Marouane Fellaini | 2013/14 Performances

It seemed to me Herrera was the one who would've given us something different in midfield (speed, composure, bite). Fellaini is a lump.

I doubt Fellaini will make any difference to Moyes thinking. Welbeck and Valencia are just Moyes kind of players, hard grafters and despite having Fellaini in CM at Everton they still favoured that on the wings at Everton

Fellaini at 24 was a better player than Cleverley at 24 and he is a better player now. Well the fact that he is playing at a better football club with better players will allow him to play in a different role and different tactics. He will craft the poorer parts of his game that he wasn't able to develop with us due to how we used him.

I'am not saying i could do it any better, yet i'am not the one they gave the job to. I'am not the one that is to succeed Fergie or Gill, who both did a fantastic job at the club, and i'am not the one who gets paid £5million a year in salary to do his job. Does that mean i can't see what a mess they made of things.... you only have to compare with other clubs and use your common sense to see they completely fecked up !

If you can't see something has gone terribly wrong at the club or that something is stinking over there, you will never. Just keep your eyes closed and imagine it never happend, just keep saying to yourself, everything is alright, Moyes is a good manager and Woodward is an excellent negotiatior, they both did brilliant business for the club, keep repeating it to yourself and maybay you will start to believe it aswell.

This post basically sums up everything I'm thinking. Basically every deal that happened this summer has been a mess and been handled embarrassingly. There is simply no way anybody can defend Woodward, and he needs to be sacked right away before he can make our club look like any more of a joke. I imagine that Moyes will be absolutely fuming after today.

Hardly had the quality at his disposal though so it's still possible - if he continues to neglect the flair players then I think we'll struggle as a team.

I totally disagree. You can say Fellaini's a better player, but that doesn't mean he'll play as well in our system as Cleverley. Messi for example. Say we signed him, but he didn't really play well in our system. It wouldn't make him a poor footballer, he's just not suited to our style. Or Herrera as another example. Say we sign him and he becomes the best midfielder in the league. It's not that he's made this sudden jump in ability, but he's playing in a system which highlights his strengths and hides his weaknesses. With Cleverley and Fellaini I think you see that effect. Or something. I'm tired.
 
We will know be a massive threat for every corner. Robin pinpointing Fellaini's head should be nice.
 
I'm amazed we've mangaged to sign someone this summer. Honestly.

Fellaini, if you ignore the price tag, will be a solid signing.

I agree with this.

The one thing that makes me think this is a a crap signing is that we won't play the above players.
 
I'd gladly give Cleverley a season: play him with Carrick, behind Kagawa, Rooney and Nani.

But you just know it'll be Fellaini stinking the place up with Young and Giggs responsible for the creative duties. I bet Woody was in charge of team selection on Sunday and will continue to be. Or something.
 
Very disappointed with this signing. It shows a complete lack of ambition from Moyes. He brought the coaching staff from Everton, when a world class setup was already in place at United. Now he is bringing one of his old players, for an inflated fee, at the last moment, after failing spectacularly to secure other players. This is going to be a very difficult year.
 
I'll reserve judgment of the signing 'til the end of the season at least.

But I will say this, I can't remember a Manchester United signing being met with near universal underwhelming.
 
Am I alone in being quite pleased we've actually signed a cm at last? I think he's a player that gives us a better chance of retaining our title. He is head and shoulders above Cleverley and Anderson and could provide that bit of physicality (mixed with technical competence) that our midfield has been missing.

Kagawa/Nani will be a combination of Young/Valencia/Welbeck.

Can't help but agree. Things were always going to be more difficult with the changes at the top, but it has just been a ridiculously bad summer for United and it won't do Moyes any good.

United resembled a drunk on the pull at the end of the night. Too much graft for the little attractive one with no reward so I'll just have one more pop at the 6 foot 4in hairy one instead.
 
The only good thing is that for Felliani, the expectations are pretty low, if he completes two passes in a row, we will think he's the next superstar out of OT.
 
Still no announcement...the feck are we waiting for? Is the guy now taking us to the cleaners over personal terms? Seeing as we're in a bit soft position...

It's two in the morning, they won't announce anything 'til about eight at the earliest I'd say.
 
Opinions are obviously skewed on Fellaini after the day / summer that was in it for us. I'm not sure where he is going to fit in and I don't really think he is the answer we have been looking for. Had we brought him in alongside another midfielder, then all well and good, sadly we didn't.

I think this signing will continue to be met with negativity by circumstance more than anything. Lets hope he turns out to be a good signing in what has been a really poor summer for our club.

Sensible, shame some people appear to have made up their minds.

I think the reaction isn't all relative to the player himself but the other factors surrounding such a poor summer.
