MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

What a fecking joke.

Hopefully this is just a ploy to hike up his price when we sell him in the summer. The sad thing is he's going to get a great reception when he plays again, judging by the spineless reaction on here.

My thoughts exactly.

Oh please? Him and Cashly and Terry can all argue over whos the biggest bastard :lol::lol:

Terry, Cole or no other player in the Chelsea squad has ever pulled a stunt like this - Drogba likes to moan but is a decent individual off the pitch. When has John Terry ever disrespected Chelsea fans in such a manner, or moaned at England supporters?

But why not just let his contract run down? In reality we were in no position to tell him where he could or couldnt go due to how little time was left before he could walk for free.

He gets more money from a transfer fee than from a Bosman.

Agreed.

Each to their own, but I can't understand how some people performed a U-Turn - from criticizing him yesterday (and rightly so!) to praising him like he's Jesus. This is the guy who treated the club like shit, why would I approve of that? As far as I am concerned he can leave today. Football is more than just trophies or good spots in the table. I'd rather have some loyal servants like O'Shea and Fletcher in the team who adore the club and know what it is about than some ungrateful spoilt child like Wayne Rooney, even if it meant missing out on a good league spot.

For once I agree with you.

There's no denying that's he put all us fans in an awkward position. I was ready and willing to hate him for the rest of my life but at the end of the week he's only gone and pissed on the parades of some City supporters who thought they were about to officially usurp us.

Now, when does he take me out shopping?

Well considering he only had 18 months left on his contract and we'd lose shit loads if he went on a free I'm not so sure we were in a position to decide where he'd go.

It's not in anyones interests to let his contract run down, least of all Rooney. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want 18 months of rotting on the bench/being a bit part player, imagine what that would do to his stock.

The people saying everyone is just accepting him with open arms are fecking idiots and are choosing to ignore the many, many posts that state the exact opposite. Cynical pricks.

Have you stopped to ask yourself why Sir Alex looks so happy that he's staying?

So what happens if Vidic now turns up next week and says " I am not happy... I am not convinced by the ambitions of the club"

"oh here you go Nemanja, have an extra £80k as well.. Oh can you tell Evra we'll see him next"

The one thing thats kept us and CHelsea, and City apart is the fact that we wouldnt sell out to players demanding huge money. We've held onto the belief that when you play for United its a privilige.

This has just put us firmly on a level pegging with CHelsea and City..

You can get what you want as long as you pay.

Again: Agreed. I was always of the opinion that we should maintain a reasonable wage structur and that we shouldn't even try to match ManCity's or Chelsea's wages. Now with Wayne throwing a tantrum and getting what he wants other players will also want a pay rise and understandably so.

This whole saga had one message: Insult the club, insult the manager, insult your teammates and it will result in a huge pay rise.

Granted they havent disrespected the club, and to be fair I actually quite like Drogba on and off the pitch, but to deny that Terry is a complete cnut of the highest order is ridiculous

For those of you accusing people of making u-turns, someone said you should name and shame. YOu really should you know because most of you levelling this accusation are doing it without any proof having decided to blur 100 posters into 1 to substantiate your accusation. For my money, there are two camps:

1 - those that decided he could go

2 - those that cried that he was going

Group 1 is today the unhappy group, feeling like they have been made a mug of by Rooney and his agent.

Group 2 is the euphoric group who don't have any prinicples.

£180,000 is quite frankly a joke. And if it's true the club has been held to ransom and has caved in. It was always about the $$$$$.

I'm disgusted.

apparently the balaclava wankers from last night have been on the radio claiming he's staying because of them :lol::lol:

People need to stop with the whole "double his wages" thing from this, if anything he only(lol I hate saying that in this sense) got a bump of about 20k from the initial offer in August.

And this City deal "being done" shit is very interesting, if that ever ends up being remotely confirmed, and he did a u-turn on what they would of offered, anything from 240k-300k before image rights, he deserves some credit, even if it's very very little, but to take 60k less to stay here is loyalty..........isn't it? It took making Gerrard the highest paid player in England to keep him, then it was the same deal with Lampard..Rooney is what, like 3rd highest paid in Manchester from this? -_-

There was a contract on the table from the start, it didn't change because of this.

Terry just does it privately with the media wrapped around his finger, until his activities turn up front page in the Sun.

So much for "trust in Sir Alex"

Why won't any of you learn, wait and see what happens.

A lot of the people here continuing slagging him off without keeping an open mind are just stubborn as you now look rather foolish.

Rooney has hurt EVERY United fan. He has to win us ALL over.

Lets see how it pans out and the ins and outs of this new contract before we start deciding things eh...

I'm a bit... hmm. I.... hmm

I don't know how to react to this, i'm happy he's staying as he's a very good player, but angry that he's staying because he completely pissed all over the club and the players with that statement he released.

The only possible thing that could make me truly happy with him again is sacking that twat Stretford and getting Gary Neville as his agent.
