MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

What a cnut. He's basically saying "I want to leave to club because we aren't going to win trophies".

Rooney could end up being the hero here, because he could be the one that forces Gill to come out and admit the truth as opposed to teh usual bollocks we know he's prone to spout off.

Wow....Your agenda has fecked with your head mate. That's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen written on here.

He's shown no respect for the club, for Ferguson, for the players he's playing with, for anyone..(including his wife as of late) ...He's also been knee-jerk in the extreme if this is true. Saying "Oh you might not sign the best players in the next few years? Well feck you I'm off then...I'm not even waiting around to see how we do"

And yet he'll be a hero to you?

My God you've lost it. Thankfully most fans aren't as perverted by their agendas as you. He'll never, ever be a hero.

Rooney is right in what he's saying, whether its the real reason no one knows. Being 700 million pounds in debt is effecting us, Ferguson can talk about value, Gill can say what he wants about the money being there but the fact is it isn't just look at the evidence. As for questionaing the timing, this happened in August when it was just starting to become apparent that we weren't spending the Ronaldo money again. The Glazers are ruining this football club and its about time someone official from the club came out and said it.

That statement's not even worth commenting on really.

It doesn't explain why Wayne Rooney hasn't been putting the work in on the pitch, it doesn't explain his childish statements to the media last week, his shit behaviour off the pitch, etc.

It's a cowardly attempt to hide behind other issues at the club and use that to play on the minds of the fans, and it's so fecking see through I almost feel embarassed for reading it.

Rooney the politician...get fecking real.

Does anyone know where he lives? Someone should go dump a load of manure on his driveway. The twat.

For what? Telling Rooney the truth?

Even if we have no money, Rooney is the bad guy here. Or one of them. In no way can he escape the blame.

Look at other players who have been in the same situation... Even foreign lads like Fabregas and Torres. Even they havent stooped to this ricidulous level to ensure they leave. They are acting fairly professionally while their moves are on hold - Rooney is going out of his way to make sure he doesnt need to play for us again.

He is to blame whether Gill has been lying to us or not.

That great but how much of us think United's policy is floored? Would you stay at Liverpool if you was Torres? You asking stupid questions. Yes they have been loyal in a sense but was it and is it the right thing for them and more importantly did they have the power that Wayne right now has?

I doubt Rooney would stay but if Fergie or United were desperate enough, if Fergie had funds for the summer, perhaps Rooney would stay?

I do believe that Rooney is issuing an ultimatum here. I won't sign unless.......

Dont be silly. He's just saying what Stretford told him to.

Does he really expect me to believe that Gill said we won't be signing anyone. You may disagree with Gill but he knows his PR stuff.

exactly. are we supposed to believe Gill said something like 'to be honest wayne we fecking skint mate - why do you think we're trawling the portugeese 3rd division for players hahaha so anyway your new contract....'
As if. Gill would've given him the exact same line he's given everyone else 'the money is there if the manager wants to spend it'

the only person who would give wayne any reassurance about signing the best players would've been fergie, gill would've distanced himself from that straight away

Some people are disappointed that MUST (and some "Top Reds") are agreeing with Rooney here.

Wise up. The club never came first, I'm just glad it's so obvious right now.

Playing Devil advocate.

1)United transfer dealing no matter what peoplea re saying have been curtailed due to the Glazers debt. Thats speculation at this moment, SAF in the last 2 transfer windows has spent near £25m on players opting for a unknown gamble rather than extablished players, he has a tradition in looking and developing youth

2) How long is SAF going to continue I said before hes probably gone by the time hes 71 which i think is another season away but i think we will be able to replace him with a well known manager

3) We have not replaced Tevez or Ronaldo Tevez in his last season was a bit time player, Ronaldo how do you replace? You reshape and adapt

4) Rooney shouldered so much of the responsibility last season and did he think he could do it again? Well we are doing well in terms of scoring this season so its not like he will have it all to do on his own

5) Ronaldo and Tevez have moved on and are earning more. I think its the most likely possibility in this move

6) Staying United with uncertainty with the squad and manager - SAF, Gigs, VDS, Neville will most likley not be here in 2 years. What a pussy, i dont know if my friends will be there in the future so instead of repaying the club and fans by staying and doing my part im going to high tail it out.

