The first Inter player since Christian Vieri in 2001 to score a Serie A hat-trick away from home.
The kid is clinical in the box but its the rest of his game that needs to improve. He is also undersized to lead the line.
Leading the line has nothing to do with being a prolific goal scorer e.g. Messi is prolific and is as undersized as they come. Suarez is taller and bigger than Icardi, but Rooney and Aguero are undersized for leading a line.Undersized? Suarez, Rooney and Aguero, three of the leagues most prolific strikers and #9 of the last 10 years are not exactly titans, are they?
This obsession with size belongs only to teams that want to play tactics from the Sam Allardyce book of football.

When you are a lone striker, you are usually up against two 6ft+ CBs who will try to physically bully you off the ball. The lone forward would often have to contest aerially, play with his back to goal, hold up play, shield the ball and link up with the attacking midfielders. Without adequate size, the striker would be at a disadvantage , particularly with aerial balls, necessitating that most passes be played to his feet and would be more comfortable facing goal (aguero being an example).
Mourinho prefers a 4-2-3-1 formation with a lone striker (there is an interview when he was at Madrid where he argues why he feels this, along with 4-3-3, is the best base formation for the modern game). A look at the size of the strikers Mourinho has had in his previous teams (compared to Icardi) gives a clear idea
McCarthy: 6′ 0″
Drogba: 6′ 2″
Milito: 6′ 0″
Benzema: 6′ 2″
Costa: 6′ 2″
Icardi: 5′ 11″
If we buy Icardi, he would the shortest starting CF (and possibly smallest) to play up top for Mourinho
At porto, Mou played 4-3-3 with Deco playing behind the two strikers which were usually Benni and Carlos Alberto. Derlei was not the primary striker as he missed most of the season due to an injury. Benni was the starter for most of the season and their highest goal scorer both in the league and CL. Still Porto was not like the bigger clubs he managed, where Mou could buy almost any player he wanted. You are wrong. Mourinho won the CL with Porto playing 4-4-2 and having as forwards Derlei and Carlos Alberto.
Carlos Alberto 5' 9"
Derlei 5' 9"
Mauro Icardi to be more precise, is 181cm tall. Louis Suarez, who you said is bigger, is 182cm. That's no difference at all in fact. McCarthy, who usually started in place of Carlos Alberto, is 183cm. Again, difference that's under an inch.
If the players score the goals, he will use them.

Aye, that ship has sailed. Even aside from Icardi's potentially massive transfer fee, United are definitely going to stand by Lukaku (at least for the near future) after making him the 7th most expensive player of all time. And Icardi is being linked with other clubs as well, so the competition for his signature will definitely be more intense than it would've been in previous transfer windows:I think this is the kind fo striker we should really be going for if we want to build a world class team. Too bad though he will by now cost at least 120M €.
Yeah but you don't play juve every seasonHis movement is far better, and he’s constantly making Juventus defenders his bitch in bigger games.
Besides, he's not particularly better than lukaku
€110m buyout clauseThis is the player we should be spending the 75m on instead of Lukaku. But then Inter were demanding the mountains for Perisic so feck knows how much they would want for Icardi. And yeah, the boat has sailed too
Perhaps only Madrid has a chance to get him if he ever leaves Inter

IMO he is. Right now I think he's probably the best striker in the world on current form.
Cavani is better than all of them really currently.Kane certainly is.
