Nani

He's still improving as well.

I bet he'll knock in 20 this year.

In his last two games he's been really selfless. Loads of accurate, short passes and always looking to play it in to feet. Makes him much more of a threat. Some of our one touch passing today was sublime.

A lot more direct with his crossing as well, he's whipping it in first time a lot more.

We really do look better as a team with him and Rooney on form. With the likes of Welbeck, Val and Carrick beeing bang on form as well we really are a joy to watch.

That's what the commentator said. I can't recall any headed Nani goals before either.

But he's been orgasmic for pretty much three games on end now. Great player. Probably the one player we have that is absolutely unplayable when at his best. There's just nothing that can be done against him when he's in the mood. Can pass it, glides past players as they aren't there, great vision inside the box, can strike with both feet, great crossing with both feet.. Simply undefendable.

I know Fulham were awful, but in this form he's simply the best player in the league IMO. The pace, the power, the threat, the creativity, the ability to retain the ball, the quick feet... He's got the lot.

Nani was laughably good today. He really isn't that far behind Messi in terms of dribbling - he's got a different style, but the rate at which he goes past his man is incredible. The commentators were going on about how poor the defending was for Welbeck's goal, but it must be nigh on impossible to defend against him when he's in the mood. His agility is ridiculous, and he's developed this wonderful habit of pretty much never losing the ball.

I don't see why he can't go on to challenge Messi, Ronaldo et al as the best in the world, to be honest.

Easy now. I'm probably Nani's biggest fan on the forum but he isn't better than Rooney...

..yet.

Rooney is more influential in our link-up play simply because he plays so deep and centrally but in terms of end product and opportunities created it is Nani, though that may be because he is a winger and it is not easy for a striker to create chances. However, I do know that if I had to pick one of the two it would be Nani because he is more dependable to deliver the goods.

was in the mood tonight. You can tell when hes in great form because his decision making is just spot on. Releasing the ball quickly and smartly to an open player just adds the final dimension to his array of trickery, shooting and crossing.

bloody brilliant to watch

Convinced a mate of mine before the game that pretty much all of Uniteds goals and best moves are down to the brilliance of Nani, which he strongly objected to me. After the first 3 goals, 1 goal and 2 assists by Nani he realised I might be on to something. The influence he has on our attacking play is astonishing.

I think Nani is without doubt our most exciting player and the most naturally talented in the Prem.

He's been very unselfish in the last few games.

Carrick and Nani's form for me has brought the goals back to the team. It's lifted Rooney out of his goal drought and even the likes of Valencia now seem to be playing with a lot more confidence.

Really great performance from Nani. Except for the 1 time he took a shot from distance, his decision making was excellent last night; something that has been questioned very often.

How much has it improved since he first arrived, eh? Brilliant player and if he keeps his form we will be right up there come the end of the season.

There's clearly not much in it so the 'easy now' sort of reaction makes no sense as it would suggest some sort of big gulf. The only players you can say that about with reference to nani are part of the robaldo, messi etc bracket.

He's in POTY form, not that he'll get anywhere near the shortlist.

I'd be interested to see his productivity statistics versus Silva, I bet they stand up to scrutiny.

I don't think it is, but only because I'm sure I can remember having that discussion once before, and mentioning that the only other headed 'goal' I could remember from him was the one disallowed that he tried to pinch off Ronaldo for Portugal.

Same here, I'm sure its not his first headed goal. I swear we had this conversation fairly recently.

You must be joking

Nani is quality but Rooney is overall a better player. We would miss Rooney much more than Nani

Depends doesn't it. Nani is far more consistent, and his performances recently rival Rooney when on his best form too. I think by the end of this season most people will be saying Nani.

I didn't say it was a big gulf at all, seeing as I've been stressing of late that Nani is almost as important to the club as Rooney is.

I think Nani has definitely been showing that he can be better than Rooney, and possibly more important but right now I still think Rooney is the better player, but not by any big distance though.

But when you look at the progress level of Nani compared to Rooney in the last few years then of course he can become the better player, he's also far more consistent too.
