I'm delighted we got the big lad. My new favourite player at the club just because most of you cnuts hate him. Fellainimania all the way.

Just think of the fun in posting "feck you!" to each and every hater here when he scores a goal.

What do people think about the way we try and keep fees low? It's odd for a club as successful as ours, then again, have we struggled in Europe because of it when you compare or spending to other powerhouses? After all Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and City have all paid more for a player than us, even though we have still dominated.

Think there's been a lengthy debate aboiut this already in the 'Woodward'thread amongst others

Yes we have, 99 and 2009 was won with a once in a bluemoon class of 92, and 2008 we have ronaldo which at that point worth heaps if he is available, we just happens tobbought him at the right time

Not to forget, we have scholes and giggs as well, times have changed, and i dnt wnat not spending just for the sake of principal. We do not want to succumb to overspend, but we will spend if worthy pkayers are available are more to my liking

Berbatov - flop, Ferdinand - success, Veron - flop, Rooney - success, Fellaini - lump?

:nervous:

There will be a lot of people who will say that Berbatov and veron weren't flops...Veron didn't have a team built aroundhim which would have suited his style.

I don't think Veron was as much of a flop as made out actually.

Of course he was... Eventually Fergie gave up on him and sold him to Chelsea, where he continued being a massive flop. That said, I liked him...

His goals helped us win at least one league title - to the point where if he wasn't there to score them ,we might not have won our number 19th. To call that a flop is crass.

Hmmm depends how you define flop? Veron's biggest issue was coming here at the wrong time. He didn't play all that badly from what I remember it's just we couldn't fit him in properly and tried to shoehorn the team about to make it work. Much like we would have had to have done if we had gone for Ozil

I'd definitely put Berbatov down as a flop when you think of what was expected of him when we signed him for that amount. Yeah, he finished top scorer for us, but pretty much all of those goals came at home to terrible opposition and he never turned up in the big games or away from home. Also, he never made an impact in Europe.

I don't think there would ever have been a right time, he just couldn't deal with the pace of the game in this country.

Not quite living up to sky high expectations does not mean he was a flop. Does anyone actually regret signing Berbatov?

It's not as if we'd have played with ten men without him, someone else would've filled. Must admit that I misjudged him as well, then again it's easy strutting yourself at a small club like Spurs.

What "we" expected from him doesn't matter. It is what the club expected from him that defines that. I wouldn't call him a flop. He wasn't a success, but definitely not a complete failure.
