful Future
I think the others young prospects will certainly do very well and one or two of them could become firm fixtures in the first team, but the jury is still out in terms of whether or not they can go as far as the Class of ’92 have. I’m not being biased because I worked with those players – it’s a tall order for anybody to follow. Nevertheless, I’ve worked with Phil Bardsley, Adam Eckersley, Jonny Evans and Kieran Richardson in the past and I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from them as well as the likes of Lee Martin, Rossi and Gerard Pique.

We’re entitled to expect a lot from the young players at this club. I’ve always put massive demands on the youngsters I’ve worked with because I know from experience that if they can’t hack it at Youth Cup level for instance, they won’t be able to perform in the first team.

Sir Alex might not thank me for saying this but I find it unbelievably sad that the Class of ’92 are no longer at Old Trafford and I still daydream about them all being together

Simply The Best
Aside from the match, Wednesday night will no doubt be an emotional occasion for everyone connected to the club following the sad news about George Best. I met him a few times and I have great memories of watching him play at Old Trafford when I was younger. The things he could do on the pitch were unbelievable and the hairs on back of your neck would stand on end every time you saw him play – he really was poetry in motion on a football field.

He also had amazing courage. He endured some rough treatment from opposition defenders but he never ever complained, he just got up and got on with it. It’s a very sad loss but I hope he looks down on Old Trafford on Wednesday night and sees another George Best in the making in Manchester United’s first team.
