There's no point even concerning yourself with the things he's said. A section of the press basically just allow him to pass off any old nonsense he wants and he's brassy enough that he'll just blatantly lie about anything.

Mourinho signed a new 4/5 year contract at Madrid around March 2012, Madrid wouldn't have let him go last summer either so how he was supposedly close to signing a contract for you lot I don't understand. From what was reported he decided he wanted out of Madrid early in 2012 before doing a U-turn.
I think it's more like you Chelsea lot are getting overly sensitive over any suggestion that Chelsea wasn't his first choice. There's a fair chance he wanted to go to United but wasn't offered the job, plenty of sources have said so, it's you who has difficulty accepting that possibility.
Ey? I have hardly studied it whatsoever, all i'm going on is interviews and papers, and since it was being discussed I pointed out some of what was said. Personally I couldn't care less whether Chelsea was his first choice or 50th choice, fact is we have him.
To be fair to the resident chavs that's not true though. Much of the speculation came after the Madrid - United games and his praise for them afterwards.
Not saying there isn't any truth to the matter, mind, as I too believe he wouln't have hesitated if he had been offered the job at the time.
If given the choice between Manchester United and Chelsea it's obvious who he (and anyone else) would choose. One is the biggest club in the world and the other a billionaire's play thing. United are better off without him though. Long term that will be evident.

There is a difference between saying that Mourinho would have accepted the Man Utd job, even if the Chelsea job was up for grabs (which I think is both perfectly reasonable and true) and what some people on here have been saying for a while, which is that Mourinho sees the Man Utd job almost as a 13 year old girl sees Brad Pitt or something. Completely and utterly starstruck.

It is odd though, a lot of mutual respect between SAF and Mourinho, and Mourinhos very good CV, yet it appears that SAF didn't really consider him an option to take over from him. I don't think Mourinho was desperate for the Utd job, though I do agree that he would've jumped at it and that it must've played on his mind why SAF would seemingly prefer Moyes over him, and led to a bit of self analysing.

Yeah those numbers just call out the facts that poor people die prematurely because they have less money. Mourinho is a jet-set celeb - he's going to live in London, Milan, Paris, Madrid not Alderley Edge.
Paris is nothing to write home about. I was so disappointed when I visited it the first time.
If he loved Milan, he'd love Paris even more. Paris is way better as a city than Milan is.
I reckon he will stay there for at least 5 years. Where else is there to go really? He has been all over Europe he can't manage Barca, AC, Us or even City. He will be in for the long haul. This is the side of him I want to see. Building a team, integrating talented youngsters not just throwing money at problem positions. Chelsea have a lot of young talent and at least a couple should make it so let's see how he does. He will win trophies he is a winner but what he has done over the last 10 years a few managers could have a managed.
That's not necessarily in his hand because you have to consider another factor: Roman.
I think he will bring enough success that he will not ever really be under SO much pressure, plus he has stored up goodwill. Hopefully Roman has learned his lesson, a few of his sackings where shocking also. He really is the kind of owner you would hate to have, it was a club with a more prestigious history than Chelsea fans would not be so happy, but he has made them relevant. I think the fact he has brought back Mourinho is testament to the fact he realises he made a mistake.
If Mourinho goes at least three seasons without winning neither the CL or the PL, he'll be sacked again. I'm pretty sure of that.
I also don't think that his return is going to be as magical as Chelsea fans might be imagining. There's still a lot of improvement to be made to the current Chelsea squad and I don't think that Jose will be given as much transfer funds as the last time around.

Despite all that has been opined, you do have to wonder how much leash Roman will give Jose and whether Jose can sustain the kind of poor run that Di Matteo endured before he got sacked. I'm not convinced that Roman would not blow his top if Jose goes on a 3-4 game losing streak, especially if Roman coughs up another net 150m on new players.

He has literally been everywhere that he can go. Few jobs left for him out there. He will stay here for a few years. Like he said he wanted to experience football all over Europe and he has. He could go to Inter but in their current state? No way they would need to be spending. This team will always compete with him at the helm. The owner knows what he is getting with Mourinho.
Some of the English press have been saying for years that Mou wanted the United job. Certain factions of the press claimed that is why he would not join City.
I don't think anyone in the world would look at the United managerial position and want to see themselves doing what Alex Ferguson has done. I think it would have fit Mourinho. A place to call 'home'. I get the feeling that he's always really wanted that. Chelsea with the rocky relationship with Abramovic, Inter with the agenda and the board wanting him gone, the complete circus that is Real Madrid and their playing group that you would never be able to win over.
If you compare the playing groups and the structure of United and Chelsea even as a rival fan and in an attempt to be somewhat neutral; Would you want to manage at Chelsea?

But that is exactly what I'm saying. There is a difference between what you're saying (that Mourinho probably would have accepted the Man Utd job, a perfectly reasonable comment) and saying that Mourinho was desperate for the job, that his whole career was designed and sculpted to help him take over Man Utd one day, that he stood in silent awe for hours at Old Trafford once everyone else had gone etc etc.
We're not talking about Ian Holloway, we're talking about one of the best managers in the world.
