I am scared that he will start playing further up the pitch, with all those long balls we play it would make sense...

Gives a LOT of fouls away. Simple as that. And doesn't seem as defensively strong in the air as I'd remembered.

He hardly exerts himself when on the football pitch making him very difficult to be likeable. His lethargy is infectious.

Wasn't great but wasn't shit either. Still too slow for my liking and doesn't have that commitment and desire you expect to see from a big man like him.

I think it was B9 who said that selling Dalglish selling Konchesky showed more ambition than buying any of the players he signed.

Fellaini's going down that path.

Refs hate him though. He gives away fouls that aren't and everyone's allowed to foul him. I don't know if it's the height or the hair. I recommend he tries a haircut first.

He's alright Fellaini, give him a break. Cleverley was beyond useless today.

At United I don't think I could name a single thing he's done thats actually been good enough.

I was just about to post this. Happened a lot on the long balls in open-play as well. I thought he was supposed to be good in the air at least, but so far he hasn't even shown that.

He seriously needs to up his game. It's not even about getting used to the team - he can't even do the simple stuff (like challenging for headers).

He won loads of headers today and could have scored two goals from headers.

There were a few in the box he didn't challenge for but I think he was worried about giving away a penalty, he was getting pulled up for challenges which clearly weren't fouls at the beginning of the game.

He was much better than Cleverley today, still needs to do better but he was far from the worst player out there. Easy target.

He was fine today. Showed some good touches too.

Agree with shaving his head, would be a great statement to make. He's too visible.

Also, he literally got hit in the face by Medel, and didn't even get a foul!?

How the feck Fellaini is the scapegoat for today is beyond me!

Slow, sloppy and almost every one of his passes are pointless, he plays the ball backwards all the time. Horrible player to watch and sums up our style of play these days.

Definitely not the worst performer out there, but he's not top tier.

Still hoping he proves us all wrong but it's not looking good.

More concerned about Cleverley's performance. I'm well aware he's no Paul Scholes, but he's significantly better than what he showed today.

Don't agree with the Cleverley comment, he does a lot of key work. He was certainly better than Fellaini, who is immobile, fouls a lot, and can't run with it.

He did seem to be getting a bit of special attention from the ref without doing anything, but he also did seem to pull out of a few headers.

In general though after what was seemingly a decent start he really seemed to do very little and felt so slow on the ball. At least if Carrick can be accused of being slow he can fire the ball right in to someones feet through the middle and get us in a good position. I honestly wasn't expecting much from Fellaini but expected better than this.

Yep Medel should have got a red no doubt! Fellaini was ok today but for £27m he has been way short this season.

Cleverley was one of the worst players on the pitch today. Fellaini wasn't great, or even very good. But Cleverley was terrible. Surely Anderson has to get a chance soon

Yup he did, same thing happened in Spain the other week. I agree with Jojojo that his size works against him because its happening every other game with different referees.

Aye he was pretty slow, there wasn't much movement from the rest of the team which didn't make it easier on him. I also expected a lot more from him, not close to showing anything like his best form so far and the longer this goes on the bigger a problem it will become.

I'm a big fan of Cleverley as many will know, but he was really poor today. Not involved much and made silly fouls in our half. Fellaini was also poor. Probably marginally better though.

That said, is being marginally better than someone who played poorly the standard? No. The standard which we expect he hasn't hit in one game yet.

Lucky us. There isn't really much Moyes can do. We don't have anyone.

I just don't see what he offers to us. Slow and laboured in midfield, terrible at bringing the ball forward, always passes either sideways or back to the defence and for some reason isn't that great at defending set pieces.

He had a soft-ish header straight at the keeper and one that went straight back in the direction it came from. Sure, he could've scored on either I suppose, but he wasn't even close to so I'm not sure what your point is. Yeah, he did win quite a few headers but that's to be expected (particularly when he was unchallenged for half of them), and that doesn't really excuse him for standing off in many other situations. Fearing the ref might go against him doesn't really excuse him either - going by that logic no defender should challenge for a header then and I don't remember a wrong foul being given against him more than once today.

I don't care if he was better than Cleverley - in my book they were equally shit, and they really don't suit each other. This is, however, the Fellaini thread.

Yeah the other players didn't cover themseleves in glory either but then if fellaini was offering more with clev then maybe they'd look better. But I think the biggest problem is something thats been an issue with the team for ages which is a general complete lack of urgency and killing a game off.

What a waste of money. It would have been better spent and more beneficial to pay down the debt.

He doesn't look good enough to play for us. He's not first to the loose ball, he's not a great tackler, he's slow as feck, his passing is ordinary, his touch is okay, he doesn't think quickly enough and doesn't seem to have the composure required from a midfielder at a big club. Have to say, I thought he'd be a pretty goof addition but so far he's completely proving ,r wrong and is looking a distinctly average footballer. Hope it changes quickly.

Wouldn't mind Anderson getting a shot ahead of Fellaini right now.

Some ridiculous comments. He was a long way from being our worst player today, certainly did more and showed more bottle than Cleverley did.
