MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

He never bothered with our contract offer which we were willing to match or even better.

Listen to the MUTV Fergie interview. Fergie said that there was no offer because they didn't bother to listen to one.

I don't know how we could match an offer of 200 grans a week

I've rarely seen Fergie as emotional as he was in that interview :(

Its a smart move. He's put the onus squarely on Rooney. He now has to explain what happened between spring and summer to make him go arse over tit. I think we all know the answer.

But Rooney isn't bright enough. He'll come over as a complete lying dick.

I thought he played the game for a genuine love of football, of all the players in the modern Rooney always stuck me as someone whod play the game for nothing, thats what everyones said about him for years, today just goes to show it really is all about £££, theres no loyalty, players will play for anyone offering a nice tidy bonus.

Do you think Ronaldo would have left to play for his 'boyhood' club if he had not been offered 'crazy' money?
Of course not, no, but I still maintain it wasn't the main factor. He could hardly avoid getting 'crazy' money wherever he went!

Rooney comes across as a person who cannot really discipline himself, which was a quality I admired in Ronaldo. The insight into his personal betrayal of a pregnant wife (I'm not moralizing here. just using it as a way to glimpse into the man's mind) and his personal betrayal of a man who treated him as a son. Its a huge character flaw. People like that wont go far in life without tripping themselves up.

Agree totally... look at all the murky business with his agents and the court cases etc. Misguided and unable to make correct choices.

I have even always preferred him to Ronaldo.

However, he wants to go, he's told the manager, so bye Wayne. Thanks for the memories and thanks for giving your all over the past seasons.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Same here...until today....now he can feck off to bitters

Now he can afford 200 "high class" whore shags a week - good luck to him...

Which means he's already verbally agreed to terms elsewhere and the cnut knows we won't be held to ransom. Rooney hasn't given the fans a season, but I bet you he has 200,000+ reasons to leave the club.

Each one makes him look a cnut!

feck that. The fans have NEVER stopped showing him love. He's stabbed the club, the managers, his fellow team mates and the fans in the back.

He did it with Everton yesterday, He's done it to us Today,

and he'll do it to his next club tommorow.

The man is a shit cnut, and he was one before we bought him. We choose to ignore it, but lets not pretend we didn't know what he was.

The way he treated Everton and in particular David Moyes after he left was terrible really.

I am surprised by all this but I really shouldnt be

Don't think it's ALWAYS like that. Ronaldo to be fair didn't leave for money. Agree with you on the first bit. That's the impression I had.

Although the news comes out of nowhere and is thus a bit of a shock, I can't say I'm surprised about his lack of loyalty. feck him and let him leave if that's what he wants. Should he change his mind and wish to sign then it better come with a apology to SAF, the club, the other players and the suporters. Whatever happens though, Manchester United will go on and we'll have the last laugh!

We shouldn't have to match 200 grand a week. If he had any feeling of pride or loyalty for the club, he'd take 60k or so a week less to continue playing for the club where he is loved and respected. Whatever we would have offered him, it would have been definitely over 100k a week and a shit load of money regardless. If money is his actual ambition, an extra 50k(?) a week, then he can feck off to City.

If anyone wants to leave let them go. No one is bigger than Manchester United.
Class player who has got £££££ signs now flashing in his eyes as he has obviously been tapped up.. Be sad but right to let him go for the right price.

To fans it may mean more, but not to players. For them it's a job.

Not to all players IMO. You get all types like in all fields. Even when it comes to jobs you have people who truly get attached to the company, what it stands for, it's principles and it's environment.

If SAF felt there was any chance of him changing his mind, I don't believe he would have gone public today.

He went public because he felt one of two things were happening and he had to defend the club. What he has said was perfect. He left the door open. I don't think he said anything wrong. The balls in Waynes court. If he thinks he can do better, he's a fool. No one forced him to make the mistakes he has and he had better grow up fast.

Maybe stick him on for the last five minutes of a match when we're 4-0 up or something so we can give him the send off he so truly deserves.

To be honest, I'd rather he didn't u-turn. This will only hang over his head and the club if he stays.

I'd rather he went in January and we start rebuilding.

Agreed. Boot his arse down to Eastlands as soon as possible, where he can shine amongst those mediocre feckers.

He might have cash in his pocket, but I wouldn't want to be him.

At least now we might see more of Chicarito, who, in my opinion will develop into a very special player.