Add it all up and it seems Rooney has come to the conclusion that its best for him to leave now.

Just my take on those points

The difference is that Torress HAS stayed at Liverpool...For the last 2 years they've been in the shit. They've won nothing, gone backwards...But he's stayed. Ditto Fabregas at Arsenal. They waited it out if you will, because both players do seem to care a bit about their clubs.

If Rooney is to be believed, he has literally jumped at the very first opportunity...A few months after saying he wanted to stay for life because of one meeting with Gill?...

Come off it.

Rooney gives a statement prepared by his PR people. Well done Wayne, the white Pele.

Good luck, hope our paths cross soon etc etc... feck off and don't let the door slam on your way out.

 @ Fred. You seem to be the only person in the world who's actually fallen for "his" statement.

Also worth mentioning that Rooney is implying the current team isn't good enough to win the league, after consistently playing worse than any of them since the start of the season.

The fecking cheek of him demanding we sign better players when he can't even outperform a 20 year old Mexican in his first season in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, down in London, a young Spaniard has consistently been Arsenal's best player, despite being denied his dream move in the summer and Wenger failing to sign the new keeper every fecker on the planet knows they need to win the league.

Which page of the thread (or rough time) is Rooney's statement first posted on?

There's so much going on in the thread it could do with a contents page.
He doesn't have a first statement as such. A lot of journos hit the papers with it the same day because they had all been rung up the previous evening by someone from Rooney's camp who's job it was to inform them. They were told that they were all being informed and they all gave virtually the same story.

"For me its all about winning trophies - as the club has always done under Sir Alex. Because of that I think the questions I was asking were justified."

...Yes of course Wayne, because we havnt won 3 of the 4 last PL campaigns, missing out on one by a point, a Champions League, 2 League Cups, World Club Cups etc let alone individual awards. If it's all about trophies you would feckING SIGN A NEW CONTRACT

fecking bullshit. And he's been absoloutely shite since he fecked his ankle v Bayern so it really is amazing that he is calling everyone else shit.

"We're not attracting the top players"

But the player we sign to replace Ronaldo was Rooney best assister last season.

The irony

We've won more trophies in recent years than City and Madrid. Its a rubbish excuse to hide behind really.

Pogue your posts right now have been nothing short of brilliant. Respect.

Wasnt Rooeny once this guy who'd play football just beacause he loved the game so much? One who didnt care for money or fame etc etc. One who if he wasnt a pro would play out there with all the rest of us? Such a down to earth guy.. ?

I would rank this only slightly below the Jon Obi-Mikel kidnap drama in terms of terrible disguises for outright greed.

I always credited you with having half an ounce of intelligence.

Clearly you seem intent on proving me wrong.

For those that want the Glazers gone, this could be a pivotal moment, because the contents of what was said to Rooney could prove beyond any doubt that Fergie is having his budgets restricted by the owners.

If bringing that out into the open, and David Gill has to admit that we are skint and that there is no money for players, then great.. Well done Rooney.. Nice one mate... Now pack your bags and feck off.. You've just done us all the biggest favour.

Does anyone know where he lives? Someone should go dump a load of manure on his driveway. The twat.

I do. You cant get near for security men.

tell you what though, Rooney will be persona non grata in Manchester now, even if he does go to City. He's not going to enjoy life. Even the shopkeeper where both Wayne and Coleen go to buy papers, bread and CIGARETTES says they are not welcome any more.

And ROoney would be the first person that GIll would go to and say "sorry mate, we're kind of in the shit"

Perhaps Rooney trusted Gill when he said funds were available. After all, he wouldnt be the first gullible twat to hang on every word David Gill says would he.

Yes, Rooney is no doubt being a greedy fecker, but the very fact he's come out and openly named David Gill as the reason for him leaving suggests theres some truth in it.Jesus, you knew there would be muppets who would seize on this. It was such an obvious move by Stretford to try and justify the greed, but I'm still amazed they went that far.

Wayne Rooney does not care one jot about Manchester United.

If he'd come out and slated Fergie, then I'd have called him the biggest cnut going, but he hasnt. He's said exactly what many United fans have been thinking for a long while, only David Gill has tried telling us all that we're wrong.

Rooney could end up being the hero here, because he could be the one that forces Gill to come out and admit the truth as opposed to teh usual bollocks we know he's prone to spout off.

