Origi..... Dogshit
LOL. Yeah, Martial would've made more with those 2 opportunities. Origi whiffed.
Origi..... Dogshit
I'm not trying to say Origi is even close to the talent that Martial clearly is, but judging a player based on one game...really? No one genuinely thinks Lukaku is rubbish because of that one game do they?
Found it funny when my Pool mates were filing up my TL and whatsapp group when Lukaku was doing shit...... Not a message or tweet since Origi came on![]()
Well a United fan started the thread for comparing them on here so I guess some felt it was close.Nopes, I actually think Origi is a quality talent. I am quite impressed by the turnaround by him since Klopp came. I think he will do great for you next season.
But comparing him to Martial is something just RAWK could come up with, just like they came up with Pennant vs Ronaldo.

I don't for what it's worth. Martial is miles ahead of Origi. Comparing Origi to Rashford is probably fairer.
Then why did a United fan create this thread? I bet you probably can't find any comment from Liverpool fans in this thread which says Origi is better or even close to Martial. He's clearly very talented as well though, not sure how anyone would deny that even after missing two chances he should've scored today.Nopes, I actually think Origi is a quality talent. See for me even now, calling Martial world class is a tad knee-jerk only because he's still fairly young and we don't know how Mourinho will use him.A manager can damage a players development if the circumstances aren't right. He'll probably be a very good player going forward but it's hard to be certain that Martial will be world class right now.We get these knee-jerk comparison threads all the time when a player is doing okay, I remember in the newbs we had a City fan comparing IwantaNacho to Martial when he had his rich vein of form.
There are a big difference between a good\great talent enjoying a purple patch, and a clearly WC talent delivering through a whole season for a underperforming team like Martial just did.

You'd think that Mourinho's football will be at least slightly more free flowing than Van Gaal's, so he'll probably be fine.

Some are judging him harshly in the Belgium vs Italy thread but it's a bit hard to judge him at this stage. I could point to his good run of form from March onward, but others could then point to his poor form prior to that.Who's judging on one game?
Fwiw, the comparison is similar to someone comparing Memphis to Coutinho... just ludicrous at this stage.

Well he's probably not £65 million but he's Premier League record speaks for itself. Tonight wasn't a good one for Belgian strikers in general. The caf doesn't rate Lukaku too highly either.
Yeah @kouroux has mentioned how poor Origi was in Ligue 1. I like to think he's developed a bit since then. His good run of form for us came following a bit of bulking up and he was first choice prior to injury in April.I'm not saying he's terrible because he's a good player but that's as far as I'd go. Every time I watch/watched him, he reminded me of Welbeck. Lots of energy, graft, nice movements but fluffs too many chances to lead the line or be a top striker.
I remember the games against Everton when Lille played them in the EL. He's one of (if not) the worst players on the pitch over the 2 legs. Wasn't he booed by his own fans after going through 4 (or more) months without a goal and being named in the worst 11 of the French League that season? Although I think it's a bit unfair as he's only 19/20 then.
For all we know, he may become a very good striker one day but for that to happen, he'd need to improve his composure massively in front of the goal.
To be fair, I think Origi is far more of a scorer than Welbeck.Yeah @kouroux has mentioned how poor Origi was in Ligue 1. I like to think he's developed a bit since then. His good run of form for us came following a bit of bulking up and he was first choice prior to injury in April.
I agree on his composure, it's all over the place at the minute. Welbeck is probably a good comparison for Origi. As you say there's similarities in their game.
He wasn't even bad. He brought some urgency into Belgium's custard side, and he looks a lot more refined with quick feet to match what I initially assumed was just all pace.I'm not trying to say Origi is even close to the talent that Martial clearly is, but judging a player based on one game...really? They are both young and talented but one has way more talent. Don't be to cryptic in your messages by stating we got the expensive deal. Origi is older and cost less yet can't even rise to the big stage when given the opportunity. Those 2 chances he missed were big time and just show you why he cost so less. If things go well for origi he might just egde out danny welbeck and that's a big IF!I missed the game, read this and then watched the highlights. The way you were all talking I thought Origi missed two open goals. There was one header he tried to glance and should have done better. Big deal!
Origi's finishing has not convinced yet. Several of his goals last season were scuffed efforts or deflections. However, we have seen many cases where this is the last thing to fall into place for strikers. The rest of his game looks terrific.
It's far too early to say who is better. They're both young and talented with huge potential. One of them though, only cost 10 million..

Why wait 5 years when martial will be worldclass in 2? We need to compare origi to similar players like James wilson. This thread should be Origi vs James wilson. Right now james is a little better but it's very close. We will see who does better between the 2 in 5 years. I expect Wilson to be a little better but who knows what the future holds. If you found that cryptic I wouldn't fancy your chances with The Times crossword.
As for your assessment, I guess we will see in five years or so.
Its really not too early. Martial was always a bigger talent and is clearly on another level to Origi. Not to say Origi is shit, he looks a very good player with good potential. Martial is on a whole other planet to him though. Also there is a reason one was dubbed the next Thierry Henry from a long time ago, and required the huge price tag, while the other one was in the worst 11 in the french league and geberally wasnt sought after leaving liverpool to get him for cheap.I missed the game, read this and then watched the highlights.
