MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

No its not..

I want to hear EXACTLY what GIll has to say for himself.

I want to know what Rooney was told.

This shit has gone on long enough. Time for David GIll to start telling us the truth.. Not the bullshit, the truth.

Exactly.

I highly doubt Gill is going to come out and say that we are not that ambitious though!

I'll add to this, that I'd rather see the likes of Hernandez playing for our club every week, who just stepping onto the pitch looks like he is living out his dream and when he scores looks like a 12 year old kid who's just scored a world cup winner, over some money grabbing whore who thinks he's bigger than the club.

exactly - and don't forget just how much berba says this club means to him!

The biggest proof that rooney is not honest is simply the timing of his statement.

if he really loved the club and the supporters he should have made it after the game not two hours before a game.

He could and should have said this two years ago when we were looking at selling Ronaldo.

My issue with Rooney is WHY NOW.

Do you think Smalling and Bebe are going to be two of the best players in the world so?

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

It's easy to say which players won't make it, namely because only 11 people in the entire world can start a game for United at any given time.

It's a bit more difficult to stick your neck out and try to name one of those 11.

That may not be Rooney's reason for leaving the club, but can you argue with the reasoning? When Nani or any other player from the current squad reach their peak they will make the same noises and leave eventually. The point is till the Glazers don't leave or sort out this debt, make a few key signings, we will have this problem. And every time a player leaves you cant slate them for being money grabbing whores, sometimes we need to remove those tinted glasses.

Who are these clubs that we can't compete with? In terms of prestige it's probably only Real Madrid and Barcelona, and that would be true to an extent no matter how much money we had.

In terms of money it's only really those two clubs and Man City. Barcelona are in a financial mess, and there has been a vote among members about whether the club should sue Laporta (the last president) for financial mismanagement, and Real Madrid and Man City are in a position that we could not hope to match even without the debt. One has a multi-billionaire owner and the other can literally blackmail Spanish banks in to lending as much money as they require.

Apart from those clubs, no others have as much earning and spending power as we do even with £50m a season debt repayments. Few clubs are spending right now because of the financial situation in the world and the fair play regulations, so I just don't see how that can be used as an argument, unless Rooney was either wanting to sign for Real Madrid or Man City, one of which hasn't won a great deal in recent history, and the other for nearly 35 years, which would all but confirm that he is looking for as much money as he can possibly get his hands on.

I don't like the financial situation that we are in, but I do wish that people on both sides would stop pretending that this is an either/or situation, where we are either solvent or insolvent, rich or poor, competitive or uncompetitive, as opposed to a continuum where we are not as competitive as we could have been if we were debt free, but where we still make more profit after debt repayments than most clubs in the world.

All this while, I was a non paying member of MUST, and I was thinking of paying up this month, and make a contribution to the phoenix fund.

I will wait for the email communications from MUST regarding their take on Wayne Rooney. If there are opportunistic quotes and turning this shameful episode into some kind of obituary for martyr Wayne Rooney, I'll definitely rethink being a member of MUST.

Sorry, I don't think using cnutish excuses from a spoilt brat should be used to further their agenda, however good it is.

If I promised Ozil captaincy of Spurs, would he join them instead of Madrid. I'm sure that must have been one of the parts that might have did it, but that doesnt mean Vidic overlooked the forecoming "investment" in the squad and our ambitions as a club.

This.

Glad to see 99% of fans deriding Rooney for his pathetic excuse. It's just sad cnuts who are trying to defend him.

He's such a coatto.

From Guardian

Meanwhile on BBC 5 Live: "Upon being asked what he thinks of Rooney's statement, Mark Lawrenson asked 'Who does he think he is? Really?'," writes Paul K. "Then, despairingly, he asked again: 'Who the hell does he think he is? Ambition!? [dreks up a big smelly greenie and flobs it over Rooney's already spannered public persona] He needs to remember where he came from... Its so sad'. Lawro sums it up."

The difference is Spurs and Madrid is huge. We are talking about a player who allegedly was considering leaving.

If it was the case that Vidic was genuinely considering leaving, then offering him a new contract with more money and also the promise of the captaincy would obviously make a big difference in the contract negotiations.

what did he say?

That its purely about Money and the rest is hogwash, that Rooney has no right to stroll into the old trafford boardroom and start demanding such and such player be bought or hes off, that hes at the biggest club in the world and he should realise what hes got, United made themselves the worlds biggest club long before Rooney stuff like that, was very heart warming actually.

The boy has a point. Will be interesting to see how saf responds...

He does.

I'm not at all approving of his disloyalty but he has a right to be concerned...

How the feck will we be able to get top players in coming years without increasing our cripling debts? We do this whilst selling players so god know what the balance sheet would llok like if we actually spent anything

Obviously it does, never said it doesnt. But all good players at top clubs will have a eye on the club's progress as well. So to say that those were the only two motives for Vidic's contract renewal is a bit misinformed imo. He would have also considered the club's ambitions and obviously they seemed to go in the right direction for him to resign which only makes Rooney look like a prick, anymore so, if its possible that is and makes his statement look even more ridiculous.

He does.

Ok so he's got a point. Fair enough.

But what has changed between the start of last season and this season ?

Whats made him suddenly feel disillusioned.

I'll tell you what it is.. Its the sight of greener grass over the bridge. Just like it was when he left Everton.

When he signed pro terms for Everton he knew what that club had been through, he knew they hadn't got any money. But he still signed.

Then two years later he's fecking off because the club couldnt match his ambition. He needed to be at a bigger club.

Five years later he's at it again. No money.. no ambition, so I am fecking off.

He knew Everton was skint so why sign for them. He knew two years ago when he signed the extension we were skint so why sign for us back then ?

Everytime he's happy to sign, but the moment something a bit richer turns up he's off on his toes like a rat from a sinking ship.

The irony is, about 3 years ago he did an interview and they asked him about the owners. He said the players didnt concern themselves with that side of it and just concentrated on playing.. Suddenly City come along and he does sit up and take notice of the owners.

Nice one Wayne. Talk about using the problems of the club to suit your own needs.

I don't know which has been the bigger shock this week. Rooney wanting to leave Manchester United... or whatever the feck that 'thing' is on Ji Sung Parks head! Good fecking grief man get a grip

Has anyone considered that maybe Rooney and the players know what we suspect but are lead to believe otherwise by Sir Alex and Gill that we do not have any money to spend?

Obviously the financial statements suggest this, despite the cash in the bank which is clearly needed to service our debts.

God, we don't even think of the PIKs these days

Thats precisely whats got my back up.

Its his sudden claim of surprise and horror.

Who's he trying to kid that he woke up last week and realised we are skint.

And if this is supposed to be a "the Glazers are killing United" kind of message from Rooney, then its backfired because the stupid cnut has just given them £50 million or so to bail them out the crap.

Who's claiming that Rooney wants to send a message to the Glazers? Because whoever it is, is quite frankly a Rooney fanboi. Wayne Rooney isn't sending a message to anyone, he's just looking for the highest wages and is only up his own ar*e.

 have to agree!

I haven't read through all of the posts so I appologise if someone else has made this point.

I think a big part of the reason for Rooneys poor form eminate from the well documented problems with his personal life. Moving to another club will not put things right. I can see this ending badly for everyone.
