MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

i have had enough of this. I am sad to see a player treat Man Utd like this. in the past we know no player would of stayed but now it shows its all about Player Power. On Wednesday we were not good enough for Wayne Rooney in his eyes and now all i can think is that we have met his wage demands and him and his agent are laughing all the way to the bank.

i will support him as he will be a Utd player but on a whole basis Love him or hate him. SIMPLE hate him.

Put it this way, IF it IS £180,000 which is pure speculation at the moment, it's still £70,000 a week LESS than he was apparently going to get at City. So yes there is an element of 'if it was all about the money why has he just turned down more money from City to stay with United or more than his original but much less than his alternative offer from another club.'

Because he saw the backlash from our supporters/media and thought "i dont want to be remembers like this"

I don't want him to build bridges.

I want him to throw himself off the nearest one.

Fred you are now starting to sound like a bitter or a scouser.

As long as he is playing for United I will support him as I would any other team member. I hope the OT faithful but this affair behind them and get behind the the whole squad, incl. Rooney.

Well the £250k was also pure speculation, we have no idea if they were ever even interested in him. So are you actually inferring the he's been assured of the clubs ambitions and that's why he's now staying?

I also kinda wonder what the end result of this saga says to the star players from other clubs who will be negotiating new contracts.

The cnut in his own words.

Yeah, there's pretty much no remorse from him whatsoever.

Fergie said Wayne apologized to him and will do so to the fans. Wayne has basically just said that he's been CONVINCED that this club is right for him, and basically said he hopes the fans will get on his side soon.

Fred you are now starting to sound like a bitter or a scouser.
.

Its bitter and scouse fans that overlook things like this in their pursuit of glory and trophies.

They may sell their principles, some of us United fans dont.

He was very vague on the details why he wouldn't sign the contract to begin with, probably not allowed to say he'd been offered more cash somewhere else.

so what convinced rooney to sign new deal now,pay-rise on his wages or that fergie give him promise that he will invest in the squad now and buy quality players....

The former. As for funding new signings, I suspect a large chunk of the club's money (or line of credit) will be used up topping up salaries of other players who want a better deal.

Are there any players at United you don't hate? You seem to have too much of hate in your body..

Utter twat.

I've been convinced... well bully for you..

You came to United costing £30 million, you've spent 6 years at the club, and you've just worked it out.

Of course the majority will. But surely you can understand a strong dislike ATM for someone whose behaved in the pathetic way Wayne has. I don't think he'll ever be a fan favorite again. The fans will see him just as he sees us, as a means to success, rather than any strong relationship beyond.

City's offer of 250 grans wasn't enough then.

(Blame Twitter)

It’s difficult. There’s a lot of media coverage that you have to deal with. I’m sure with other players these discussions happen as well, but they just never become public knowledge. Obviously my situation did, and it made it more difficult.
It became public because your team kept leaking stories to the press, you fecking twat.

I can sense no humility or regret in that interview. Disappointing.

Because he saw the backlash from our supporters/media and thought "i dont want to be remembers like this"
image loss affects marketability

more importantly , i dont think he was leaving .. it was a negotiating tactic ..

i'm sure he was holding out for more than he has signed for
both sides have probably eased their stance and an agreement was reached
he tried to play hardball, fergie called his bluff

all was fine till he decided to make that stupid statement . what an idiot

I'm inferring that we don't know, we are pretending we have knowledge we don't and we just need to wait and see.

Otherwise, tell me why a money grabbing cnut would turn down an extra £70,000 a week if it was all about the money. Media backlash wouldn't matter if it was all about the money, because after all it's all about the money.

Basically people don't want to believe that it may not be about the money because they can't stand the prospect of being wrong and him not being quite the cnut they are making out because they enjoy hating him now.

I'm just waiting and seeing now what happens. What the story turns out to be. Rather than assuming. Last week I posted a Daily Mail link to say that Rooney was leaving, I got laughed at and scoffed at, then it turned out to be true. Then we posted links to say he was staying, got scoffed at, then it turned out to be true. Then people are saying that he may have been given assurances, now they are getting scoffed at, will it be 3 right in a row?

