MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

OliverKayTimes It seems Man Utd can't "nip this in the bud" tonight. If
statement re Rooney tonight, it will be a "holding" statement (via @DiscoMirror)

There was gossip about a loan deal last night - easier said than done, but maybe they really are trying for "a cooling off period / trial separation" or something like that so he can play while his future gets sorted (or be benched by somebody else if he can't get his act together).

Haha what the hell?

Nemanja Vidic has contacted ManUtd.com to correct a story that appeared on another website, DailyMail.co.uk, earlier today.

The United captain was misquoted by the Mail, making it appear that he was talking about Wayne Rooney. In fact, the word Nemanja used in a post-match interview was 'Rumour' - not 'Rooney' - and his quote should have read as follows:

"Rumour is going around and talking about the bad playing, or something happening around the club with the Glazers, it is not good for the players and not good for the team."

The story has also now been corrected on DailyMail.co.uk.

This from a Chelsea fan, on some Chelsea forum or something similar...

Quote:

Here, we see that Rooney, at age 24, now considers himself bigger than Manchester United. Bigger than the manager who started as a manager at Old Trafford when Rooney was 1 year old. Manchester United is no longer 'matching Rooney`s ambitions`. What ambitions, Wayne, are they (beyond that of deciding and judging Man Utd`s transfer policy)? What a breathtaking delusion and arrogance.

The thing is, Wayne, you might have not fully understood where you fit in United`s current malaise, and have excused yourself from helping the club that has given so much to you. If Man Utd are slumping in the League, conceding sloppy goals, it is, to a large extent because of you. You have brought the circus to United, against the desires of Siralex. Ferguson had to sit you out of the Everton game to protect you. He was prepared to do that. He then may or may not have invented an ankle injury so as not to play you against Valencia. Whatever his reasons for having done that, your boss was prepared to put his team (and your team-mates) at risk for YOUR benefit. United have been dragging around a zombie, it turns out since the middle of August, once the season had started. Even when fit, you have been playing as if you were wading through soup. Still, your club has been prepared to play you. That`s how important you were to United, and how strongly Ferguson feels about you.

And now that the club is having a difficulty, this is how you repay them? A truly loyal player would think how he can help that club. A truly talented player would consider how he could lift up the team. A truly gifted individual would see how his talents can help the team, rather than blaming the fact that the club is not bringing in the 'world class talent`. And a person with a modicum of intelligence could understand that it is, in fact, Wayne Rooney who is the cause of much of the club`s malaise rather than citing external circumstances.

Wayne Rooney should consider what responsibility he has to shape Manchester United`s future. Instead of that, through his megalomaniac actions, he`s as culpable as the Glazers in fostering the club`s decline.

To be fair, that's just a load of censored bullshit..."Rumour" can't talk and Vidic's English is not that tragic that he'd say that, surely?

This cover-up would indicate that maybe Rooney is in line to pull on the jersey before he fecks off, not a good thing IMO.

Pleased to hear that's been corrected. Was sure he hadn't said the words Rooney and even when I replayed it again it still sounded like "rumour".

Interesting post by the Chelsea fan. Only two dubious points. "It could be funny to see that Wayne has done exactly the same thing to the third biggest club in the world: going from declaring his intention to retire at United to jumping ship. However, the stunning lack of loyalty doesn`t end there." Not sure who he thinks are the two biggest!
He also says "You have to be particularly devoid of loyalty. Is that the kind of player Chelsea want on their books?" Surely Chelsea are the prototype of the club ruining football by syphoning players up by spending megabucks.
I agree with the rest of it though.

I just watched his speech again, and I garentuee that there will be a mass of stories written about the current United sqaud and situation by ABU reporters over the next few weeks. They'll be writing off Ferguson's Empire, claiming it has reached it's end. But I also garentuee you that within 3 years, just like he says, that this United team will once again be sitting as Champions of England, with new heroes that have risen from this group of youngsters. Macheda? Hernandez? Rafael? Cleverly? King? Smalling? Obertan? Bebe? Eikrem? Keane?

Who knows? I bet a few of those names are amongst them though.

True if he was talking about revenue generated.

Just seen the Holloway rant, wow... guy is an absolute legend, sign him up as our number two!

So wheres this statement then? ive been gone for the past 2 hours wanking natalie sawyer out of my system and i come back to nothing?? anything remotely interesting happened?

We found out that Rooney is actually Rumour

'Rumour you ugly, fat, bald, granny-shagging, borderline-illiterate mongoloid', they'll probably shout.

