Minute by Minute: Aston Villa vs Manchester United

This game has been starved of chances, with Ronaldo's earlier effort from distance the best chance.

Ball comes off Rio's chest, Ref calls hand ball, O'Neill and Fergie both going mental on the touchline.

Milner sends a dangerous cross in from the right, and it gets caught under Rio's feet. He manages to clear before Agbonlahor can capitalise. Ronaldo gives away a free kick though. 30 yards out.
 
Surprisingly, Milner takes and he drills it along the ground and well wide.

Sloppy pass by Vida to Giggs almost lets Agbonlahor through, but Giggs just gets there first. Good pressure this from Villa off the ball, pushing United back to VDS.
 
Tevez has seen plenty of the ball today, but he has yet to do anything really positive with it.
 
Vidic fouls Milner in the air, giving Villa a free kick. Barry takes from deep ad VDS comes out and collects well!

Ronaldo forced to wait as Chris Foy deals with the usual wall shenanigans.

He eventually takes and it bounces comfortably wide.
 
Ashley Young cuts in from the left and beats O'Shea but Carrick is in smartly to clear.
 
Rooney plays in Park with a great ball. He takes to long to shoot though and Ashley young makes a great challenge to win the ball.

Rooney pops up on the right this time and sends in a devilish cross, and Park is just too slow to connect. Better from United.
 
Excellent cross by Rooney no one at the end of it although Park was close, United are improving
 
Rooney and Tevez almost link up to create a chance for Rooney, but Davies manages to clear.
 
Evra plays a one two with Ronaldo and wins a free kick on the corner of the box.
 
Free kick is being taken 10 yards further back for some reason. Giggs swings it in, and Vidic connects but sends it just wide!
 
Deflected shot by Ronaldo that is deflected wide and on the later play gives Villa a throw in
 
Agbonlahor flicks the ball over Vidic and tries to break through, but Rio and Vidic crowd him out.
 
Giggs makes a positive run through the middle and wins a throw in out on the right.
 
Tevez cuts in from the right and hits a shot straight at Friedel.

United have dominated possession, but have not really created any clear cut chances. Villa have defended well, but United have not been at their best.
 
Park has been our best player by far i'd say.

O'Shea shrugs Petrov off the ball, and Referee blows for a foul. Strange.

Well worked attack from Aston Villa with Barry and Young linking up well. Young plays Milner in behind out wide, but he shoots instead of crossing.
 
Carrick picks the ball up and holds it for a long while looking for a pass forward. Does not find one, and passes it back.

United give the ball away soon after, and Ashley Young, who has switched to the right, curls in an effort which VDS does brilliantly to tip over. Was heading for the top corner.

Corner cleared by Vidic back over his own bar. Another corner comes in and Laursen connects but not cleany and its a goal kick.
