Middlesbrough vs Manchester United

- Foster -

- Rafael - Vidic - Evans - Evra -

- Park - Scholes - Carrick - Nani -

- Giggs -

- Berbatov -

Think I'd like to see something like this.

Foster

Rafael
Evans
Vidic
Oshea

Park
Scholes
Gibson
Ronaldo/Nani

Berbatov
Macheda/Welbeck

This is what I feel SAF will go with. He's spoken about using the squad and mentioned some of the names I've started.

Up top can go either way really with Tevez or Berbatov starting along with Macheda or Welbeck. Depends on who he wants to use for the Emirates game. I'm betting Tevez will start at the Emirates so Berbatov to start here.

How long is Rooney out for?

I'm not sure I'd use Foster. VDS had a quiet night the other night except for a lot of kickouts so I'd use him.

start strong and save bring some pace off the bench late.
Boro will shoot their wad by 70 mins by trying to close us down all the time. hope those no marks don't injure any of our players.

Jacob's prediction

Optimism

Manchester United (from): Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak, O’Shea, Rafael, Brown, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Ronaldo, Nani, Scholes, Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson, Park, Giggs, Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Macheda, Welbeck.

That's practically our full squad he's took. I'm more confident now. I think we might see Rooney rom the off...

What?

Rooney is absent from all the predicted line-ups in this thread over the past day or so, so I assumed he picked up an injury that I didn't hear about.. Is there something I'm missing here?

I see Rooney and Ronaldo on the bench but not left out completely, i heard that Evans has a foot injury and Brown may make his comeback

Scholes - Giggs in the middle ?

That would be insane, no protection whatsoever ...

Considering we're playing the team with the worst goalscoring record in the league I'm not sure that matters.

I can tell you right now that when they play us i dont think these stats would help us the slightest! I can see Giggs and Scholes play but it will have to be with either Anderson or Fletcher as cover in a 433

Maybe not, but still, they're a crap team and we don't always need to be so cautious about things.

'That's not defensively solid', 'it's a big risk to rest our players' etc. We're playing against a poor team and we'll most likely win. Be confident.

Theres confidence and arrogance, we cant underestimate anyone at this stage of the season - i recall going to Derby and only getting one goal when everyone was so sure it would be a slaughter

United have dropped points to crap teams before away from home or have you forgotten that?

I have to work tomorrow and this will be the first game I miss in god knows how long. Who is in charge of that Minute by Minute thing? Will there be one going? I would prefer that to following updates on another website as curiosity is sure to get the better of me before I make it home and watch Sky+.

who do you think will be rested then ?

Giggs, Fletcher and Tevez, would be my guess. They're players who Ferguson will probably want to be playing at the Emirates and can be rested tomorrow without the team really missing them (that's not a swipe at them, it's just that we have excellent cover).

The likes of Rooney and Ronaldo would be missed against Boro, so I'm sure Ferguson will be starting them both with the view to take them off in the second half if things are comfortable. This isn't a Carling up game, it's a tough away league game that is of huge importance. Hopefully they'll be no pissing about with the line up.

I'm hoping for something along the lines of;

--------------------VDS-------------------
O'Shea--------Evans--------Vidic-------Evra
Ronaldo-----Scholes-------Anderson-----Park
------------Berbatov-------Rooney---------

We should rest Ronaldo - knowing those Boro cnuts, they'd probably injure him.

-----------Vds------------
Rafael--Vidic-Evans--Evra
Anderson-Scholes-Giggs
Ronaldo--Berbatov-Rooney

I don't really think such an important Premier League game would be the right occasion to rest our best player.

Potential banana skin fixture this, Boro with their game-raising antics could well pose us problems, hopefully we'll see this one out with the minimum of fuss... but this is United after all.

SSN just mentioned Boro haven't lost at home in the league since Boxing Day :nervous:

I hope Diddlesborough get relegated. What a shite club. Bunch of game raising twats.

to be fait they aren't a shite "club". theyve had some absolute wankers against us: pogatetz, boateng, morrison etc but the way steve gibson has ran them is admirable. also they raise their game against the big clubs most of the time not just us and they beat liverpool 2-0 lately when it looked like nobody would, what a huge win for us. anyway,no room for that today and im hoping for a 2-0 win from this line up:

VDS
O'SHEA
EVANS
VIDIC
EVRA

NANI
SCHOLES
ANDERSON
PARK

MACHEDA
BERBATOV

im hoping giggs will start at the emirates

Tevez Berbatov
Nani Scholes Anderson Ronaldo
Evra Evans Vidic Rafael
van der Sar

Foster, O'Shea, Brown, Giggs, Fletcher, Rooney, Macheda
