He looked at lot better when played further forward but that's pointless if we didn't buy him to play there. He played the same way today as he did midweek and last weekend but a 10 man Palace and 2nd rate German team are completely different. Keane would've bollocked him for easing his way in.

Clearly. Let's judge him game by game. One game we should say he was decent, the next we'll call him shit.

Sound good?

Boo-hoo. IMO we should aim a little higher than players like Fellaini. He's not good enough for United. Nor is Young, and Valencia is mostly shit these days too. With that much mediocrity no wonder we're hammered by quality teams.

Not going to help against pressing sides and not much better than Cleverley in a CM role. His best role from when I've seen him at Everton is when he's pushed further up the field where he can bully defenders with his size. Unfortunately that tactic is great for Everton but not how we play football. He would have been fine as a £15 million squad signing but after splurging almost £30 million on him we've little choice but to stick with him now. He'd look better with genuine quality in front of him however and our current system is just completely ineffective.

Ah, maybe you missed the point. I'm calling you a spaz.

One good thing he did today was some balls chested down in City's half.

Not sure what to expect of him after today's performance. Can a midfield of him and Carrick work? Doesn't seem capable of pressing opponents or sit in midfield to shield the defence. He might be big and strong but the defensive side of his game was absolutely woeful. Toure ran rings round him today and you can see he sort of gave up chasing the ball after City played another one of their triangles around him.

Awful today. Did basically nothing until he was pushed higher up he pitch, and I sure as he'll don't want to see us playing marouane fecking fellaini as uniteds #10 when Rooney is striker.

He wasn't good, I'll give you that.

But I see none of you in the Carrick thread either, who wasn't any better in CM. Them and the Defense were a complete let down today.

Carrick was better... He wasn't good, but he was better than Fellaini

Carrick was light years ahead of Fellaini today in absolutely every area of play. He also didn't fail to mark two players who scored unmarked tap ins.

Carrick was shite too, but Fellaini was worse. I had Fellaini as the worst player in the team. Some will have Young, others Valencia. But virtually everything Fellaini did was shit. His passing was one dimensional and unadventurous. Carrick played one really good pass of note near the end, but Fellaini, who we signed to add strength to the midfield remember, had rings run around him. I don't know why we've signed him in truth. Is it so when the likes of Leverkusen come round he can impose himself and win these games? Or is it so when we play physical midfields and top sides he can make a difference.

It's not knee jerk if people said he wasn't good enough before we fecking signed him, is it?

And we're basing this off one poor game where everyone else has been poor? It seems like quite a few posters have already made their mind up on Fellaini before he's kicked a ball for us so were just waiting to pounce when he fails to impress.

If he didn't know what level we expect him to be at, he does now. He can't afford to let big games like this pass him by. We bought him for his presence in midfield, and the ability to impose himself. Not get run ragged.

Must do a lot better.

He was like a parody of a lumbering midfielder today.

What he did for Aguero's second goal was horrendous, and when I saw Cleverley coming on after it I thought Moyes was going to haul him off to teach him a lesson. It was just plain laziness, he didn't even fecking pretend he was making an attempt to follow his run, it's the sort of thing I'd expect from Anderson, not a £27.5m player who describes himself as the new Roy Keane. I'm not even going to comment on his general performance alongside Carrick, I think the fact Cleverley offered more of that precious "steel" people bang on about on here in the short amount of time he was on sums it all up.

Let's try not to be too harsh on him, today will have been a complete baptism of fire. He'll know what's up now and that he's not just going to turn up and win trophies with us. Very poor, but no worse than other players around him who've been with us much longer.

Carrick was about a 5 billion parsecs better than him today and also has proven himslef year after year. Fellaini gave him the exact type of performance that posters who didn't want us to sign him were predicting during the entire summer.

It's funny how we bought this guy for to add some much needed menace to our midfield, to stop teams from controlling the center of the park, only for him to forget his only fecking job until right near the end today.

You're 6 foot fecking 4 for christ sake. At least try pretend you're fecking scary.

Couldn't watch the match today, I take it he didn't have a good game?

While he played well against Bayer and Palace, his mobility did worry me. He just looks very slow and against better midfields they'll kill you for that with their pressing. I always thought the City match would be crucial.

No. Nev pointed out that we didn't rate him before he joined. This is the sort of performance we half expect from him, because we didn't think he was very good. I can only assume and hope that Moyes has seen something better in him to make him worth paying that amount of money.

It just riles me that everyone went on about that steel in the side that he'll bring, and that game passed him by. He was so bad we stuck him up front for Christ's sake.

a £27.5m player who describes himself as the new Roy Keane..

Don't tell me that's true.

He annoyed me in the first half, he kept jogging around almost half arsed, not getting stuck in at all.

He needs to wake up and realise he's at United now. At fault for the first 2 goals. Aguero's second was absolutely criminal from him. Looked better further forward but Moyes brought him in for these big games, but he looked out of his depth.

Was worried about his slight laziness against Leverkusen when tracking back, now am concerned. Seems a very lazy player and we can't afford two laid back players in midfield, we're gonna get torn apart by high energy three man midfields.
