MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Okay, so I'm not the one to peddle this kind of shit, however a guy I work with whose brother is a football journalist and has been incredibly reliable with info previously (I knew a fair bit before that Owen Coyle was taking over at Bolton, etc)

Anyway, apparently Rooney's lawyers are now confident that they will be able to use some EU law (I think I saw someone mention it, Webster's or something?) to get him a £5m move at Christmas. Presumably this is where he buys out his remaining year of his contract?

If so...well...

Wow. Just wow.

I try not to attach myself to any player, which is why I wasn't upset when Rooney cheated on Colleen. But to hear he wanted out since June?

I'm sure I'm not the only caftard at work right now that can't concentrate on work. I'm not upset, just confused.

Might as well ship him out in January now. We last saw the real Wayne Rooney in the Bayern ties anyway. Some kind of imposter has been taking his place ever since.

Hope its not City. But I do want a big fee, although that could be tough to get given his contract situation.

Best case scenario would be 50 mil + and if City offer that then we should take it.

Lets be honest.

Ronaldo was the worlds no1 player.
Tevez was a brilliant and har worker.
Rooney was hit and miss. Brilliant and Baffling at times. World Class - perhaps. Over rated for sure.

Now see where the money goes.

Rooney had the potential to be a far far far better player than Tevez ever could be. Ronaldo is a different animal.

Sadly, Rooney is a much lesser man than I thought.

My real fear though is not him leaving or anything. Rather that we need to sell him to fund our debt. That's what I hope isn't the case.

Absolute bullshit. There is no way on earth that any player would ever get that kind of money especially with the new Uefa regulation rules.

Ronaldo will in the 5th year of his contract...he has a 25% wage rise every year. Just saying...

There are ways around that. Goal bonus, appearance bonus and so on and so forth.

Hurts to say but this was the season where he was meant to remain consistant and push on for Ballon D'or.

Negotiations behind the scenes, someone has offered him/his agent a massive payroll. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Bitters are behind all this.

Collymoore seems convinced that he will be sold to shitty and Stretford calls himself a United fan,

No. What? I don't read or pay attention to the sports stories in newspapers.

Well, not paying attention to a load of things seems to be your problem here.

Weird that he told Sir Alex he wanted to leave on the first Saturday of the season, really strange timing.

Does look that way, unless he just wants out of England all together

Once a Chav always a Chav. From his numerous off field issues -sex with prostitutes, Grandmothers, pissing deunk in the streets.

Sell him for as much as we can but do NOT sell him to another club in England. We will pay for that.

The later quote is legendery.

Indeed it is. Although hurt Fergie took one hell of an interview today. Just described what United is all about and that absolutely no one is bigger than this club.

It's his decision really. We've seen better players than Rooney go on. We'll cope through this.

Just goes to show what is to have Scholes, Giggs, Neville, etc in your team. The days of that era of footballers is gone then. Time for the new one - over hyped primadonnas.

RobbieSavage8 Robbie Savage
If Rooney was greedy he would let his contract run out in 18 months and then get whatever he wanted so how is he greedy by saying go now!!

Good point from Robbie.

Eh, 18 months is a hell of a long time to wait.

I feel pretty confident money isn't the motivation behind this.

Difficult to say what is though.

Some of the shit being sprouted on here now is just sad though.

What a cnut

Could the root cause be that SAF forcibly asked him to play the second leg of the Bayern Munich QF?

Thats just my assumption by the way.

The club and him have known this since august ... feck sake no wonder he's been playing shite

feck him in with the reserves until January then we can get rid of him , he should never be allowed to Play for united again..

I hope he regrets this

Refusing to meet our manager to discuss contract....
Adamant on his decision to leave, doesn't want to discuss further
Telling us he would sign a life contract 6 fecking months ago
Pissing over Fergie during the ankle issue

Shit, how can you watch that Fergie interview and get the impression he's leaving on good terms?

I agree with all that. For me though, it will be where he goes next that defines his legacy with the fans ultimately. His next club should tell us a lot about whether he's moved for money or to rid his life of the media here and challenge himself abroad. I'd not begrudge him the latter two but obviously if it's the former he won't be remembered fondly and rightly so.

I guess he has precedents to look to now - Tevez and Ronaldo have both left and continued to develop and flourish. It used to be said the only way after United was down but those two examples prove it's possible to leave and avoid that... It's strange days to see 3 wonderful players not even in their prime choose to leave United. Very very sad really...

Eh, 18 months is a hell of a long time to wait.

Think is if we do not play him for a certain amount of games per season, he can walk for free. He could trigger that. And if United were going to keep him to rot on the sidelines for 1.5 seasons, it'd be better for a mutual termination than to pay him wages.

And it further goes to show that you don't 'know' player at all. Unless they're the likes of Giggs and Scholes who have proven their class, dignity and loyalty over decades, it's very hard to. I always looked at Rooney as that slightly simple young kid who is born to be a football pitch and doesn't care for much else. Clearly I've been proven wrong.

Chin Up Lads.

Let's not plunge to the depths of Pool and Shitty fans in this self flagellation.

Either the team will come together and kick on or it will ruin our season.

Now if Rooney stated he wanted to leave in August, that casts some light on why we wanted David Villa last summer.
