Mourinho vs. Conte: "I've never been suspended for match fixing"

Can see Conte with a stupid look on his face asking the press in the next conference “But do you think it was for me?"

2016 when he was acquitted. Juventus, the dirtiest team in the world. They bough and bought titles by the pound. I wouldn't be proud if I was a fan. So when you wanna talk about garbage, lets talk about your team, huh?
We have never bought titles sorry to tell you

If you did a little research you would find out for yourself

What is him showing fight on the pitch actually going to accomplish ? He isn't a player you know
I think the point was about positive attacking approach not the safety first ethos we have seen a few too many times.

Childish, but hilarious. And the tweet fro some journo about running to the lawyers?

He didn’t say it was about Conte, and it’s not untrue either.

Personally think the senile comment is worse too.

Er, a couple of years in serie B for match fixing not enough evidence? And you got off lightly. After all, everyone in Italy knows who the Anieli family is and how they can influence things in Italy. I know a lot about Italian football, I lived there for a number of years and used to support Juve before the scandal.

Wasn't match fixing our demotion had nothing to do with that

I think Jose thrives on mock anger and fallouts like this, he likes to put his psychology degree to good use.

I just wish he showed some of this fight on the pitch instead of in the press room.

Exactly what Conte said.

Conte 'He has dementia. And maybe in the past this theatre was enough for him to do well but now you need football knowledge. Aaaaand Wenger is old.'

Jose: 'At least I will never be suspended for match-fixing'

Utd fans: 'Annihilated!!!'

Me: 'What a strange lot'

I have some deep love for Jose but since his 2nd return it's just been lame, childish retorts. Not the gold that made him The SO.

I expect this will now be a mental war of attrition and will peak when Chelsea go to Old Trafford. If Utd lose then, expect another water bottle fight or something similar.

JM does not want to fall below City and Chelsea this season so expect more sleights and suspect comments.

JM fights on all fronts for success.

True,I think he will leave Pep alone though, he only has to refer to the league table to shoot him down.

In a way it is good that we are now in the mix with Chelsea so the mind games can begin in earnest.
It is playground teasing at the moment, nothing personal and both managers are well fit for it.

It will continue because they genuinely hate each other and more importantly because your manager is the only one baiting this. Pep and Klopp don't react at all and they could (money comments, not enough wind/clown and so on).

Jose's personal attack on Conte I'd say has a lot more to do with Mourinho trying to take the focus away from the huge media campaign that has been focusing on him turning into a ticking time bomb at Utd than anything else. He crossed the line for his own benefit. Jose disgraced himself 2 seasons ago at Chelsea with his treatment of Eva Carneiro, so much so that he lost the Chelsea dressing room after and many wondered if there was a way back for him in English football yet no rival manager has yet to attack him over his behaviour back then. Jose ran a major media campaign to get the Utd gig while his old buddy Van Gaal was still in charge. Jose is known for his childish celebrations yet throws a tantrum if anyone celebrates wildly in front of him. I think he's done very good work here so far but I feel he’s crossed the line with Conte comment. Italian football is as corrupt as it comes and Conte was possibly made a scapegoat for a much wider problem and Jose was wrong to attack that and to me his personal attack on Conte show weakness more than anything else. Fergie never crossed the line with personal attacks on rival managers with the likes of Venables, George Graham, Brian Clough, Allardyce etc all linked in taking bungs etc.

I mean that makes sense if you pick and choose quotes, ignoring many others and changing or ignoring the context. Good job.

Sad stuff from both. Conte is a bit of a dumbass for taking the bait that was dangled but wasn't for him. Mourinho looks like a whiny child, so he doesn't even have the charm of Fergie to pull this off and it's not even clever.

Funny those who talk about only caring about 'winning game' or 'on the pitch' matters join a football forum and contribute to its content. Maybe should just stick to looking at livescore for score.

This doesn't make any sense.

Surprised that "Jose said xxx, did xxx, just to shift the focus to himself, to relieve the players of pressure" excuse has not come out yet.

Complete nonsense.

Did Jose say anything about Conte? I saw both interviews and he never ever mentioned Conte in the first interview. The press who asked told Conte that Jose said this or that should be actually sued and their licence taken away by the FA to attend these Press conferences. It was them who were lying to Conte that started this whole thing.
I think the most amazed man in this whole saga would be Klopp. He thought Jose was talking about him but now Conte has taken the bait. LOL.

Not to be pedantic but he has a sports science degree, not psychology, there is a difference.
Thanks for that, I always thought he was a card carrying psychology professional. So he is only an enthusiastic amateur, very much in keeping with the standard of his mind games I would say.

Jose never mentioned Conte once. Conte took it upon him self then to say Jose has dementia which is actually a personal attack. To which Jose replied

A) I never said conte was a clown. (But clearly the cap fits and he's wearing it)

B) I already know I acted like a clown in the past

C) I have never and will never be involved in any match fixing scandal

Only person I see here going over the fecking line was conte about Jose being senile and having dementia when no body mentioned him other than a reporter saying to himself " hey conte... You act like a clown in my opinion, Jose must have been talking about you then innit!? "

And to say Saf never made personal attacks!? He said Wenger had a mental problem when it comes to Ruud. How's that not personal? I bet we all laughed and said " you get em fergie"

I bet if Klopp had taken the bait (to which it was more applicable to him) and Jose dished out some meanie comment there wouldn't even be a debate

The press are doing their job. It’s up to Conte to remain alert to what they’re questioning him about. I’ll be worried if my manager based his answers on hypothetical questions.

We sure did

The matchfixing happened at Sienna. Learn your facts before you parrot on this site.

"Pep doping his players." Next Jose soundbyte. Hopefully.

Where have I said Conte was at Juve? I said Porto's reputation is hardly better than Juve's. Learn to read before you try and educate someone based on something they didn't say.

He can say what he wants about Pep doping his players honestly, makes no odds. Good attempt at taking the thread off topic though.

I’m absolutely delighted with Mourinho in the past week.

He’s publicly rubbished the reports of wanting to leave and absolutely demolished a rival who mugged him off for no reason.

Teams mirror their managers, so a bit of arrogance and defiance could be a good thing. The whole football club has spent too long feeling sorry for itself.

Meanwhile, Conte has absolutely embarrassed himself. Dementia is a disgusting thing to use as a weapon to verbally attack someone and I can only imagine the furore had José said it.

An unreadable block of text.
Did Jose even mention Conte once ? Some people truly need to find a clue.

That's the thing, Mourinho wasn't necessarily talking about Conte. Why did your manager feel targeted ? There are many managers all around the world who acts like idiots on the touchline as a testimony of "passion". If the question is asked to a manager who isn't as stupid as Conte, he easily deflects and says something like "I don't feel concerned by this".

It’s not the first time Mourinho has talked about his antics in public, also talking to him on the touch line after the 4-0 at the bridge.

I actually think this is clever man management by Mourinho. We are effectively out of the title race and its difficult to maintain a high level of motivation for the rest of the season. By creating a fight with Chelsea, he can motivate our guys to win a duel and keep motivation high in the league despite only a minuscule chance of winning anything.

Sports science does deal with the psychology and motivation of sports people though.
