Mauro Icardi | Performances

I would love him at United. Love it. Jose could be the boss to bring the best out of him.

But (and it is a big but) would he settle in Manchester? I'm not going for the obvious 'An Argentinian in Manchester' sketch, however we have to consider his 'baggage'. The wife and kids. For those not in the know, google Maxi Lopez and Mauro Icardi.

Otherwise, what a brilliant bad boy frontman he could be for us...

I don't know if the AFA is behind this. There have been rumors about the leaders on the Argentina NT not wanting him on the team.
Someone said in another thread that Messi doesn't like him because he's good friends with Maxi Lopez. It wouldn't be illogical to suggest some of the other 'leaders' in the team (as you say) are probably in a similar position.

Scored 2 goals tonight v Fiorentina - his first was a beauty.

14 goals/4 assists in 18 games this season. If there's a chance of getting him in January, we should move for him. He's the most obtainable striker currently available in the class we're looking for - Inter are actually doing worse than us, and he's not exactly on best terms with the fans.

Still my dream signing. Gives off a Cantona-esque vibe if you ask me. Not sure how he'd fit in with Martial and Rashford though

Even Maradona, he of the illegitimate children and substance abuse problems, called him out. If you ask me, they just want to make someone the scapegoat and it has to be Mauro at this point in time.

We're giving Zlatan another year for some reason, I don't think a striker will be on the agenda. Someone else will definitely snap him up.

14 goal in 18 for a terrible team isn't too bad.

But no doubt some people are going to start crying what about Rashford if we linked with him.

If the rumours about Simeone to coach Inter are true Icardi will only leave in January if Simeone wants him gone I think.

As someone mentioned in the first page, he'd actually be perfect for Arsenal. They create a feckload of chances, just need a clinical hand to finish them off. He'll easily score 25 a year there. He has the bite required to play in the PL too.

Simeone's contract expires in June 2018, and he's indicated that he wants to see this out at least (he shortened it from 2020). Dont think Icardi's going to be hanging around, he should be playing for a top team, and he'll get snapped up if we hesitate. All we can hope for is Jose's connection to Inter can open some doors for us.

I'd hope they didn't sign him! I think he was linked a fair bit during the summer (though I think it was his agent/wife posturing for a better deal). In the end they went for Lucas Perez.

Not sure why Simeone will trade in a stable and well run club in Atletico for Inter's turmoil. Sure, he doesn't speak English, but you'd think he'll just wait for another manager to clean up the mess over there before he actually decides to sign.

I don't think Giroud is a total donkey, but Icardi will give them something they've lacked since Henry himself. A fighter up front. If not at United, I hope he ends up in Spain or Germany or even France.

This guy used to be at Barca right? Do they have any buyback clause?

He was a former youth product. He signed for Sampdoria, before coming to Inter. I'd say he's the closest they have to a Pogba situation.

The problem with that is Messi doesn't like him.

If Messi doesn't like him then Mascherano won't like you. Then add Neymar and Suarez to that.

I just don't see him back at Barca with Messi around.

I didn't mean to say that he's coming back to Barca, just drawing parallels to what happened with our own Le Pog. Also, with Dybala proclaiming his love for Barca at every turn (while still wearing Juve colors ) I think they will only have money for one of the two, with Dybi having an edge because he doesn't have the baggage of the Maxi drama on him.

He's the one I want to see at United. Great positioning in and around the box, always on the move, strong, and a proper finisher. I think he would do very well in the PL.

Was talking about him in the Zlatan thread. He's the go to guy if we don't sign Griezmann. He's so clinical, fantastic movement and a very smart finisher. He's also got that arsehole streak in him which we lack in our squad. He's similar to Ruud and I think he'd notch up similar figures playing with the likes of Pogba, Mata and Micky.

He's obviously so suited to the PL, the way Diego Costa is. Will blow my money on him rather than Antoine

How about both?

----------Icardi
----Martial Griez Mata
-----Pogba New CDM
----------Back 5

Sign them all up, Woody, sign them up

I'd like him here, Suarez had baggage... big ass baggage, you think Barca fans care now?

Sign him up!

Mugged off the defence for Inter's third today, really would like him at the club if he becomes available.

Is his link up play any good or is he just a finisher?

Inter turned down £55 millions for him last summer, and the price is only going up. They're giving him a new contract, he loves milan, his hot wife loves milan, and inter are now owned by a very rich chinese group who wants to use them to advertise themselves in the rest of the world, kind of like what etihad did with city. And yes, they want simeone and if they manage to clean up the mess, they will get simeone. Signing Icardi won't be easy. He's also a massive twat who published and autobiography by age 23, and there's always the danger of him pulling a John Terry, and he'd be stupid enough to do it to Pogba, even...so yeah

Yeah, his wife (and how he got to be with her) is a story in itself. Not quite Giggsy level but close.

Regardless of any handy dandy circus that might come our way, we should go for Icardi. We need such a forward who scores goals even when the players around him are giving him peanuts.

They rightfully should have turned down the 55m. As for his and his wife's antics, well, Best, Giggs and Rooney aren't exactly saints. Short of pedophilia and human trafficking, as long as it doesn't affect his work on the pitch, it's not of our concern. We run a football club, not a charity. If he even becomes available, I hope we do our best to get him.

At least he's got the balls to perform as well as he is with all the circus surrounding him regarding Maxi and taking his wife is concerned, unlike with Martial who has disappeared into the abyss with regards to his affair, we need someone with a don't give a feck attitude!

Another two goals today. Mauro Icardi now has the highest tally of domestic goals and assists in the top five leagues with 14 goals and 5 assists in 18 matches.

I've been watching videos of this guy and at 23 I think it'll soon be time for him to step up to a higher performing club. He has a very good goal scoring record (61 in 109 for an average Inter team), and as their Captain he must have leadership qualities. He also seems to have that streak of attitude/swagger which is welcome at top clubs. He is a great finisher, physically strong, great at winning aerial duels and holding up play; basically taylor made for the PL.

I'd love to see Griezmann at United but if we are going for an out-an-out striker, this guy has to be considered. Jose mentioned in his press conference today that we will perhaps sign a striker in the summer, so I hope his name is in the mix.

Rooney out, replaced by Icardi, who can play backup to Ibra for 1 year before taking the role himself aged 25 sounds like a plan to me.

Probably going to go PSG as they are probably the one that need a striker the most amongst teams that can afford him, 25m plus Cavani is the only way I would see them let go of him.

Utd can afford any player in the world and can outbid any club in the planet. No player is big enough for Utd right now.

P.S except the Chinese ofcourse

Did you even read my post? Ourselves, city, Real, Barca, Chelsea and Bayern all have strikers we are content with. The only rich team who might not be satisfied with who they have is PSG and are the ones who might try the hardest to get Icardi

Mauro is actually my ultimate muppet signing rather than Griezzy. Don't get me wrong, I rate Griez but I just feel like Icardi is made to play both in the PL and for United.

Martial - Icardi - Rashford the new MSN

Not trying to knock ze Zlat, but I think Icardi would be on 25 or more goals if he had the chances Zlatan has had.

Icardi better finisher, Zlatan better team player

Hmm.... Icardi's highest ever scoring season in his career is 27 goals in all competitions, yet you think he'd be nearly matching that by the end of December if he was here? Last season he netted just 16 times in 34 games.

So let's just say it's a bit early for posts like yours @Cheekiey