Wow. Making Rooney your posterboy. A player with about as much love for United as Steven Gerrard.

You're going to regret this.

We were only on course to win the league with Rooney's goals. The moment he was out injured, look what happened.

He asked for reinforcements (the two players quote) and got Smalling and Bebe instead.

But yes, dick move from Wayne.

His made what he feels is the right decision.. Which most will disagree including myself..

Yes money will play a big part but he obviously also thinks United just aren't attractive enough for him to turn the money done.

What he said was massively offensive for 3 main reasons.

1. If it's true, he's disrespected all his teammates (who are ALL playing much better than him right now), who he's basically said are shit. Rio, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Nani, Giggs, Scholes, Berbatov... these are not shit players. Some of them, like Giggs and Scholes, have had a far, far better careers than Rooney will ever have, have been better players (in my opinion) and are infinitely better human beings. He's also disrespected a manager who has been in football since before his thug of a dad hit puberty and is the most talented, respected and successful manager in the history of the game.

2. It's blatantly not true, and so he's insulting all the fan's intelligence by spinning us this drivel. 99.999999% of us are enormously more intelligent than Rooney, we can see through his lies in an instant.

3. The real reason he's going is because he's been offered obscene, ridiculous amounts of money at some other team, probably because of some rich Arab. We as fans have always paid his ludicrous wages, now he's saying it's not enough. He wants another ten mansions, and another fifteen Bentleys, and another thirty Rolex watches... all for kicking a ball about, and missing the net.

The Red Knights plan to meet to discuss their plans for Manchester United once the Wayne Rooney saga is over, talkSPORT has learned.
The Knights, self-styled saviours of United, have kept their counsel following stern warnings from the unpopular Glazer family that the club is not for sale.
A bid of around £1.5bn is expected to make the Glazers listen but the Knights are unwilling to go that far as they do not want to line the Americans' pockets with too much cash.
Rooney's transfer from Old Trafford now appears a formality after Sir Alex Ferguson claimed the striker is adamant he wants to leave the club, dealing the United manager a massive blow.
Tensions between the fans and the owners are at an all-time high in light of the Rooney revelations.
And financial experts have told talkSPORT that United's value will be diminished if he is sold, although not to the extent that the Red Knights envisage - they believe a sale would push the valuation of the club closer to the £790m mark.
The Glazers are confident losing Rooney will not harm them too much in the long term in terms of United's worldwide appeal and Ferguson will have money to spend on a replacement.
The Red Knights, however, believe United losing Rooney could be a turning point in the battle to oust the Glazers and a protest against the owners is planned for the next league game at Old Trafford, against Tottenham next Saturday.
talkSPORT understands the group will convene once Rooney's future is sorted and they have not ruled out making a bid - believed to be below £1bn - for the club, as the war to rid United of the Glazers continues.

That great but how much of us think United's policy is floored? Would you stay at Liverpool if you was Torres? You asking stupid questions. Yes they have been loyal in a sense but was it and is it the right thing for them and more importantly did they have the power that Wayne right now has?

No, the question is would they abuse that player power and become the biggest cnut in football like Wayne has.

It doesnt matter if United's policy is FLAWED, Arsenal's clearly is but Fabregas is still putting in the performances for them hoping to leave next summer. If and when he leaves, sure it'll dissappoint the manager and the fans, but at least while he's there he's going to be willing to help the team and try and help them win things. Thats how Rooney should have acted. Instead he's acting the spoilt brat and going out of his way to make sure he doesnt have to act professionally and perfom on the pitch.

I go and have dinner and come back to this!

What the feck!

Deep down he knows he's in the wrong and fully to blame. Not Malcom, not Gill, not Fergie, but the fat balding pea-brained granny rapist. He wouldn't have made up some cnutish statement trying to blame the club for not signing anyone or that we don't have ambitions anymore. Get to feck, this club, no ambitions? LOL, that's the biggest bunch of horse wank I've heard.

To do this all mid October as well? fecking absolute disgrace. Have a bit of fecking respect. Hope he sits on the sidelines for the rest of his career and achieves feck all. It's what he deserves. Money grabbing cnut.

Does anyone have the full statement? I've only read quotes, not the whole thing in one.

Great point Mockney, nail on the head there.
