In the latest episode of the United Hour Podcast, Nik (@Rood) is joined by CEO Duncan Drasdo and Financial Director Andy Green from the Manchester United Supporters Trust for a special episode on all things behind the scenes at Old Trafford including a brief history of MUST and their aims today, views on INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe so far, and the Old Trafford regeneration.

I stand by my assessment that we have a decent first XI, but we have a few key players that we just can't do without, so in that respect, the squad is weak.

He did. That’s a fact. Doesn’t mean he outsmarted Ole, when you consider how the games panned out. Not that getting the better of Ole, tactically, would make some sort of footballing genius anyway. Or even a very good manager.

It is good to lift the spirit of the team after difficult start of the season.
If you can’t celebrate a win in a local derby then why bother caring about sport at all?

They had flash in the pan victories like this last season too, they'll still finish 7th at best. It's good though because it keeps Arteta in the job longer.

TBH I was more commenting on weakness of the argument that the results were somehow in and of themselves indicative that Arteta hadn't outsmarted Ole, considering they were actually great results for Arsenal. I don't really think managers outsmart each other either really, more like some are better able to get a tune out of the players at their command. I def don't think he's a footballing genius or a very good manager, Arteta that is (or Ole). And I'm a bit stoned right now frankly.

I've criticised him as much as any Arsenal fans and still hold concerns towards his ability to take us to where we belong.
But yesterday was a good team performance; in and out of possession the cohesiveness was evident. Good coaching but we need to be consistent and also remember that Spurs were truly awful.

I haven't said this often about Arteta's Arsenal but I enjoyed watching them against Spurs.

Their first 30mns were very good. But Spurs were all over the place, extremely open in midfield, and didn't offer much of a test. Still, it's positive for Arsenal.
Has the media lap this up like he's gonna make them a proper force already?

Hyperbole, but my point is: What has this Arsenal side done to show this isnt a fluke?
Wins against the obviously going to be relegated Norwich, relegation fighting Burnley and a misfiring Tottenham.
The media are desperately wanting Arteta to be the 2nd coming of Jesus for some reason. feck knows why.

I am very patient and a top 6 finish with European qualification will make me happy this season already. I am glad to see the young guns are getting opportunities and play well.
It showed there was a structure that he's trying to implement and execute. Previously when they won games they were dodgy performances and that was far from that.
Arsenal are in a bit of form and they caught a bit of luck with Swiss Charlie Adam being injured for a few months. Obviously the last result was excellent but it’s really anyone’s guess whether that is going to continue.
Its a results-driven business and Arteta still needs to prove he can get them over the course of the season.
But anybody who watches football and knows the game can see that this particularly group of players is the best Arsenal have had for several years and they're also very young. 11 of the 14 players who saw the field on Sunday were 24 or younger and 6 of them 22 or younger. There is real change going on from the Arsenal we've seen the past couple years.
The top four looks unassailable anyway so this year should really be all about continuing the reset, laying a good foundation for the future whoever ends up managing the club, and getting back into the Europa League. You can say those are small ambitions and you wouldn't be wrong but once you've finished 8th twice in a row with a rotating clown show of veteran players in and out of the side, a youthful team that plays some good stuff and finishes 5th or 6th would be a breath of fresh air. You've gotta start somewhere.

The crash back down to reality is not far away.
It would take time to get rid of the players Arteta doesn't want. It's hard in this current market to sell players that aren't playing, especially those on high wages.
So true. Ole has the worst and yet the best job in football.
We as fans place too much responsibility on the manager/coach when a team does badly. Sometimes, the players some managers have to work with just aren't good enough and it's up to the club as a whole to replace them with better ones. My problem with Ole right now is that he has WAY too much attacking talent in the squad to be starving for goals. Either the system is bad or the players aren't performing.
The problem with arsenal will be if they performed too good and consistently well most Of those youngsters will be tapped up by Bayern real Barcelona city psg in one or two years.
Have to stop talented kids to move away from your club in my opinion. If that's happened then one or two additions you can challenge for top 4 in next two years.
Kids maturing and adding two three very good additions to the squad yes you can challenge for top 4 in my opinion.
I think that is just about right. Saka is the big one as he only has a contract until 2024 and his agent is hard to deal with. The club has done well to sign the other young players until 2025 or 2026 but they really need to tie Saka down to a new deal sometime in the next 12 months.
You can't be a good team without good team spirit. If a win vs Spurs helps with that then all power to them.
Fair play. They were being laughed at for the first three weeks of the PL and had to watch Spurs win their first 3 games and everyone be excited about them.
In that context, and the fact that it is a derby, and that they went above Spurs in the table, and that they completely destroyed them in the first half, a possibly over the top celebration is justified.
Some perspective here please. We are only 6 games in. Too early to make predictions but having lost the first 3 games and under huge pressure, it’s surely to Arteta‘s credit that he not only has put a run of 3 PL wins together but importantly has demonstrated with his young side real promise. 7 of the players that started Sunday were 23 or under. Full of energy and technical ability but lacking in experience and tactical nous, it’s fair to assume they can only get better. You cannot underestimate the importance of the NLD to Arsenal fans. Even in a bad year, beating Spurs is always something to celebrate. There’s now a balance to the team that’s been lacking and hopefully there will be fewer defensive frailties which has been an all too regular problem in the past.
So, we’re not saying we are world beaters - far from it, though Spurs on Sunday did their best to prove the proposition. But as a Gooner, for the first time in years I can see a plan and I won’t apologise for being optimistic. I genuinely believe we now have a good shot at top 6, something I didn’t believe was possible a few weeks ago. Top 4 seems well cemented though if Man Utd continue to perform as though the whole is less than the sum of the parts, that may also prove uncertain. Frankly, I’m not sure you’re playing yet to a standard consistent enough to trouble City who I still have down as likely league champions again.
So, I’m not sure you can compare yourselves to Arsenal at this point in time. You have a squad full of experience and proven talent. You should be winning trophies with that. We are work in progress built around a young squad full of promise but unlikely to challenge the top 4 this season but hopefully we might earn a European slot for next season. We have a tough away tie this Saturday at Brighton. That might give us a better idea of where we stand but regardless of the result, I, for one am still excited by what I’ve seen so far.
