Fellaini likes making simple passes in deep positions but he is very confident in moving off the ball and getting into good attacking positions, once he gets it to feet there.. he's very good at keeping possession due to his strength and composure, just making him sit deep is not his game, he likes to drift after making a pass. That is why he gets goals.

He gets goals because he was played as a second striker quite often and because he's an aerial threat. I doubt he'll get any more than 5-6 goals if he regularly plays CM.

On an unrelated note, his hair was a lot less annoying and stupid when he first came to England. I hope he'll get back to that.

EDIT: OK, it seems that it's impossible to insert images, feck knows why.

Said in the press conference that he'd prefer the DM role. It's the sort of thing I was hoping to hear, personally, although whether it has any bearing on how Moyes plans to use him is debatable - he's certainly had no qualms about ignoring Fellaini's position preferences in the past.

Also just realised that by signing him we've guaranteed ourselves the 'chest control and bring the ball down' cup. Fellaini and RVP are comfortably the best in the league at that.

I know it's completely irrelevant, but I just think 31 is such a weird number to give him.

That's Axel Witsel-esque.

I now am completely convinced he's excactly what we need as a midfielder.

Hehe Ramshock.

We scored an obscene amount from set-pieces, though I agree we aren't without creativity.

My gripe is that playing Fellaini will actually remove some creativity from the side, at the cost of a physically dominant player. Although as you've pointed out, Cleverley's a bit bland either way. Meh. If only Cesc was available...

Who's creativity will Fellaini be impeding? Anderson's, Cleverley's or Giggs'? I think his a very good passer, and will free Carrick more and give more liberty to wingers and whoever is playing behind the striker. We'll massively improve our team, I think. But Cesc would be the muppet dream.

What number was he at Everton? We should have let him keep it and given whoever has it for us the vacant #7.

I think he wanted to do what RvP did and take #21 as a signification of helping us to the 21st title but Woody miscalculated.

Does he speak Dutch or French? That's the two main languages in Belgium, right?

His first language is French but he can probably understand some Dutch.

It's actually an issue for the Belgian National team as some of the players can't even converse with each other as they don't speak the same language.

He sure as feck wasn't getting no. 7 or no. 9, he's not a universally popular signing.

If you're afraid of giving him a meaningful shirt like that you don't pay £27 million for him.

Its more than likely someone else is after the 7 in the future and was already decided before he came, or he didnt want to wear it right away and have the added pressure or wanted to earn it after a season or two.

The no. 7 shirt carries some weight of expectancy at Manchester United, like it or not.

Fellaini wasn't, and still isn't, a universally popular signing. It was very unlikely he'd be given no. 7, irregardless of the fee.

Michael Owen

Not being "universally popular" has nothing to do with it. Most United fans at least on here are happy to have him and the majority by far would prefer him wearing 7 than Owen.

We know the significance of the no. 7 shirt. We've had a player give it up because he didn't enjoy the weight behind it. I'm not one for nitpicking over squad numbers, but no. 7 would not have been a popularly assigned number for Fellaini. That's all.

He's the new robbo, I'm disgusted he didn't get it. I'm embarrassed by the way the club is insulting him.

He's not a number 7, that's why he didn't get the 7 shirt. He's also not a no9 so that's why he didn't get the 9 shirt.

I expect he'll get 16 next season when Carrick is deemed surplus to requirements.

Looking forward to seeing him play. He will turn out to be a fine player for United....just needs to curb his ill-discipline as that shit won't be tolerated by the club. Only Keane, Cantona and Rooney i.e. great players, can consistently get away with it.
