Mourinho just said we were always fighting for second place in this group

Mou had argued with all DOFs from Valdano to Emenalo right to Grant. My question is far more relevant. It might also explain the rumours of SAF and Sir Bobby not wanting him in United either.
It's relevant now but my question will be more relevant in the future.
They didn't want him but wanted Moyes so there's that.

So what did you want him to say - we are going to piss all over them?

He can say that we knew Juventus would be difficult, they are the favourites for the competition, but we still believe we can top the group. Don't ever say that you're playing for second when it just isn't the case.

Juventus are probably the favourites for the thing. We'll be making up the numbers in the knockout stages.

Hopefully, clueless Woodward can sort out Mourinho's successor, since the sacking is going to come. I don't have much faith though, since his hiring of managers is utter shite.

Juventus go for the best players, yet we managed to take their biggest star and one of their best players off them. City was desperately courting Alexis yet we got him, so trying to blame activity in the transfer market is laughable.

Their success is because they're all well drilled attacking outfits and don't look to place 3/4 of the team behind the ball, then boot up the pitch like a John Smith's tribute act, when that inevitably fails the manager doesn't go to the press and call them crap and pin the blame on them for the awful football. Lukaku also isn't Drogba, Benzema or Milito you oof the ball up to him it bounces back or misses him completely, he doesn't take it down and bring others into play. The tactic is becoming as frustrating as that game against Fulham under Moyes, where we hit cross after cross after cross, and had no other ideas.

It's his job to get us to the same level, so he's failed at his job

I don't disagree, but the club have also failed to acquire the kind of players who can reach that level. The board are happy to rest on their laurels as a top 4/last 16 side, as evidenced by last summer's debacle.

So yes, Mourinho has failed to get us to that level. I expect the next guy to fail too.

Their interest is in winning trophies, ours is in signing tractor sponsors. And in signing sponsors we are way ahead of everyone, we even have a whisky sponsor.
And giving clowns like Jose so much time.

It's relevant now but my question will be more relevant in the future.

Its relevant now only because proper people wouldn't want this toxic person anywhere near to their club. Hence why the only guys signing him are clowns like Woodward, Abramovich, Moratti and Perez. Juventus would rather gamble on the Moyes option (ex Ciro Ferrara) then get Mourinho and for good reason.

I agree its more relevant in the future as there's no way that Mourinho will accept a DOF. He always seem fighting with them as he fights with most people around him tbh

Too honest from Jose....it's painful hearing him talk about Juv like that. feck me we are going to hell in an handcart
Yeah he has bought players for 400m , that should give him a chance for second place.

He had a 50m signing on the bench. Why signing Fred if he's not ready to play him?
Still early days and he might need time to adapt (he should at least be used to CL footy), but it seems that our scouting network has not done a great work. Not for the first time in the last 5-6 years.

OK. But we Aren't favourites so I don't see much wrong. Our fans are just self entitled right now thinking we should always be favourites and never deny it in interviews.
Was he asked directly who were favorites? You don't have to deny something if you're not asked it.

Juv have been as good if not better previously but I never thought we'd enter into a game at home where the manager accepts we'll probably lose.

Moyes had a Premier league winning side. Mourinho just doesn't. We all know this?

Can't be bothered to pull up your posts but I thought you were against the idea of a Manchester United manager giving up and aspiring to be like our rivals.

And United also broke the British transfer record when signing Veron. What I am trying to say is... How is this relevant? It's not that United can't sign top players, it's just that they do not do it often enough and there is no more class of 92 or transfer jackpots like Ronaldo/Vidic/Evra to fall back on. United need many more top players if they are to compete and Mourinho (just like every manager) deserves a chance to correct some of the errors made in the transfer window.

The way United works everything get channelled through the manager. So rest assured Mou had given his consent on Fred and all other signings.

We are fecked when the manager of Utd 'publicly' admits we aren't as good as a rival. Absolutely fecked.

He's a joke, he talks like we are from the lower leagues. We've also spent over 150m more nett than Juventus in his time here yet he's complaining about money compared to them? Seriously?! He's the most selfish person we've ever had at the club, only cares about protecting himself.

So you think with Jose gone everything will be rosy and great with Ed at the helm?

As for the other stuff better not go to them cause it's pretty silly but each on their own.

Always moaning, he should be doing much much better. Who bought bailly? Fred? Dalot? and barely plays them now? Please sack him ASAP.

Exactly, spot on. He keeps wasting money then moans he isn’t back.

Since he joined the club only City have spent more money.

He has no idea how to improve those players he already has. He has talked them down so much, and he has not been able to put in any resemblance of a game pattern that could help those players push on. There is almost nothing that he says in the media the players can pick up on and build up confidence in themselves.

He got Alexis Sanchez, he has no idea how to get anything out of him.
He got a 55 million pound midfielder, who he doesn't use.
He's signed two central defenders for combined 65 million he has failed to integrate.

Why should he be any better with the next signing? The problem lies with the manager and the lack of confidence he throws on his players and the lack of identity in his coaching nowadays.

He's pissing on almost any investment the club makes these days, what a lazy checkbook manager he's become.

Get him out! Don't know what's delaying it! Last international break was the correct time to let him go, but we persisted, and now we are back to square one.

fecking Eddy subjecting us to yet another terrible season just because he won't freaking sack a manager until we are out of the top four. It's such a fecking nonsense strategy.

He seems to be complaining about "quality" (or lack thereof) rather than money. You surely don't think we're on the same level as Juve's squad?

While he might be technically right, a manager at this club spending this kind of resources shouldn't display such attitude. It might have been the right fit for Porto, but not here. It also should be his job to get us to Juventus' level.

Eddy is a major part of our current problem, looking for whisky sponsors and travelling all over the southern hemisphere during the open window time. He needs shat out too.

Mourinho talks like Matuidi, Bentancur and Cuadrado are hot s**t. None of those players are world class. They've got their weaknesses too. We need to stop making excuses for ours and talking up other teams to deflect responsibility.
