I don't see Ribery, Robben or Di Maria as classic wingers, they're all playing on the wrong side for starters.

No different to Conti, Boniek or Figo, is it? Maybe Ribéry is more of an inside forward but I can't think of Robben playing anywhere else besides on the wing, no matter what era he played in.
Robben and Di Maria are wingers, Ribery's an inside-left.
I'm convinced Mad Winger is actually Kagawa himself. The name ('pissed off about playing on the wing' was too many characters) and serious anger towards Moyes is a give away.

More evidence of his defensive work against WBA, put in a good shift and our goal came from him winning the ball back in our half and then moving forward with the ball before passing to Giroud.
Love how when he gets the ball is a forward pass is on he will always look to make it, his passing skills allow him to pass through tight spaces with ease and that along with his excellent movement has really added another dimension to our play. Dunno if I have mentioned it here but surprising stat against Napoli he covered more distance than Aaron Ramsay! Guy is always on the move, not sprinting all over but subtle movement.

He's a unique player. There's no one better in that role and I don't think there has been anyone with his sort of quality in that position. Seeing him play for Arsenal is making me sick, and what's worse is they got him for free seeing what he's bringing to the table. This is only possible because Madrid are the way they are. Bale is a terrific player on his day, but Özil is pure quality all the way through and will go down as one of the best playmakers that ever stod on a pitch, along with Zidane.
Did we really turn Ozil down? In a summer of bad decisions, this might have been the worst.

You just know what you are getting with this guy, he's sheer world class quality and you get what you pay for.
He's a great player and we missed out as simple as that. Could have played in the same team as Rooney, but more importantly there's nobody better who could have replaced him either now or next summer.

fecking brilliant player, like Wenger said you don't need a scout just money when it comes to someone like him. Just oozes class and love how he is bringing everything together. Great to see him scoring goals as well, I reckon he has the ability to get 10 league goals a season while still putting chances on a plate for others.

Showed great determination in the build up because he sprinted more than half way down the pitch to get on the end of that. He has really worked hard for the team as well in his games for us, has slotted in perfectly.

Not entirely accurate. He wanted to join either Utd or Arsenal and Wenger just put more effort into getting the player. Both bids were accepted by Cardiff and Utd sent Neville to talk to the guy.

The talk from Spain and Germany at the time was that on transfer deadline day he was holding out for United to make a move that never came and was pressured to join Arsenal by Real who needed to recoup some money and told him he had no future there (especially after they signed Bale). The talk from England was that he snubbed United to join Arsenal after talking to Wenger- possibly agenda based to make Moyes and Woodward look even more like a pair of idiots, possibly true (although I doubt we threw a £42m bid for him at Madrid on the final day, the plan was for one midfielder and to be linked with people to keep the fans on board- like Arsenal have been doing for the last few years).
It doesn't really matter now though, he's been brilliant for you while we've been lacking somebody to create and link the midfield and attack..
Personally I don't think your lot were in for him, especially as you kept hold of Rooney and still had Kagawa. Quite clear you needed someone to play alongside Carrick hence why you were linked to central midfield players throughout the summer.

Kagawa doesn't really exist to Moyes though. Think it was just that we were intent on keeping Rooney and were going to give Valencia another go on the wing, not really thinking about taking Ozil and using him on the wing if we needed to. Just get a great player in and if Rooney goes we have the replacement already.
Are people still going on about us not being in for him, or having the chance and turning it down? Big deal, he's amazing and he's making the league his bitch, but he's doing that at Arsenal, a side that completely thrive off players like him and built their team around him, if we signed Ozil I bet the Caf would still be complaining about us not using him properly or shafting him out left right now because we can't figure out how to integrate him into the team.
