MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Come to think of it, I can play with United online on FIFA11 again. I just couldn't bring myself to do it these last couple of days.

Thanks, Rooney. You greedy cnut. At least you're our greedy cnut.

Yes I do. If not, he would not say something like this and lie to us fans.

So you believe everything Sir Alex says as well?

He's going to say whatever he has to, to do whats right for the club. Whether or not he forgives Rooney.

Most likely Rooney has done damage that cannot be repaired and we're going to let him go when its right for Manchester United, in the summer.

I think the words you are looking for are

feckING TWO FACED HYPOCRITS.

If this was a democracy the Rooney out brigade would win comfortably so I don't see what point you are trying to make.

As it stands it is not and Fergie holds all the power so whatever decision he makes I trust. I seriously doubt the 180,000 a week though and would imagine that it's more a case of;

Option A- Rooney signs a new contract that will ensure we get what we deserve when he is sold.

Option B- He has been convinced that this is the right club for him, as we are always there or there abouts, can pay him a lucrative wage, and he won't get much better than that.

It's one or the other really.

Have to say I'm very happy that we got this contract signed either way as we wouldn't be a very good business if we hadn't. Manchester United can't let their top asset walk for peanuts and this has ensured us a degree of protection, whatever Waynes motives might be.

Rooney is looking like an idiot after this, but no matter what. Manchester United fans should never boo a player in the red shirt, not even after this. Wayne Rooney belongs to the club and should have all the support.

Everyone can make mistakes, and Wayne has apparently said sorry.

Oh that's alright then. If he's said sorry then. Yeah, I'm happy with that.

Most people don't get their wages doubled when they make mistakes.

I wouldn't boo the fat shit. He's not worth the breath.

BenHibbs Interesting Rooney says it was crucial SAF said "the door is
still open...

I didn't say that, but it's a step on the way, true?It would be a disaster for United, Fergie and the club if the fans are gonna bo Rooney in the next game. Would make things much worse.

Maybe for some, not for me. He might be wearing the shirt, but He'll never be "united" ever again. The day he leaves Ill be happy.

Does no one have links for this interview?!

It's being held back until 6:30 on MUTV.

Thank feck some of you lot don't even know where Old Trafford is, let alone visit the place to go to games.

Don't believe everything you read and see in the press.

If this isn't a lesson learned, I don't know what is.

As said, I will reserve judgment on Wayne untill I hear what he has to say.

This interview on MUTV should be worth a watch later.

Interesting Rooney says it was crucial SAF said "the door is still open". Exclusive interview on MUTV and ManUtd.com at 18:30 BST

Eh? So United were trying to convince him for 2 months, and yet its only when Fergie publicly stated the door was open he decided to do a u-turn and try and double his wages.

Fergie clearly said that Rooney wasn't listening to any offers.

I will neither forget nor forgive how he treated our squad, the fans and SAF like a piece of shit. I'm not delighted by this announcement, instead I feel sorry for loyal servants like O'Shea, Fletcher or Scholes, who must have felt like a piece of rubbish after his statement regarding the quality of the squad.

Manchester United don't deserve to be hold to ransom by a stupid little Scouser. Others might swim with the tide, I won't and I still stand by what I have said in the last few days.

I can't believe how fast some of you are celebrating him again.

Agreed, I'd have called his bluff and told him he fcuk off, and until we are ready to sell you, you will be playing in the reserves!

What a fecking joke.

Hopefully this is just a ploy to hike up his price when we sell him in the summer. The sad thing is he's going to get a great reception when he plays again, judging by the spineless reaction on here.

Match winning ability? Goal-scoring and all round footballing talent. Ronaldo and Messi feck around being no.1 and no.2 respectively, Rooney on form (like the majority of last season) is easily no.3 and often pushes them both very close.

I can understand thinking he's a cnut for this whole affair, which he is, but his footballing ability shouldn't be under any doubt. You know, form is temporary, class is permanent blah blah.

Get real man.Rooney has only provided a single season where he played like a proper great player. The other seasons were fine but it's only last year that he took another dimension.Don't compare him to Ballon d'Or and WPOTY winners ffs.
Either you're overrating him way too much or either you're underestimating how better both Messi and Ronaldo are than Rooney.I don't even mention the superior players in Drogba,Villa,Xavi who have done better than him and more importantly, who have been far more consistent.

I reckon you're police. You have that superiority complex they all have.

I don't think he will leave this club. I just can't see both Fergie and Rooney lie to the fans with all this quotes today and then sell him in the summer.

Everything can be repared. Rio got repared and so will Wayne's situation.

Thats true at least

I imagine he was told to feck off regarding a move to City/Chelsea, and not wanting to move abroad decided to stay.

So what happens if Vidic now turns up next week and says " I am not happy... I am not convinced by the ambitions of the club"

"oh here you go Nemanja, have an extra £80k as well.. Oh can you tell Evra we'll see him next"

The one thing thats kept us and CHelsea, and City apart is the fact that we wouldnt sell out to players demanding huge money. We've held onto the belief that when you play for United its a privilige.

This has just put us firmly on a level pegging with CHelsea and City..

You can get what you want as long as you pay.

He's a bit of an idiot Wayne I think we all agree. But we fans must do what is best for Manchester United and to boo a player in the team will not help the club we all love so much. It will take time to forgive him 100%, but maybe it can happen.
The most important is that booing Rooney will make it even worse.

I imagine he was told to feck off regarding a move to City/Chelsea, and not wanting to move abroad decided to stay.

But why not just let his contract run down? In reality we were in no position to tell him where he could or couldnt go due to how little time was left before he could walk for free.

Maybe for some, not for me. He might be wearing the shirt, but He'll never be "united" ever again. The day he leaves Ill be happy.

Agreed.

Each to their own, but I can't understand how some people performed a U-Turn - from criticizing him yesterday (and rightly so!) to praising him like he's Jesus. This is the guy who treated the club like shit, why would I approve of that? As far as I am concerned he can leave today. Football is more than just trophies or good spots in the table. I'd rather have some loyal servants like O'Shea and Fletcher in the team who adore the club and know what it is about than some ungrateful spoilt child like Wayne Rooney, even if it meant missing out on a good league spot.

I imagine he was told to feck off regarding a move to City/Chelsea, and not wanting to move abroad decided to stay.

Well considering he only had 18 months left on his contract and we'd lose shit loads if he went on a free I'm not so sure we were in a position to decide where he'd go.

Agreed.

A-fecking-men

THe best post in the whole thread.

I could not have put it any better myself

I can undertstand that feeling and probably Rooney would understand that too after all this shite. The point is that he should not be booed, after that we can hate him all we want but when he plays for United he should have the support like the other ten in the team.

But yeah, I know what you mean and can't disagree with it one bit.

Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or off of one season as did Messi, so if I can't use his best season how can I accurately portray how good Rooney actually is? I know he's been a twat, but don't be a jilted lover over this. Rooney is a top class footballer and anyone who thinks otherwise are delusional over the situation.

Wasn't so long ago Rooney was in the running for the prestigious individual awards, alas an injury at Bayern Munich occurred, remember?

Either you're overrating him way too much or either you're underestimating how better both Messi and Ronaldo are than Rooney.I don't even mention the superior players in Drogba,Villa,Xavi who have done better than him and more importantly, who have been far more consistent.

I don't remember Drogba, Villa or Xavi being as good as Rooney at 24. Rooney at 28 will be superior to any of them. Also, while they all individually excel at one or two things (at their respective ages) Rooney has everything in his locker, including Xavi-esque passing and creativity.