Wayne Rooney will enable Manchester City to 'win everything' says Carlos Tevez
Sheikh Mansour has personally asked Carlos Tévez whether he thinks Manchester City should sign Wayne Rooney with the striker fuelling the club owner’s appetite to pursue the audacious transfer by telling him: “with Wayne we will win everything”.
City are facing strong competition from Chelsea to sign the England striker who appears set to stay in the Premier League when he leaves Manchester United this January rather than consider a move abroad to Real Madrid.

Chelsea will make a lower bid than City but are convinced, according to sources, that they are ahead in the running right now despite the assumption that Rooney wants to remain in the north-west

The Premier League champions believe that Sir Alex Ferguson would rather sell to them, even though they will bid only around £20 million, than City, who are expected to offer £35-40 million, and that the United manager has the authority to do the deal.

FINALLY! :

JacquiOatley RT @DTguardian: And here we go. #MUFC statement
on Rooney in next ten minutes.

It's expected at 7pm

daniel taylor
Lots of talking still going on at #MUFC, lawyers involved . . going to be a long night but still expect statement later . .

So no resolution tonight it seems?

Probably ironing out details with lawyers and such.

They would like to sell Real quickly if they could and knock City out of the water, bringing in at least one Real player. That would take a bit of time to organise, just my thoughts

According to Fergie's interview, it seems Ruud was the one who didn't want to play with Ronaldo and Rooney 6 years ago.

As far as I'm concerned, Ruud and Rooney fall into the same ungrateful category.

Stop naming Ruud in this saga like it is a fact. It is NOT. Fergie has not mentioned any names.

The difference is how they took their words in thought, and timing.

Ronaldo always made his strongest points when its was either summer, or nearing summer transfer market, where it gave the club some time to think about it.
As for Rooney, 'Why now?' replies in the thread is all that's needed to explain.

Another thing is the form of the players. SAF protected both players, and whenever Ronaldo played despited wanting to move, he still bagged goals and still showed class. Rooney? He's been on shit form since World Cup. Ronaldo (as the main spot) got us to two Champions League finals. Rooney, when it was his turn to shine, gave us 2nd place spot in the Premiership, and a knockout against Bayern. Both have earned sliverwares alike, but who made the bigger impact? Ronaldo did.

Third matter comes with their attitudes. Ronaldo was never the one to go around and say "I'll stay in United as long as they want me" et al. Rooney did that, and now wants to transfer. Remember how Ronaldo made some outrageous comments on the first year he wanted to leave? It drove us mad, but if my memory serves me right, he did take his words back and apologized. Rooney, currently doesn't seem to show any signs of that. Not only that, Ronaldo gave time to both club and himself to sort things out, and guess what? He listened to SAF and decided to stay for one more year.

Fourth matter is their history with previous clubs. Ronaldo showed awful lot of respect towards Sporting, and left the club in a very good way. Rooney did not. His ex-club Everton, hate his guts. As someone said earlier, not leaving itself, but how he left. Rooney left traces of disloyalty in the past, and repeating leaves football fans (mainly MU fans) dumbfounded.

Fifth matter is real important. Rooney decides to say "Our team sucks". Who would be happy to say that? I mean, yes we were disappointed when the transfer window closed for not buying big targest, but he should realize that the team -while underperforming- is definitely not 'shit'. Ronaldo to my memory has not said anything as absurd as that.

Sixth matter. Scandal. I don't think I need to go any further in this subject.

To sum it up, it's natural the fans miss Ronaldo, and to be enraged with Rooney.

Bloody brilliant post, full quote.

Am I alone in wanting Rooney out of the club?

I could never support him again, I would struggle to celebrate one of his goals, it would always leave a bitter taste in my mouth now we have seen his true colours.

I just want us to get some solid cash for him in January and invest in a couple of players to put us back on our path.

No you are not. I don't care how much goals he will bang in if he stays. As far as I am concerned he could win us the treble and it wouldn't change anything. Get that fecking Judas out of the club, rather sooner than later. I'm usually aboslutely against booing but each and every fan who will throw abuse at him and boo him has my blessing. Wayne fecking Rooney, that fat Scouser and shagger of whores, is dead to me. He makes Tevez and Heinze look like saints!

Slightly longer version.

Legend.

I absolutely love, love, love Roy. Now he was a player I would call world-class and true United quality. Not that whingeing, greedy and pathetic Scouser. And Roy's right, we'll just do fine if we reinvest the money. We lost Ronaldo and we did fine - and Ronaldo was levels ahead of Rooney in each aspect of the game.

TheMirror saying it may just be a holding statement

i.e "Discussions ongoing, no further comment until ...."

We'll find out in 6 minutes

What can I do in 6 minutes.....