Basically it reinforces that nobody on this board knows feck all about it anyway, so we should just wait and see rather than trying to come across as experts and scoffing off other peoples opinions.

I'm actually not sure what you mean Fred, but I think you're agreeing with me. And I think I agree with you. I sincerely hope we soon get to a stage soon where we aren't reliant on him greatly.

Rumours are we gave Rooney another £90 Grand takes his wages to £180. Thought it was about Ambition

Pretty naive if you thought that in the first place. He signed to move to better club with a better chance of winning trophies in the first place.

The days of players showing that kind of loyalty to deserve the "fan favourite" type of adulation are long gone.

Best news possible imo, great that he has signed the deal, don't know why anyone wouldn't want a player of Rooneys ability in our team. Glazers will probably have to invest more now as well. Hopefully he can shake off the injury and get back to form now.

What's with the people taking digs at fans being genuinely angered by this whole thing? Can you fecking blame us?

Our best player said he wanted to leave, insulted the fans, the squad, the manager and he club. Said we didn't have ambition anymore and he wants to go somewhere where he'll win trophies, implying we're incapable of doing so, which as a team mate I would have been fecking pissed off by that.

He then signs a new contract a few days later and all is meant to be forgotten and forgiven? How about no.

Last time I checked football is about passion and loyalty to the club. Not bloody sensible remarks in case he decided to stay so I didn't look like I overreacted to some. I react how I felt, and how I still feel.

He will play for us again now, if he scores goals and wins us games, great. Benefiting us. But I'll still think he's a massive twat for this whole saga. I may, but doubtful, lighten up on my views in the future, but I will never love him as a player again. His reputation and chances of becoming a great for this club have been well and truly shattered.

Hear hear. He'd better score a lot of goals but no matter how many he gets he'll always be a robbing scouse twat now

To be fair, we should have known he'd stay as soon as Ballague started talking about agreements having been already made with City.

The truth is that most big United stars will have had a similar motive and contract talks as to what Rooney has had. The only difference is that Rooney's became public knowledge, admittably to no one fault but his own.
Rooney has been badly advised my his agent. They made a mistake in first sending out rumours to the press and then going public with that statement. They forced the issue to become public knowledge.

Rooney really does care about the club, otherwise he would never have acted so quickly once it became public knowledge. Don't ever forget that.

To be fair when you consider he's one of the two or three best players in the country and the way the market's gone, 180k p/w is about right. Particularly when you consider what he'd have gotten elsewhere.

It would have been nice if he didn't feel he had to behave like a bellend to get it though.

wanker is clearly reading from a script

cant even remember 5 lines ..

Totally.

And the funny thing about it is, even if it were about winning things, he makes it sound as if it's a case of 'them' and he literally has no say in how things will shape up. Perform on the pitch you twat, teams become successful when their best players reach new hight instead of throwing little tantrums when they play like rubbish.

Its not about the ability though.

United have too many leeches using it to line their own pockets, the last thing we want or need is the players joining in and jumping on the bandwagon.

Whats coming next ? Another letter off the club saying ticket prices have to go up again to cover his extra wages.. ie Roy Keane all over again.

A strange mixture between anger and happiness here. The last few days must be like when a suicidal person finally says "yeah i'm ready to go." It was just pure clarity and I was so excited about where the club could go after Rooney. Even if it was down, we'd done the right thing.

But, there's no doubting his presence makes the club stronger. Here's to a long road back Wazza.

You can start with a brace in the derby.

Pretty much the whole interview Wayne is looking down and to his left. You might wonder the significance of that

I wonder what this has done for Stan collymores 'reputation' though, he was openly offering 'any money you like' bets for Rooney to go to City, it was a 'done deal trust me' according to big Stan..........

I hope he didn't actually have one of those bets...he'll be a bit out of pocket the poor man....

Forget what? He acted quickly because Fergie handled things the way it did so as to ensure we can get the focus right before the next game. If it were up to Wayne he most likely would have kept this lingering till he got his way.

There has been nothing to suggest he genuinely cares about the club and lots to suggest he does not.

Sir Fergie's interview btw after cnut signs.

Love Fergie btw " We ARE the biggest club in the world, and we should never forget that "

He's wrong on one bit though. Rooney didn't apologise to the fans at all.
