MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

In all fairness, that cheating business probably wasn't really a factor. Or do you think perhaps he was on for 200k until Gill remembered about the cheating?

Here you go Wayne £200k a week.

Oh hang on.. you fecked a brass.. Well all things considered, we'll reduce it to £180k. After all WAyne, the less money you have, the less chance there is of you fecking another one.

Up there in terms of what exactly ?

Match winning ability? Goal-scoring and all round footballing talent. Ronaldo and Messi feck around being no.1 and no.2 respectively, Rooney on form (like the majority of last season) is easily no.3 and often pushes them both very close.

I can understand thinking he's a cnut for this whole affair, which he is, but his footballing ability shouldn't be under any doubt. You know, form is temporary, class is permanent blah blah.

talkSPORT's Stan Collymore says the City was done, and Rooney bottled it. The Call Collymore presenter just posted this on Twitter:

"City thought a deal was done, trust me.U-turn,bottled it".

"Amazing how many dickheads think I got it wrong that he was going to City.Errrm,he was,he changed his mind...Does that make me look silly"

Collymore

if its true then i am happy!! i still think he is a cnut and he has to win back respect and trust but he is a great player

and i can put him back in my fifa11 team now....

I can now put him back in my FM game....

am glad he's staying but he has to work his ass off and win my respect all over again...

Why? I'm serious. I'm absolutely disappointed and gutted that he isn't gone. Give me the likes of O'Shea, Fletcher and Gibson over him on any day of the week. Just because he hasn't signed a new contract doesn't mean I will forgive how he held the club to ransom. He made Tevez and Heinze look like saints.

Manchester Unted is bigger and will always be bigger than some random player from Liverpool.

No IM serious I actually meant nice one as in I completely aggree with you :)

I think the words you are looking for are

feckING TWO FACED HYPOCRITS.

I have to agree.

"Rooneys a cnut get out"

Wayne signs new 5 year contract

"OMG he's jesus so happy and knew all along!!!!"

Come off it.

We all know that SAF will rid people from the team if they overstep the line. Clearly there are other factors involved here and SAF feels the Rooney should not be removed like RVN, Beckham or Keane.
Exactly!

Anyone who will boo Rooney at OT is an idiot. Fergie should have all the support over this.

This feels like the Steven Gerrard leaves Liverpool saga where fans at anfield burned his shirt in 2005

Did I say you ?

I am talking about all those on here that were saying what a wanker Rooney was, how we should get rid, how we didnt need him.

Half an hour later they are there saying "fecking superb.. best news I've had all day"

.

Name and shame them. Most still seem to think he is a cnut

Absurd if it's true his wages are 180k/week. I'd be interested to know, if the 180k is right, how much more it is compared to the last offer we made that Rooney turned down.

I was hoping he would be off after this whole fiasco, and getting used to the idea of being a Rooneyless United. He's going to have to have one hell of an explanation to justify this.

Probably the cynic in me but what's the likelihood that United got Rooney to sign a contract simply so they can realise his full transfer value in the summer? Perhaps they promised to sell him to whoever he wants to go provided he signed a new contract. Ugh, this whole process makes me feel dirty anyway.

David Stowell on Twitter

"12 mins ago I was on my sofa in joggers, now at OT in a suit ready to interview #Rooney. Exclusive interview on #MUTV later... "

Talk about much ado about nothing.

Seriously though I can't see this changing much long term, he has shown that in the space of six months he can flip from wanting to stay forever, to wanting to leave, to wanting to stay forever - the only difference I see is that if he has another change of heart you won't be fleeced on a price.

Why can't it be 180k? Even before this stuff came up, the rumours were we were ready to offer 150k/160k yet no one was THAT bothered by that considering thats what Lampard/Terry get and they are both older.

Yes hes a great player, but he should no way be rewarded for what hes done.

The only winner out of all of this is Fergie who I have to admit has handled it brilliantly given the circumstances.

Agreed.

I hope he ends up with you lot.

Rooney is looking like an idiot after this, but no matter what. Manchester United fans should never boo a player in the red shirt, not even after this. Wayne Rooney belongs to the club and should have all the support.

Everyone can make mistakes, and Wayne has apparently said sorry.

Does no one have links for this interview?!

Oh well, THAT makes it ok then

Collymore

The rumour might not have made him look silly, but if he acts like a 3yr old over this he'll certainly do justice to that gag.

Find some grace Mr Collymore.

A picture, of him being pictured for the interview.

Only at United.

As I said on Tuesday this whole episode was a battle of perceptions - and how we are perceived as a club that sits at the top table in world football. Rooney has not endeared himself to anyone. But Alex Ferguson remains top dog at OT and Manchester United have demonstrated (as if it needed to be demonstrated) the calibre of the football club. Alex wins this one in the long term and for that we should be thankful...

@badgerwolf For those asking, roos City deal was done. Stretford drove the deal. Word is that SAF has directly influenced this change of heart in Wazza

The fact that it was even a possiblility for him going to City (which it was) still makes it pretty much unforgivable and worrying. So Im still very much

And Rooney is still a wank stain in my eyes. Club has been held to ransom.

Perhaps the club (Glaziers?) needed holding to randsom before they would act??

The team needs investment or we will slip behind ours rivals....
