David Moyes got castigated for this kind of defeatism. I am done with Jose Mourinho now when that is his attitude when he has more resources than nearly any other manager in the world. Embarrassing.

He's just phoning it in - his prime was years ago. So much of his talk is simply to defend himself (his reputation) and so little of it is to defend the club (and it's values).

He’s had 3 summer windows and all the time in between to get us up to a level where that might not be the case. He’s never gonna get us to that level.

Juventus is one of the best teams in the world, of course they are favorites for the group.

I said it at the time and I'll still say it. The response to that Moyes' statement was a complete overreaction.

Think Jose saying we are always fighting for second is a sly dig at the board for not giving the players he wanted.
 
I have no problem with Juventus being favourites. I do have a problem with the manager of Manchester United taking a public attitude of 'what did you expect us to do?' at home against anyone.

I honestly don’t think you can count this summer. He wasn’t backed. Chickens are home to roost right in the middle of the directors box it would seem.
