MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Couple of things that struck me after reading rooney's statement.

1) if you read between the lines he has asked how long will saf be staying and either wasn't provided an answer or didn't like it.
2) The general opinion seems to be he is not confident with the youngsters that have been brought through. I don't see that, as not so long ago he was in that same boat. I think his issue is with some of the players that start week in week out and have not been replaced with quality.

He's 24/25.. and we narrowly miss the league last season after dominating the previous 3 seasons. You would think he would be able to see things a bit more clearly and have a brain that functions to take his time and show a bit of patience. In a few years if his concerns really do happen, he can make a decision. It's not like he can only play till he's 26-28. Giggs at 36 is still going strong. It's all about the money, and maybe his off fields problems have really hit him hard. His marriage, his lack of form, and he probably had a run in with SAF regarding his injury ever since the Bayern game. Who knows.

rumors that mean nothing. Marca are a joke but people listen to rubbish and we shouldn't. I reckon a lot of people dislike him now because they think he'll sign or has agreed to join city...all based on rumors. We can't deal with these things because it's clearly unfair speculation

They dislike him for being adamant he wants to leave, stating so at a really bad time and then putting out a statement right before a champions league match damning the players we have.

Whether he goes to City or Real, he's a twat. Its just better that he leaves the country.

I agree with this. Perhaps Fergie has said he will be leaving at the end of the season, come rain or shine, and this has unsettled Rooney.

And there's no glitch

I'd like to see Hectic explain this one.

Which positions and players currently you think is not good enough in the side? Coming from you, it's probably the whole team. It's not so long ago the crap side that we are were beaten by Chelsea to the league by one point after losing to them twice through questionable decisions. And we battered the CL finalist before we went out through a few questionable decisions(Rafael cheap 2nd yellow, and Bommel who does the same but gets away with them.

It's not who I think it's who rooney thinks that's the question.

That shouldn't stop him from signing a new contract though. Thing is, he can leave at anytime such is player power.

Tune in to KEY 103 folks!!!!!

Apparently they're playing a tune by Justin Beiber.

Very true but from a selfish scouse perspective he knows if the price a club pays for him is less, then the salary he will receive is likely to be greater.

I knew you were going to say that.

What do you think SAF should do, Nick?

Sorry mate nipped out for lunch. I'd love to see him stuck in the reserves, given enough CC sub appearances to satisfy the 10% rule and left to rot for 18 months, then he can do whatever he pleases after his contract has run out, but he'll not have played a properly competitive match for 18 months, or played well for two years.

anyone know if there was a training (warmdown) session in carrington today and did rooney arrive for treatment?

From how he was banging on last night I can't see him going anytime soon

Yeah, perhaps this will spur him on to stay, but if you read the Rooney statement, like the line about "It is all about winning trophy's for me, United have won trophy's, as they always have with Sir Alex.." it has to make you think what he is getting at.

Sir Alex is still at the club, which means, going by Rooney's own admission, the club will go on to win silverwear. Which he said he wants to continue doing. Nothing else.

Either that statement makes no sense at all, or something in relation to replacing Fergie has been brought up.

rioferdy5 Its vidic's Birthday 2day so might have 2 treat him 2 a nice pair!!

:nervous:

Nice pair?

It makes no sense because its a statement by Wayne Rooney.

If he was worried Sir Alex would be leaving, he'd have said so because in bringing that information to light, a lot more people would be sympathetic towards his reasons for leaving and he wouldnt look like as much of a cnut. He wouldnt face such vitriol, he might even have had bearable living conditions if he stayed in Manchester but played for another team. But no he hasnt said that at all. Because he knows if he said that the manager would tell you its bollocks.

Simples, don't sign the contract....and leave on a free. I don't understand why he's so desperate to leave now. Well, I have an idea, it's because he wants Ronaldo type wages, and he'll only get that at Manchester United-lite. He;s clearly agreed a deal, which is why he's shown all his cards.
